Mark was now looking at Tom who was now standing a few feet away from him while facing his back towards him
"Hey, Meteor Boy, I've got a question for you." Tom said, seemingly somewhat hesitant.
"Yeah what is it man?" Mark replied.
"After my whole speech about Oscar and the others. What do you think about him?"
"Uhhh, well you made him sound like a jerk in the story. Oh but, when he walked past me I got a strange vibe off of him. Other than that just an older kid with a bunch of angst. Why do you ask?"
"I'm surprised you even know what that word means. Anyways I was just wondering and making sure you didn't have any ill intent towards him."
"What no way, you two seem to have beef with each other I shouldn't get involved. Besides, why would I have any bad vibes with him when I decided I'm gonna show him up!" Mark said eagerly.
"Show him up?" Tom questioned.
"Yeah just to bruise his ego a bit I'll get stronger than him and master my powers so that he'll stop being such a jerk to you because he'll realize you're such a good teacher! You get me?" Mark said with a smile.
"Why would you do that, I mean you do benefit from it by getting stronger but it seems so trivial to me." Tom said.
"Hehe, I guess you could say it is but we're friends and that's what friends do! I don't have a lot of friends but I know the basic stuff ya know." Mark said with that usual stupid grin on his face.
"This kid, there's just something about him. I don't know if he's too idiotic to understand the situation or just too optimistic and goes along with whatever comes to his mind first." Tom thought to himself. "I just."
Don't get him.
"No matter how hard I try. Human or not I've always been able to read people easily but this kid. I just can never know what he's thinking. Maybe he is just that much of an idiot, or maybe just maybe it's something else. Although I guess that's for the best." Tom continued to think to himself as he smirked. "It can't be helped now." He said in a low tone.
"You say something just now?" Mark asked. "Also if that's what you wanted to talk about we can head back inside if you're done. I just came here to escape Lisa honestly she kinda bugs me but if she's got a soft side for you I guess she's cool ya know!" He smiled.
"There was one other thing actually. I wanted us to train, right now and out here actually." Tom said, looking at Mark directly.
"So now I have to get beat up by the drones outside compared to inside? I guess you like to keep it fresh huh?" Mark said in a sort of sassy tone.
"No dummy, we're gonna train just you and me. You've "fought" if you would even call it that every member of the "team" if you would call it that too. Lisa, and Luna but you haven't fought me yet. You should get a good feel for your enemies and the different ways they use Galaxy Energy, so I'll be your training partner." Tom reaffirmed Mark.
"Seriously!?!" Mark questioned as he thought to himself. "He seems kinda different somehow. Maybe he wants me to stick it to that Oscar guy as much as I do! That's gotta be it!" Mark smirked believing he was confident with his assumption.
"I won't be holding back by the way. Luna has always been the physically stronger one out of us two. That's how her clan is but my clan focuses on our brain power and intellect. Because of that I hope you're smart enough to know I won't be fighting the same as Luna even though we're siblings." He said as his gauntlets majestically formed around his hands and forearms.
"Trust me I know if I'm being honest I was hoping we could do this eventually I didn't think it'd be so soon though. One because I'm sick of those drones and two it'll be a bit of payback from smacking me in the face when we first met." Mark smirked.
"Seriously you're still hung up on that you humans sure know how to hold petty grudges huh." He shrugged and got into a stance. "Let's go."
"Sure thing I won't be holding back either." Mark said.
"I wouldn't have it any other way." Tom said with a smirk.
Mark responded to Tom as he readied himself as his eyes turned green signifying him activating his powers. Mark rushed towards
Tom as the two smirked. Mark reeled back his fist and lunged forward as a dust cloud shot into the air.
The dust slowly cleared as Tom had blocked Mark's punch with his twin gauntlets. Tom smacked away Mark's hand as Mark backed up quickly expecting an attack. Tom aimed his gauntlet at the ground as quickly as possible, firing it at Mark's foot causing him to get sent flying.
"ACK!" Mark caught himself in the air and was now floating thanks to his flight ability. "That was sick!" He said as he landed on the ground and stretched a bit. "Let's do this for real this time dude!"
Tom snickered as Mark disappeared from his line of sight in an instant. Mark appeared to the left of Tom as they began swapping blows with each other.
Tom delivered a smooth uppercut to Mark's chin as Mark groaned in pain as he waved his hand quickly. Tom heard the ground under him creaking as small pieces of rock got flung towards him.
"Hmph!" Tom turned around and began tearing through the rocks with gauntlets like they were butter. "Huh-" Tom realized shortly after that this was a distraction as Mark smirked.
Mark was holding his chin from the last hit as he crossed his arms. "SIGNATURE MOVE: ROCK BULLETS!" Mark clenched his fists as the pieces of rocks that were remains on the floor impacted Tom's body at unprecedented speeds.
Tom's sleeves as pants were torn a bit from the attack as he dusted himself off as he shifted into another attacking stance. "Does announcing the name of your attacks boost their damage? Heh probably not considering I'm still standing."
"Hehe, it's just a typical hero thing. Saying your attack name before you use it. It's like a confidence booster ya know." Mark said with a smirk.
"I see I thought it was humans that were strange but to me you're the strangest I've ever met before." Tom chuckled confidently as he then thought to himself. "Am I actually enjoying myself here? No I can't be can I? If I'm not enjoying this then why."
Am I smiling?
Tom said as his smile was shining as bright as the stars himself as he told Mark from this point forward the match would go in his favor. Mark took that as a friendly challenge and told Tom that he wouldn't beat him.
"Let's just see about that!" Tom positioned his gauntlets in front of himself as they were launched off his hands at supersonic speeds.
"What the?" Mark put up his gauntlets as they soared past him. "What now-" He had to immediately brace himself as Tom slugged him in the stomach at full force. "NGH! I thought he was only strong with the gauntlets on but I was wrong!"
"Assuming things about me is NEVER A GOOD IDEA!" Tom jumped up and delivered a spinning roundhouse kick directly into Mark's nose as he drew blood a bit.
"Honestly." He wiped the blood from his nose and was still smiling even though he was bleeding. "You don't pack as much of a punch as Luna but you're still strong, but I have way more tricks up my sleeve than just your oversized boxing gloves."
"Is that what you think?" Tom smirked as he folded his arms as his gauntlets came zooming down from the sky soaring right past him.
"WHAT THE-" Mark jumped out of the way of the gauntlets as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Man that was close."
"Yeah it "was" close." Tom continued to stay still as one of the gauntlets stopped the rocket moving it was doing and slowed down as the second gauntlet hit it was both reignited and scattered.
Mark turned around but it was two late. He put his head on a swivel as the Tom gauntlets were moving at speeds he couldn't even process even with his newly developed Galaxy Vision ability.
The gauntlets were moving so fast they created afterimages as Mark couldn't track the real ones.
Mark jumped up and tried to kick what he thought was one of the gauntlets. Out of nowhere was pushed back by the ever growing vortex they were creating.
"I guess I'll take a page outta your book and name my attack. This is my first time doing this so how about something simple. Let's say. Star Cyclone."
"Aw man, even his names are cooler than mine, not that I'd ever tell him that." Mark thought to himself. "He's done more damage to me. I've barely scratched him. He's even smarter at coming up with strategies. Not even then he's probably practiced these hundreds of times. Wait, I've got it."
Mark snickered as he covered his mouth as Tom looked onwards with confusion. Mark busted into a full laughing fit as his green eyes were shining even brighter than before.
"What's so funny, Meteor Boy?" Tom said, a little amused.
"Not only is your name completely worse than mine." He said while completely lying to himself. "There's also the fact that you overthink things, WITH US HUMANS SOMETIMES BEING SPONTANEOUS IS THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION!"
METEOR. BLAST.
Mark yelled at the top of his lungs as he sprung forward with a beam of pure energy in his hands as it collided with the vortex. Mark yelled even louder as Tom looked on in confusion and amazement.
Mark grit his teeth as the blast eventually tore through the vortex as Tom's gauntlets went flying into the distance and slammed into the ground. Tom uttered "Woah" under his breath as dust and rubble were blowing towards him.
"Don't get distracted!" Mark said as he popped in front of Tom reeling his fist. "METEOR."
"A close range attack. I'll do this then." Tom thought to himself in that split second as his gauntlets flew back over to him if they had their own will.
Tom slipped back into his gauntlets as he began to meet Mark's punch. Mark then stuck his tongue out and called out "GOTCHA!" as he opened his clench fist. He then sent a wave of fire out that engulfed Tom within a matter of seconds.
Tom skidded back as he had even more bruises and scrapes as his body was smoking with steam from the previous blast. "I admit when it comes to raw "fire" power your arsenal is vast."
"Was that a pun?" Mark questioned.
"Maybe, maybe not you can find out later." Tom sprinted towards Mark as Mark did the same as they locked hands with each other. "Tch!"
One was trying to get the upper hand over the other as they both powered up with their auras colliding with each other sending light into the show. Tom's gauntlets began to crush Mark's hands as he yelled in pain.
"SIGNATURE MOVE: PLASMA FLOW!" Mark began to yell as he sent a current of plasma through Tom's body that felt like it was baking him from the inside. "AAAAAAAH!"
"AAAAAAH! This is even more potent than the fire bit I know you can't keep this up for long HUH METEOR BOY!" He began to crush Mark's hands as Mark screamed out in pain.
"YEAH WELL I KNOW YOU CAN'T KEEP IT UP EITHER!" The current of plasma stopped as Mark's breath got really cold in a singular second. "Ice Cold Wind."
Tom opened his mouth slightly in shock as Mark's ice abilities were starting to freeze his hands and up to his forearms. Tom quickly slipped out of his gauntlets as they sparked with electricity.
"You owe me I'd those are broken you know that right?" Tom said a bit ticked off.
"Are you seriously it's not like I meant to wreck them, and can't you just make new ones?" Mark chuckled awkwardly.
"I guess I always can." He said with a shrug. "Regardless over the course of this battle and my deductive reasoning skills I've noticed that your use of Galaxy Energy has a glaring weakness." Tom said while catching his breath.
"And what's that exactly?" Mark questioned with a sort of sarcasm in his voice.
"Like an actual space rock hurtling towards earth you start off rather adequately. Although once you get into earth's atmosphere you fizzle up due to the heat and turn to nothing. It's the same as your powers. After exerting your abilities you fizzle up and can't access your powers temporarily." Tom said while holding his finger in front of his face.
"After seeing you in action with my own eyes I assume you can only use your powers in moderation for about 60 minutes a day. Push it up even greater than that, the time limit falls to 45 minutes 30, 15, and if you keep going you won't even last 5 minutes. I'd say the pace you're at right now you have only 30 minutes left. Keep going like this, you won't beat me in time before you run out of power."
Tom finished with his explanation as everything Tom said about Mark's current power control was true. Mark thought about what Tom said before when he mentioned he's only grasped the basics at his powers due to being at 25% mastery.
Mark put his fists up and chuckled his hair waving in the air and his eyes glowing so brightly they were almost blinding. "Like you said before assuming things about me isn't a good idea!"
Mark sprung forward so fast the dust cloud that came from his wake didn't even have time to go away. Mark and Tom swapped blows back and forth as now that Tom was without his gauntlets he was on the disadvantage physically now.
"METEOR FIST!" Mark ducked under one of Tom's punches and threw one of his own.
Tom quickly locked his legs around Mark's arm stopping his Meteor Fist as he twisted incredibly fast, flinging Mark high into the air. Mark caught himself as he was now above the level of the buildings as he looked down.
"Heh, he messed up by giving me the advantage. Now that I'm in the air he can't-"
"Hey you done talking to yourself?" Tom questioned as he was floating in the air alongside Mark. "I'm guessing you didn't know I have flight as well."
"Not gonna lie I kinda just guessed you couldn't fly like Luna." He said, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Unlike Lunas clan my clan has mastered the
ability of Cosmic flight and able to fly on planets with levels of Gravity." Tom said while boasting about his clan's abilities.
"It always slips my mind that you and Luna are from a different planet." Mark said.
"It slips my mind that YOU'RE from this planet cause you always have your head in the clouds." Tom flashed in front of Mark as Mark looked down.
Literally
Tom said as he uppercutted Mark in the stomach and sent him high into the clouds. Mark was a bit ticked off cause he thought they were on a time out. Tom rushed towards Mark and disappeared and reappeared all around him.
"Star Clan Technique #34: Shooting Star!" He kicked Mark in the back then teleported in front of him kicking him in the chest.
Tom appeared even higher up than the two were before as Mark was still recovering. Tom's aura surrounded his body as he put his arms in front of him and straightened his body.
Tom became so fast it was like he was a literal shooting star as he blitzed Mark and tackled him all the way down towards the ground. The impact kicked up a large dust cloud as Tom stood above Mark as he was catching his breath.
Tom had ripped his shirt to pieces from his last attack as he smirked. "Even without my gauntlets I have enough skills under this hood to best you." He said as he fell onto his butt over Mark's unconscious body. "Its over."
