This article is about general information about the asteroid colony: RUNANTHOR; For more detailed info on geographic, demographic, economic, and/or politics please refer to the offered links below.

• Habitation/Class: Artificial/C Caution

• Population: 6.471.933

• Sovereignty: Independent (Runanthor Governing Committee)

• Physical Characteristics:

  • Diameter/Mass: 36 km (Mean)/7.551×10^15 kg

  • Rotation/Orbital Period: 9 hours/829 days

  • Surface Temp/Gravity: Room (Interior)/1 g (Accelerated)

  • Atmospheric Pressure: 1 atm (Interior)

• Short Description: The 3rd largest asteroid colony in the Krulic region, Runanthor is the greatest non-planet population center in the remote Bavarian Outlands. Located along an asteroid belt, it has a long history since its founding, spanning more than three millennia, although it spent most of those years only as a generic frontier colony.

The main districts of the city are located in the interior, beneath the surface of the asteroid. Dozens of port terminals extend from below, serving as both entrances and exits for the city. Separate industrial ports operated off-limits for the general public, offering their services only to registered companies and businesses. It also has a special military dockyard only available to the naval defense forces and their Bavarian/Krulic allies.

The asteroid body itself has long been exhausted from its mineral resource. What remained is merely the 'shell' or crust keeping the interior sealed from the vacuum of space. This shell is fragile. It is only due to the construction of giant reinforcing frames and support towers that it doesn't crumble from the inside because of the artificial atmosphere.

Captain Milanor Milestone was at his wit's end. With hollow eyes, he stared at his starship: Helios. State-of-the-art engine, premium armaments, luxurious passenger comfort, and stellar maintenance bill. She was a ship with so many superlative traits in her role, including the tendency of sucking in credits from his wallet like some kind of financial black hole.

"Gah, no more!" came a wail that resonated light-years into the vacuum, as regular as a pulsar. So recurrent in its frequency that it was possible his outcry would be the first message intercepted by intelligent extraterrestrials.

But then, a stroke of good luck! An easy and mundane but high-paying job came into his lap. "It's a straightforward delivery assignment to a nondescript destination. There's no need for concern," Milanor said in elation, unknowingly setting up a flag for an event beyond anything from his imagination.
