Juan was proven wrong when his mother said, "There's is nothing wrong with my health nor your father's, but we're already at that age."

He wasn't sure why his mother brought up her age again if it wasn't for health reasons. Both his parents were only at the middle of their life. Unless there was an accident or health issue, they had another forty years. As he thought this, he realized the crux of the matter.
