“The Library only detects magic in Losspike.” Circe stated, “When someone teleports, the real magic happens in the first location and the subject arriving is only the result” She continued.
Although Bela was still confused, she understood a bit of the situation. She found a passageway, went in, and found herself at the end of the passageway. Even though she wished everything was a bad dream that she could wake up from, it was all too real for her.
“Wait, how do I get back to Earth then?” Bela pressed on, all she wanted was to thrust herself into her bed at home, “If I ‘teleported’ here, then there must be a way to teleport back.” Bela looked desperately at her two associates for answers.
“Unfortunately, no...” Circe said, looking at Bela as if she was a stray. No, Bela wasn’t a stray. She had a home, a family, a community. Now those things were so far from her that she couldn’t find a way back.
“How can you prove that you’re from Earth?” Emry spoke up, her voice outspoke Circe’s soft dialogue, leaving the two others in the room surprised," Loads of people throughout history made statements like that and they were all hoaxes.”
“Emry!” Circe fought back. Bela only watched as she witnessed a friendship possibly being destroyed right in front of her. “Don’t make such an accusation. You saw the state she was in when we found her!”, the two then fell silent and stayed silent for a while.
Bela was informed that she had to stay for one more night in the hospital before being able to go, just to make sure she was good to go. Emry left Bela a stack of books for her to sift through such as- The Victories and Deeds of Maxine Mythwalker, Environmental Anomalies and How to Explore Them, Hosts: How to Get Rid of Them, and The Knight who Felled Stormterror. Bela wasn’t a very active reader, but today, she couldn’t get her head out of a book once she opened it. The legends, words, and events mentioned in the pages had Bela transfixed on this world she was stuck in. However, she was fascinated with a book titled The Magic of Teleportation. Circe was right. When teleporting, the subject is affected with the most magic in the first half of the spell then the next half is just the product of all the magic used. The Library that Emry was talking about did have a section dedicated to the history of Losspike, but Emry was talking about a category in it about the magical happenings. But what really had Bela wondering was how did she get to Losspike and was the phone call that she had had earlier connected to this.
Unsuprisingly, Bela dozed off in a book she was about to finish, the paperback cover fell on her hand as the pages rested within. She needed sleep anyway, because from now on her life won’t ever be the same.
After succumbing to a mysterious voice in a phone call, Bella Wellborne is now tangled in a plot to defeat a dangerous organization in the alternate, in-between world of Losspike with a magical umbrella and a group of odd folks to help her. Despite all their differences, they now have to work together to reach a common goal: Get life back to normal.
