BYRON
After traveling for three days, we finally found the place Julien was in. We did some research on the place and it turned out to be a mansion owned by a disgusting blood-sucking beast and not just any vampire, it was a McRaytan. The McRaytan family has always been involved in illegal blood trafficking, but they always managed to get out of trouble and were always declared innocent.
The one that had Julien was no other than Jackson, the only son of that corrupted family, he was a vicious beast and it was rumored that he murdered his father to keep the family’s wealth and business, becoming the leader of his coven. To think Julien was in the arms of someone like that made me feel uneasy and I could only hope he was okay.
We decided to strike at night, setting camp near the building but being always cautious not to be noticed by the enemy. Today was a full moon, so our wolf’s conditions were at their brightest. I could feel myself growing more powerful as the moon started to shine bright in the blue sky. Boris howled in my mind.
“We got this Byron. We’ll save him.” Mason reassured me, resting his hand on my shoulder. I nodded and looked back at the building, waiting for the perfect moment to attack.
JULIEN
“Yeah, everything is fine.” Jackson was talking with someone on the phone, he was sitting next to me on the sofa.
Due to Jackson’s nature, he was always sleeping in the daytime so I only got to see him at night, he always insisted on having tea time at this time, in front of us there was a full display of sweets, biscuits, and tea. I felt like he treated me like a toy, a doll to be exact. These past few days, the servants dressed me up in fancy-cute lacy clothes, it was worse than the outfits my mom chose for me. Jackson didn't lay a single hand on me and that worried me. Who knows how long he was going to be like this? I hated it and I felt so uncomfortable in them but I had to hold those thoughts and keep my shit together if I wanted to survive.
Today was a full moon, I could feel it. I bit my lips remembering alpha Rendall’s words, if I wasn’t here I probably would have been with Byron on the lake, mating with him and breaking the curse. I regretted running away from the pack that day, it was clear that Byron had an explanation, but no, I was so dumb and paranoid I let my mind terrorize me with things that were not real.
“You don’t need to worry about me, just focus on your work, Kang Dae.” I looked at Jackson as he ended the call.
I’d heard him say that name before and from what I heard from the servants gossiping, Kang Dae was Jackson’s right hand, it was the man that I met at the hunter’s place. I followed Jackson’s movement as he got up from the sofa and went to open the curtains. The full moon was already shining bright in the sky, its light filling the room.
“What a beautiful night, but you know what’s more beautiful my dear Julien?” He turned to look at me with a soft smile, showing his fangs. I felt shivers down my spine at the sight of them. “Your voice.”
“What are you talking about?” I asked him nervously, acting like I didn’t know what he meant.
“I know you can talk Julien, it’s full moon.” He knew? How? “I told you I looked everywhere for you and then one night I saw you on the lake, singing. I wanted to get to you but then…your parents arrived, ruining it all, just like the night we met.”
“T-This is wrong, Jackson!” I screamed at him, hugging myself and tears started to run down my eyes. I wanted to get out of here. Now. “You think this is normal? Kidnapping a person and treating them like a doll? You are crazy!”
“You have to understand my dear Julien, this was the only way to get you to be with me.” He laughed and brushed his hair back, getting closer to me. I got up and took steps back every time he approached. “Your parents are a nuisance, I should’ve killed them back then.”
“N-no! Don’t come closer to me!” I showed him the palm of my hand as a sign to stop, but he ignored it getting closer to me.
“Don’t be scared, Julien. I’m not going to hurt you. I just want you to be my mate.” I looked into his eyes, they were no longer gray, they had changed to a bright and glowy red hue.
“I-I would never be yours! I already have a mate!” He frowned upon hearing my words, his smile erasing from his face.
“I’ll kill him and make you mine.” I couldn’t escape anymore because of the chains on my ankle. I felt his cold hand taking my arm, pushing me back to him. Jackson brought my wrist closer to his face and sniffed it before licking it. I tried to let go but the vampire was stronger than me. “You smell and taste so sweet on the outside, I wonder how your blood will taste.”
I closed my eyes and felt how something sharp dug into my wrist. I screamed in pain and tears started to make my vision blurry. ‘It hurts so much!’ With my free hand, I started to pull Jackson’s hair trying to get him away from my wrist, but he was staying still without moving, just biting me.
“H-Help! S-someone help m-me! P-Please!” I started screaming, I felt how the fangs dug deeper against my skin. I heard some noises coming from outside the room and then a loud sound from the door. I was starting to get dizzy as I felt the blood leave my body. With my last strength, I looked at the door, a big brown wolf standing there, and a familiar smell came to me; my lips arched into a slight smile.
It was Byron…
My wolf…
He came to save me…
The sharp feeling on my wrist stopped. Everything was blurry, the last thing I saw was Byron lunging at Jackson and then everything went black…
BYRON
‘Kill him.’ Boris growled at the sight of your mate being bitten on his wrist by that disgusting blood-sucking beast, I didn’t hesitate and jumped on top of him. He tried to fight me, managing to land a few punches and scratches on my body. I buried one of my claws in his shoulder and managed to get on top of him, pinning him down with my body and then I buried my fangs in his head, breaking his skull, and finishing him off. Once I knew he was already dead I moved away from him and shifted, going to my mate.
A lot of blood was dripping from Julien’s wrist and I panicked, Boris whimpered at the back of my mind. I ripped some of the fabric from his clothes and bandaged his wrist. I broke the chains he had on his ankle and carefully picked him up in my arms. ‘Get the meds ready, Mason.’ I said to my friend through the pack’s bond and then I ran back to our camp where Julien got treated by our med team, never leaving his side…
