Dame Lydee, do you wish to transform into a Guardian Knight?
Yes/No
Lydee, a twelve-year-old knight, stood in tattered clothes, brushing her warm blond tresses over her two curious eyes that stared nervously at the prompt before her. Standing next to her was Jasper, her guardian, who had taken on the appearance of a rabbit with unusually big ears and green eyes. His metallic body shimmered and changed colors in a dazzling display of gold, silver, pink, and blue as he proudly wore his two golden antlers that sprouted from his head exuding an air of confidence and strength that belied his small stature.
“Yes,” Lydee replied, her glittering blue eyes reflecting the words on the prompt before they vanished into the depths of her gaze. She turned to her beloved guardian, Jasper who was hopping around, unable to contain his enthusiasm at the prospect of finally coming together with his knight for the first time. Jasper felt a surge of mana coursing through his body as he began to come apart in a brilliant burst of light. With a mix of excitement and trepidation, Lydee too began to disintegrate into millions of tiny, shimmering particles of light that illuminated the dark ruins. The photons hovered over the space that Lydee and Jasper had once occupied, gradually merging into a brilliant agglomerate of light that surged forth with astonishing intensity, quickly expanding and filling up the entire inner sanctuary of the temple. The light took on a life of its own, continuing to grow and extend its reach towards the soaring ceiling of the ancient temple.
Redd, one of Lydee’s friends from their hometown of Orilon watched incredulously as the figure grew far beyond his wildest expectations. “Uhh… Isn’t that 15 feet already?” he asked, his eyes wide with a mixture of fear and awe. “What tier is Jasper again?”
Erek, the youngest of the bunch from Orilon, watched with his mouth agape. “Nobody knows…” he answered, his voice hushed with reverence.
It was certainly a sight to behold. Even Geonwu, their master, found himself speechless as this magnificent transformation resulted in a cascade of light standing over 20 feet in height and growing, making it the largest Guardian Knight he had ever witnessed for a knight of Lydee’s age. The entire ruin now basked in the warmth of the light that emanated from Lydee and Japsper’s transformation. As the darkness of the ancient ruin was dispelled by the glow of the light, the mosaics of towering guardian knights of the past era emerged along the walls and the ceiling of the temple. It was as if the spirits of the ancients were revisiting this once hallowed ground to bear witness to the birth of a Guardian Knight finally worthy of their audience.
As the pulsating ether of light subsided, the towering form of the Guardian Knight began to take shape. Rabbit-like ears extended from the top of her human head, while her face gradually formed with various protrusions giving way to the majestic curves of her eyes to the subtle contours of her nose and mouth. Finally, her glistening armor materialized over her body followed by a sword held firmly in her left hand. It was as though the hand of God itself was molding and etching in every intricate detail of this magnificent giant.
Geonwu frantically flipped through the pages of the holy book scanning the pages with his fingers until they settled upon a verse in the book of Zyre.
“...the girl will step over rivers and leap over mountains. The serpent will bruise her heel, but she will crush its head.” Zyre 4:12
Could it be that this magnificent union of Lydee and Jasper was the manifestation of these divine words spoken by Prophet Zyre? As the hope of mankind filled the air within the ancient ruin, Geonwu’s heart swelled with prayerful anticipation that it was indeed so.
