Sino Eihun is a rogue in the city's advance scout corps. She has an older brother and comes from a family of textile artisans.
As a child she has had experiences with the arcane. Her first was at the age of five. One day, while trying to put on a shirt, it split in two in front of her. Confused that her favourite clothes now lay shredded on the floor, she began to cry. Her parents, two textile artisans, thought she had torn her clothes by accident and did not scold her; however, when this began to happen regularly, they suspected something was wrong.
They first believed that Sino had behavioural and aggression management problems. When they went to a specialist, they witnessed the truth. The man held out his hand in an attempt to be friendly, but when he returned the gesture, Sino's psychic power produced a small cut on his hand when she touched him.
Luck was on her side that day. The man laughed as he understood what had happened immediately. While looking for a bandage, he explained to Sino's worried parents the truth: their daughter had a hidden power that could serve her well in the future if she wished to become a warrior. It so happened that the man's brother was a wizard of the local guild who had invited him on a trip to a large city a month earlier. There, he saw some elite soldiers using the same power. He congratulated the family emotionally and convinced them that there was nothing to fear.
However, this did not guarantee that young Sino Eihun's life would be entirely peaceful.
In an attempt to keep her away from the world of soldiers and violence, Sino's parents sent her to a newly established public school to learn what she needed to learn to work in their textile workshop. Her older brother was already studying there and her parents asked him to look after her. Sino had no problems during the first years of her education, cleverly hiding her psychic power. She learned to control it because she did not want to ruin the tools with which she would later make clothes.
The situation changed when she turned ten and her power increased unbeknownst to her and she ended up hurting a classmate while they were playing.
That day everyone could clearly see Sino's hands wrapped in energy. Frightened, her classmates fled in panic and asked her to leave. No one understood what was happening, not even Sino herself. Sino panicked when she found herself all alone and ran off aimlessly, cutting anything that came into contact with her hands. Her brother had gone on a wild resource gathering trip and it was still several hours before he was due to return. She went to look for him even though she didn't know where he was.
She fell down exhausted at an intersection in the road. As she cried, some people approached her. One called her name. It was the man who had congratulated her on her power as a child, next to him was a woman in armour. Sino tried to tell them to leave, but the woman approached her and held her hands. The woman's hands also glowed, she had the same power.
The woman was a skilled warrior from the scout corps of a well-known city. She showed Sino that she was not the only one with psychic power and that it was possible to use it to do good deeds. It was she who spoke to the representatives of the school and asked them to forgive Sino for what had happened, explaining the truth of the matter. After that she taught her how to hide her power, telling her also that her abilities could well serve in the scout corps. She also warned him that many were wary of those who used psychic power to fight, as several who had the ability turned to assassination. Despite this, Sino accepted her power and decided to use it for good, even if others looked at her with suspicion.
After finishing her studies, she reached an agreement with her parents. She would leave the textile workshop in the hands of her brother until she felt that she had completed the development of her psychic power and had done enough good deeds for her city.
Her family knew that she was a woman who kept her word; however, how long would it be before Sino returned to work in the workshop?
