All the kids from Block A's ward was escorted to the cafeteria "Patients must retrieve daily meal before sitting down" a speaker repeated over and over again as the children formed a line by the front, getting a tray of food each before walking over to a table and sitting down. Now, each kid had different and unique bruises from one another.
Corey walked into the cafeteria, not bothering to join the line as he quickly scanned the room for his friends then started walking over to them, only to be stopped by a soldier. "Patients are to get their meals-" "I'm not hungry" Corey stated, coldly glaring up at the soldier yet now, instead of forcing the kid to eat, the soldier just shrugged as he glared down at the boy "Starve then" the soldier growled before walking off as Corey continued over to his friends, taking a seat down beside Vixen. "Corey- your neck" Holly pointed as Corey raised his hand and carefully held it over the now horribly bruised area on the side of his neck "How the fuck did that happen?" Jacob questioned yet Corey didn't answer, instead now focusing on the new injuries of his friends.
Lilly had chain marks up and down her arms, Jacob's finger's had several little cuts made of the tips, Faith had a faint red mark running around her neck, Holly had horrid burns around her wrists and Vixen... had the exact same bruises as Corey.
Yet even knowing the severity of his friends' newly gained wounds, he chose not to talk about it.
Faith glanced up, eyes widening before she jumped out of her seat and ran across the cafeteria, her friends' eyes following her before landing on Angelina slowly walking in through the door with Tom by her side, arm wrapped around her back to help her walk. Faith ran over to the two and gave Angelina a big yet careful hug, then helped Tom walk her over to their table. "You okay?" Holly questioned as Angelina carefully sat down "Y-yeah..." she quietly answered "Overheard that you fell out of ceiling vent back-first" Vixen stated, folding her arms as the others' eyes widened in disbelief "You were in the vents?!" Jacob quietly exclaimed in disbelief as Corey looked over at the girl in absolute worry. Tom sat down beside Angelina "Hey- give her a break, she had spinal surgery two and a half days ago" the older boy told them, Angelina finally looked around at her friends' new injuries "...what happened?" she asked, worry growing in her eyes "New 'treatments', everyone's getting them" Lilly answered before Corey took over the conversation. "Forget about that- since all eight of us are here now, I can tell all of you what I've found" Corey stated, getting confused looks from everyone "This place is called the 'GACTC', otherwise known as the 'Grey Army Child Testing Centre'" he told them, now getting slightly horrified expressions from the others "Everyone here is being tested on, apparently we all have something that makes us immune to those 'vaccines' they've been giving us" he continued.
Faith raised a brow "Immune? the fuck have they been giving us?" she questioned "Experimental vaccines or live viruses" Vixen suggested as Tom shook his head "No- what are the chances that us and all these kids hold the exact same antibodies that has been successfully protecting us from whatever toxic shit they're sticking into us?" the oldest questioned. "If this was 'miracle' research tied to that, then government people would've talked to us and our families first, get verbal and paper agreements and consent for shit like this" Tom then nodded to the few doctors standing around, watching the children intently "Those aren't government doctors- their id cards only say their last name and 'employee' number with a sour id photo, there's not even a logo on any of them either" the eldest continued. "And why would a research hospital or normal hospital have so many trigger-happy soldiers?" Tom questioned as Jacob chimed in "Wouldn't torture us either" he added as Corey nodded his head "They pulled some mind trick on all of us before coming here- Vixen, what do you remember before waking up here?" he questioned the boy next to him who gave him a confused look. Vixen hesitantly answered "Walking to school and meeting up with you at the park" "That's the thing- we were all taken on the twenty-seventh of January" Corey stated, earning a lot more confused looks from his friends "...we never even met each other-" "Woah wait- the fuck are you on about" Vixen cut off Corey before the confusing boy turned to the rest of them "None of us have actually met- only me and Angelina, only because we actually grew up together through primary school". They all sat in silence for a bit before someone spoke "...then how do we know each other?" Holly questioned "Dianne said that part of the 'collection process' of retrieving the children, us, was mind manipulation" Corey answered before nodding his head to several tables of children grouped together at random "Look at all of them, we've all been sitting in the same groups since day one of being let out of our rooms" Corey stated, the others looking around and realising the strange pattern too. "Small groups for better control and observation" Lilly mumbled only loud enough for their group to hear "In any experiment, there's at least one control group but..." "Here, every group is a control group" Jacob finished Lilly's sentence "There's differences between each group then, the bigger difference being us" Tom stated "Majority of this table has much bigger injuries and more horrid tests being run on them compared to all the others" the eldest said.
"There's one more thing" Corey said, gaining everyone's attention again "None of you are going to believe this though" he said as the others gave him concerned looks "...It's been the twenty-seventh of January for thirteen days" Corey stated as they all stared at him an absolute disbelief. "The fuck?!" Holly blurted as Jacob glanced back at the cafeteria's digital clock "That explains the weird clock crap" he muttered "Time was paused somehow, so these guys can experiment on us and most likely return us back to where they found us so there's no 'missing persons' crap" Corey told them "Even more reason to get out of here now" Faith said. Angelina looked over at Corey "If we escape from this building, we'll just be wondering into a frozen-time trap?" "Yeah, I believe so" he answered her "So no escape plan, great!" Faith quietly yet angrily exclaimed, keeping her voice down so none of the roaming soldiers could overhear. "No" Angelina said, glancing down at the table for a moment before looking back up at her friends "We have a plan... we just need more information first" she stated, sneaking a quick small finger point to the ceiling where a vent was above them. Jacob folded his arms "Ah, newsflash Angelina, they literally caught you falling out of a vent a couple days ago" he said as Angelina shook her head "No- there's a soldier in the vents, from an actual army" she quietly told them, most of their eyes widening a little at that bit of news "He snuck in the night we all arrived- he's here to stop this shit" "How do we know he's actually on our side?" Vixen questioned Angelina yet she fell quiet. "...there's so Dianne, the children's councillor" Corey added as Faith raised a brow "The pregnant doctor?" she questioned as Corey rolled his eyes "Take what you get- that gives us at least two people who can help us" he stated as Tom nodded his head "Corey's right, we can make a plan out of this" he agreed. "We learn whatever else more we can about this place- Corey, since you're being 'treated' the most, you're in charge of memorising the layout as best you can, even if it's only to the surgical ward and back" Tom stated as Corey nodded his head "My room's closest to a nurse's station, I could try getting information that way?" Vixen suggested as Lilly hummed in agreement. "Most doors around here are electronically locked, the id cards are the only way to unlock them" Lilly stated as Vixen sighed "...I'll try swiping one if I can" he volunteered "And I think I know where the head doctor's office is, Alex is basically the overseer of all of this, there might be a way to un-pause time in his office" Angelina stated.
And silently, an agreed plan was set in motion.
Corey working out the building's layout. Vixen to gather more information and swipe a doctor's id card. And Angelina to get into the Head Doctor's office. The others, for now, must 'willingly' go along and not fight the 'treatments' until a real escape plan is made.
Patryck walked down the corridor, retracing a map he made in his head whilst in the vents before finally finding the security room "Right..." he muttered and as he went to reach for the doorknob "Hey mate" Patryck immediately turned around to come face-to-face with James who then pulled a confused face as he looked back at Patryck. "Sorry- who are you?" James questioned "Skal, Paul Skal" Patryck hesitantly answered, knowing if his friend back home new he was using his first name during an undercover mission, he wouldn't hear the end of it "Skal?... why am I only hearing of you now?" James questioned, eyes narrowing a bit as Patryck kept calm "Doctor over at Block H decided to move me to Block A" he lied "A kid bit me whilst I was taking them back to their room" he continued, giving his covered right arm a slight pat before faking a slight flinch. After a minute of silence from the Grey Army soldier, James finally cracked a smile "Right, you were stationed at a different block- makes sense now" he laughed a bit "Sorry, it's just you were missing both your id card and uniform tag-" "My what-" Patryck cut of James before looking down at the spot of a usual uniform tag then desperately checking his pockets, an act to keep his cover from being blown. "Shit!" he hissed under his breath "Must've lost them whilst dealing with the biting brat" Patryck growled as thankfully, James was still buying it "Damn, that's some bad luck- find them before Doctor Ruins notices" James warned before flicking Patryck another bright smile "Nice meeting ya by the way" he beamed before walking off down the rest of the corridor. Patryck breathed out in relief.
He's always hated going undercover and lying, gives him a slight anxiety attack every time, especially when halfway through said missions, he's questioned and put on the spot. But he's thankful that he got asked for this mission rather than his friend Paul, cuz as hard and cold Paul can be... he can't handle stuff like this either.'Maybe it's a bad time to attempt the 'security room' stunt now' he thought to himself before moving away from said room's door and starting back down the corridor, changing his new plan.
