CHAPTER 11
*Blag!*
Kallean peered through the top of the documents he was reading when the door of his office suddenly bursts open, revealing a heavily panting Silvi with a hard glare searing towards him. Her delicious dessert like scent blasted into the room.
“Do you need something?” He calmly asked her.
Her glare intensified. The crease on her forehead went deeper. Truthfully, he was already expecting that expression.
“Seriously? You’re asking me that? After bringing me here against my will?!”
He looked at her with stern. “It wasn’t against your will. I brought you here without your permission.”
She opened her mouth in astonishment. “That’s--- They’re the same thing!”
He frowned. “They’re not. They’re completely different things.”
She opened her mouth to answer but then closed it after a second. Maybe she realized that he had a point.
She shakes her head. “Whatever. The important thing is that I’m mad that you brought me here. Why did you bring me here in the first place anyway? I thought you didn’t like me.”
His frown deepened. “I never said anything like that.” He can’t remember that he said anything about hating her.
“It was implied in my perspective.” She let out a breath of frustrated breath.
He can’t remember implying it either. Or maybe he did.
“Could you just tell me the way out of here? I’m going to be late for work. My family is probably worried sick.”
“No.” He firmly stated. He placed the papers flat on the table. He looked at her with weight. “I have a proposal to you. It’s why I brought you here.” He can’t let this woman leave this place as what Dark asked for and especially now that he discovered that she was really the one he was looking for.
The annoyed woman crossed her arms in front of her chest. His eyes unconsciously fell to her mountains for a second, but then focused them back to her annoyed expression. He can’t identify why he kept on glancing on her breasts for some unknown reason.
“I apologize, Alpha, but I’m not interested.”
What a stubborn woman. How come she speaks really soft and sweet when it’s Dark but she was always harsh with him?
Then he remembered. It was his fault. Damn it!
“What if I told you that it involves a lot of money? Will you reconsider?”
The woman sighed, more annoyed than before. “Look Alpha. I don’t care about your money. And I don’t care about your proposal. I just want to get out of here. I’m late for work.”
This woman is tougher than he thought. “Cook for me.” He said, straightening to the point. “That is why I brought you here. I want you to cook for me.”
Kallean was confused when Silvi suddenly snickered and burst out laughing. “Are you serious?”
He frowned once more. “Yes I am.”
“Do you really think that after all you did…to me and my family, I would want to do anything that you asked me to? Do you really want me to state one by one all the reasons why I wanted nothing to do with you?”
“That’s not necessary. I command you to cook for me, woman.”
She smiled slyly with an eyebrow raised. “I thought that this was a proposal? Now you’re being commanding? And by the way, it’s Silvi. In case you forgot. I’d like to be properly addressed if you don’t mind.”
“You leave me with no choice. You’re being too stubborn wom--- Silvi. It’s a simple request.”
She rolled her eyes. “And now it’s a request. I said that I don’t want to. I don’t want to stay in the dungeon if you suddenly disliked my cooking. Wait…why would you want me to cook for you anyway? I thought you didn’t like the food from our diner?”
“Because I realized something.” He said. “I want to ask. That day, were you the one who cooked those foods delivered?”
“Huh? I’m always the one cooking the foods delivered for the mansion.” She paused for a second. Then she smashed to her palm. “Ah! Except that one time when I got sick, Calber cooked the foods. I think it was a few days before winter. Why? Are you also going to put me to the dungeon because I was also one of the cooks of the diner?”
So his hunch was right. She was not the one who cooked the food that he thought was different from what the servants eat.
“No, I’m not putting you in the dungeon.” An alpha’s mate shouldn’t be placed in those kinds of places. Though, he still doesn’t recognize her as his mate. He will stand with his word. He will not have a human as his luna. “I told you. I want you to cook for me.”
“Ohhh…I see. So you like my cooking…” She said in full realization with a smug look on her face.
He sighed. As much as it would hurt his pride… “Yes. I like your cooking.”
“Oh…You should have said that earlier. Then I would have reconsidered.” She said, smiling, no smirking wickedly. His hopes immediately went up in a scale. “Awww… It’s an honor that my alpha likes my cooking.”
“So, will you cook for me?”
Her grinning face fell flat to a serious one. “Still no.” She said with bluntness. “You did a lot of things to me Alpha. And to my family as well. I don’t see any reason why I should do you any favor. Also, there are probably a lot more of cooks out there who are better than me.”
He did think about that. For so many times. He’s hired so many chefs to try and copy the dishes served for the servants, but they couldn’t make it exactly the way he wanted. Even though they tasted almost exactly the same, he was never satisfied. For some reason, he wanted hers.
“No, it has to be you.”
“You’re so stubborn too, aren’t you mister Alpha. We have a lot in common… However, it is still a no. I still have to go back and work to the diner. So let’s end this useless conversation here and why don’t you just show me the way out of this ginormous mansion of yours. I’m not a wolf, so I can’t smell my way out.”
“What if I told you that you’ll be banished from my pack if you don’t do as I say?”
He is leaving her with no choice but to use his authority. She’s starting to get into his nerves. He can’t think of any other way of convincing her.
Suddenly, the air of animosity surrounding her intensified. “Why are you being like this?”
“What?” He asked with stern.
“Like a spoilt unreasonable brat who does unreasonable things just to get that they wanted. Are you really an alpha? Is that how a good leader works? Forcing other people to bend into his orders? But of course you do…you are the alpha.”
“Wha---.” ‘A brat?’ What on earth is this woman blabbering all of a sudden?
Silvi started walking towards him as she talked. “And to think that you would banish someone just because they don’t want to cook for you. That’s absurd your majesty! I didn’t do anything that endangered your pack. I just wanted to live a simple life in your pack were I found proper peace and happiness for the very first time in my life. How heartless of you to suddenly take that from someone who didn’t do anything bad to you.” Her tone was getting angrier and angrier as she spoke against him.
“Tha---.”
“But I don’t care if you’re the alpha of this pack. I will not leave this place even if you want me to. You can drag me away but I will fight my way back in here. You can let your guards drag me out but I’ll hook myself to the gates if I have to.”
“You---.” He tried to say something but she cuts him again. Damn this woman!
“If you really want someone to do a huge favor for you, you have to ask or ‘beg!’ the person you wanted to ask the favor! Not force them, or threat them or blackmail them! Because that’s just heartless!” She finally ended her speech, panting afterwards after blabbering nonsense so loud and fast.
“Are you finished?”
“There are other things I want to say, but I’m tired of talking.”
“Good because---“
“Alpha!”
Now what?! He shot a sinister glare at the guard who barged his way in his office. The guard was trying to catch his heavy breath.
The terrified guard swallowed a portion of the tension in the air and took a step back as soon as he met his unpleased gaze. The guard seemed tired from sprinting away from something.
“What is it?” He asked the guard calmly but anger remained apparent in his voice. He’s currently in the middle of something important.
Hesitant to speak back, the guard answered. “T-there...There’s people f-forcing their way inside the mansion.”
He glared at him. “You’re a guard, it’s your duty to stop the intruders.”
“But Alpha…We already did, but all the other guards were knocked down by this werewolf. We can’t stand against him.”
“All of them?”
The guard nodded.
That’s odd because he made sure to put the strongest werewolves to guard the mansion. Who could possibly take them down in a short amount of time?
“Apparently, they were looking for someone named Silvi, Alpha.”
He might have an idea who the people he were referring to.
