"This is..." Despite being mentally prepared, disappointment was written all over their faces.
Influenced by these people, the others also looked up at the sky, and soon discovered the fact that there were two moons hanging in the sky.
"How could this be?" Many people couldn't help but yell out. Their last hope of returning home was shattered, and they would never be able to see their loved ones again. Many female students burst into tears, and everyone had already understood that they were truly far away from Earth and could not return.
"Mars... has two satellites, equivalent to the moons seen on Earth..." Cade muttered in not-so-fluent Chinese, and then quickly spoke a lot in English, conversing with Li Xiaoman.
Over the past few decades, some space probes had sent back a lot of valuable information about Mars. The two satellites orbiting Mars were very small celestial bodies, and due to factors such as their distance from the surface, if observed from Mars, Phobos would appear to be about half the size of the moon seen from Earth. Deimos was even smaller but brighter than other stars, a miniature moon.
After people who knew about Mars revealed all this, everyone felt deep disappointment. It seemed that there was no way back home now, and their primary task now was to find a way to survive.
They had already traveled 600 meters away from the Five-Color Altar, and the faint light source was much closer, appearing to be no more than 500 meters away. The group didn't hesitate any longer and continued to move forward.
Under the night sky, a gentle breeze brought a touch of coolness.
After traveling another hundred meters, they were closer to the light source. At that moment, someone screamed in surprise, discovering a collapsed building. It seemed to be an ancient pavilion that had fallen due to the passage of time.
"An artificially constructed pavilion means that there should be humans on this desolate planet, and we must be able to find a way to survive."
"Is this really Mars? Why are there human buildings here? The air, temperature, gravity, and so on are not much different from Earth, it's just like a desert on Earth."
Despite endless disappointment, they didn't despair; they had many questions.
"We've even seen dragon corpses, so what do these things matter? Maybe this is just a special area on Mars."
"Maybe. There is a grand Five-Color Altar built here, which can guide the nine dragon corpses and the bronze coffin, so calling this place the sealed land of the gods is not impossible."
"If our guess is true, and this is just a small unique area on Mars, then our space for survival might not be very large."
Once this was said, everyone fell silent.
"If this is only a small oasis on Mars, what way out do we have?!"
Everyone's emotions were turbulent, as this concerned their lives and futures; no one could remain calm.
"Ah..." A female student suddenly screamed, her voice echoing eerily in the night sky.
"What's wrong?" Everyone's faces changed, and they quickly inquired.
"A skull, a human skull!" The female student's face turned pale, her body trembling constantly, as she retreated shakily.
Not far from the collapsed pavilion, half of a snow-white skull was exposed in the sand. The female student had stepped on it, so it was no wonder she was so frightened.
All the male students gathered around. Pang Bo kicked the skull out of the sand with his foot. It was clearly an adult skull, and it had been there for many years, almost weathered away. The bone was no longer smooth and had many rough cracks.
Surprisingly, there was a very irregular hole on the frontal bone of the skull, about the thickness of a finger and appearing as if it had been pierced by a sharp object. The area around the hole was very smooth.
"It seems that this place is full of unknowns and variables. Although this is a dry bone left behind many years ago, we still need to be cautious."
The unfamiliar environment and uncertain factors made people feel chills.
"What are those ahead?"
Under the hazy night sky, the stars and moon were not very bright, and they could only vaguely see a rolling terrain ahead, like a series of chaotic piles of rocks connected together, uneven and jagged.
As they approached, everyone was stunned. This was actually a ruin, and the part blocking the way was only a small portion, with a much larger ruin extending horizontally into the distance.
The ruins of broken walls and debris seemed to tell an unknown story. Under the moonlight, this place seemed particularly desolate. It should have been a magnificent palace complex, but now it was a bleak scene.
It was a huge ruin that covered a large area, with a solid foundation built entirely of piled rocks. One could imagine the grandeur and vastness of the palace complex in the past.
And the glowing source was at the end of this ruin, behind a broken wall.
"Are we really on Mars? Was there once a magnificent palace complex here?"
"How much manpower would it take to accomplish such a huge project?"
"What caused this place to become a ruin, and why did all the tall and magnificent buildings collapse?"
Almost forgetting their fear, everyone was amazed by the huge ruin in front of them. If they were really on Mars at this moment, all of this would be too incredible.
Ye Fan calmly said, "Actually, there's nothing to be surprised about. We've experienced a lot today, and everything that has happened should not have happened according to common sense. Even if someone told me that this huge ruin in front of us is the remains of the Heavenly Palace, I wouldn't be surprised."
Pang Bo sighed, "The remains of the Heavenly Palace... It's possible, after all, we've even seen the dragon corpse."
Upon hearing this, everyone was stunned. Perhaps the remains of the Heavenly Palace were not just a rumor after all.
The source of light gently flowed at the end of the ancient ruins, making the broken walls and debris appear even more desolate and mysterious.
"Crack", "Crack", "Crack"...
As they stepped on the debris, they made a sound that reverberated far into the empty night sky, passing by one collapsed palace after another, and finally crossing this huge ruin. In front of them, the broken wall, although partially damaged, was still four or five meters high. It was hard to imagine how magnificent it was in its heyday.
"We must see what that light source is!"
The group carefully bypassed the huge broken wall and came to the end of the ruins. They immediately felt a refreshing breath rushing towards them, as if a divine light had cut through the void and entered their vision.
They had already walked out of the ruins and appeared behind the broken wall, seeing clearly the source of light ahead.
Fifty meters ahead, a quiet ancient temple was located there, with green lamps and ancient Buddha statues, and a tiny light like a bean.
In front of the ancient temple, a bodhi tree stood tall like a twisting dragon, with a dry body and only five or six pieces of green leaves scattered two meters above the ground. Each leaf was crystal clear, sparkling with green light, like a precious jade.
