"What's wrong with you?" Pang Bo's voice came into Ye Fan's ears as he shook his shoulder with effort.
Ye Fan came to his senses as if waking up from a dream. There was no Buddhist chant, no sound of chanting, the temple was still covered in thick dust, and everyone else seemed to have heard nothing.
"Is this really the Great Thunder Sound Temple?" He muttered to himself, the experience just now, though brief, felt so real. It left him lost in thought.
Ye Fan looked at the bronze lamp in his hand, but there was nothing special about it. It had some engraved patterns, simple and natural, and there was nothing extraordinary about it.
"A meditation cushion!" A male classmate found an old cushion from a pile of ashes. Time had not been able to erase it.
At the same time, a female classmate found a purple sandalwood prayer bead from the thick dust, which had not been damaged at all by the passage of time. Blowing away the dust, it still had a faint sheen.
Meanwhile, Kai De found a broken wooden fish in the dust in front of the stone Buddha, with three bodhisattvas carved on it, solemn and compassionate, vividly lifelike.
At this moment, Ye Fan was lost in thought. If this was really the legendary Great Thunder Sound Temple, then it was the place where the gods had abandoned their possessions, and all unearthed artifacts should be extraordinary!
"Clang!"
Wang Ziwen's foot seemed to hit something and made a metallic trembling sound. He scraped away the dirt in the corner, revealing a broken bronze bell, missing a piece of its wall, with an ancient design.
"Clang..." He shook the bronze bell, and the sound of the bell rang out, like a Buddhist chant, calming people's minds.
Ye Fan was interrupted from his thoughts, and couldn't help looking at the bronze bell, which was engraved with flowing clouds, simple and natural, imbued with a sense of Zen, and infused with the charm of Buddha.
Pang Bo muttered under his breath, he was the first to enter the temple, but he had not found anything, perhaps his luck was not good.
Almost at the same time, Li Xiaoman found half of a jade Ruyi at the feet of the stone Buddha. Wiping away the dust, the translucent jade suddenly emitted a glimmer of light.
The temple seemed empty, but several people found artifacts under the accumulated dust. Others quickly followed suit, searching for treasures.
Ye Fan paid no attention to those artifacts. The only bronze lamp that was spotlessly clean, intact and shining, was in his hand. Other artifacts were clearly inferior to it.
"I don't believe I can't find anything..." Pang Bo grumbled.
"You search carefully here. Whatever artifacts you find, take them all." Ye Fan handed the lamp to Pang Bo, letting him search with the help of the light. Although he could not see any divine quality in these broken Buddhist artifacts, he knew that if the gods really existed in the world, these things must be extraordinary.
Ye Fan temporarily handed over the bronze lamp to Pang Bo, and walked out of the temple towards the Bodhi tree in front. At this moment, he had broken free from his previous mindset and temporarily believed that the gods really existed.
Since the ancient temple is the Great Thunder Sound Temple, the accompanying Bodhi tree must not be missed. If there is a Buddha in the world, that withered ancient tree must be extraordinary!
The Bodhi tree is the sacred tree of Buddhism. According to the "Record of the Western Regions" of the Tang Dynasty, the Buddha once told Ananda that there were three things in the world that should be worshipped - Buddha's relics, Buddha statues, and Bodhi trees.
Because the Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, seeing the Bodhi tree is like seeing the Buddha.
The old tree in front of him was as vigorous as a dragon, and six or seven people could not even reach around its trunk. The main trunk was hollow, and only one withered branch hung six green leaves, shining like green agate.
Regardless of whether this ancient tree is related to the Buddha or not, just the six jade-like leaves are enough to show its extraordinary nature.
Leaf Fan carefully examined the Bodhi tree. The huge branches almost completely covered the ancient temple, and if covered in leaves, one can imagine the scene of it covering the sky.
Just then, Leaf Fan felt a movement in his heart. He found that a faint green light was emanating from the six crystal-clear green leaves, some of which were drifting towards the five-color altar in the distance, while most of it entered the roots of the tree.
The green light was faint and thread-like, continuously overflowing from the six green leaves, giving people a sense of vitality and endless vigor.
Leaf Fan squatted down and scraped away the soil at the root of the tree, trying to see what was underneath and where the green light from the Bodhi leaves was condensed.
Under the soil, he did not see anything divine, but only found a Bodhi seed. It was dull and unremarkable, with no light or brilliance, no mist or aura. It was a plain gray color that could easily be mistaken for a clod of earth.
The only special thing about it was its size. Ordinary Bodhi seeds are no larger than a fingernail, but this gray Bodhi seed was as big as a walnut.
Ye Fan was surprised. Could it be that the green radiance overflowing from the Bodhi leaves was being absorbed by the Bodhi seed? After observing for a while, he saw the green radiance flowing down in threads, disappearing three inches away from the Bodhi seed.
Although he did not see it absorbing the essence of the Bodhi leaves, he could almost confirm that it was the cause.
Ye Fan held the Bodhi seed in his palm and carefully observed it. To his amazement, the natural lines on this dull and ordinary Bodhi seed were connected to form a compassionate Buddha!
The Buddha was created naturally, with the lines intersecting to form an ancient and natural grey image, with a hint of Zen emanating from it.
"A naturally formed Buddha image. Does this mean that 2,500 years ago, Shakyamuni really attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree?"
The Bodhi tree, also known as the Tree of Wisdom, the Tree of Enlightenment, and the Tree of Thought, is said to be able to awaken one's divine nature and self-awareness.
Ye Fan raised the Bodhi seed above his head, facing the six green leaves above. The speed at which the green radiance overflowed increased significantly, and the vibrant energy became even stronger, all converging towards the Bodhi seed. Of course, the radiance still disappeared three inches away from it.
"Pop."
A slight sound was heard, and the last green radiance flowed into a crystal-clear Bodhi leaf, which then shattered and turned into dust, falling to the ground.
At this point, Ye Fan finally confirmed that the Bodhi seed, which seemed ordinary, was actually extraordinary, and he carefully put it away.
He noticed that there was a lot of powder on the ground, similar to the dust from the Bodhi leaf. Could it be that all the Bodhi leaves on the tree disappeared like this? This surprised Ye Fan greatly.
The Bodhi seed with the naturally formed Buddha image made him feel that it was extraordinary. He vaguely felt that it was even more important than the bronze ancient lamp that always accompanied the stone Buddha!
There were still five green leaves on the Bodhi tree, but they were not as crystal-clear as the one before, and had become somewhat dull. Ye Fan did not pick them, as obtaining a Bodhi seed was enough, and he did not want to attract attention.
At this moment, seven or eight people had found various Buddhist artifacts, each with a different appearance. Liu Yunzhi unexpectedly found half of a golden vajra behind the stone Buddha. Although it had been buried in dust for who knows how many years, it was still shining brightly, giving off a heavy and solid feeling. If it weren't for one end being damaged, it could be considered a perfectly crafted masterpiece.
This vajra, which looks like a scepter, has a powerful name in Buddhism, the Vajra. It carries the indirect meaning of "destroying enemies," symbolizing the invincibility and indestructibility of wisdom and the true Buddha nature. It is the staff held by all the holy beings.
If there were Buddhas in the world, this golden vajra would undoubtedly be a sacred object, possessing extraordinary and mysterious powers, even capable of splitting mountains and rivers. However, at the moment, there was no sign of its wonder.
Liu Yunzhi swung the half vajra with force, and it cut through the air like a golden lightning bolt, emitting a brilliant radiance, exuding a great aura.
"You guys, if these artifacts were held by the gods, and if we discovered how to use them, what kind of earth-shattering scene would it create?" Liu Yunzhi asked, causing all the people who had
