"Princess, wouldn't you prefer to eat and dress up before meeting the duke?" She asked, feeling uncomfortable walking outside in her pajamas, but she could not just allow Aravis to wander without supervision.
Aravis walked to the wooden door of Richard's bedroom with a maid on her side. For once she had decided to follow to the fullest his commands. She would try to gain his trust, and his attention to a few things but it will need time. Taking a deep breath since she was feeling anxious she looked at the maid a little bit worried then again at the door. To be honest, she was really happy to see him, but at the same time nervous. She didn't want to hear him scolding her for being out late at night and taking some fresh air after a midnight nightmare. She only wished inside her that no one hadn't told him about last night... So she could be the one to tell him. Her hand gently knocked three times on the wooden door and waited for him to call her inside or something similar. As Richard was checking some of the documents he heard the knocking on his door. He was a bit surprised since he did not expect anyone to visit him. He placed the paper on the desk and walked to answer the mysterious visitor. When he opened the doors he at first was confused about who was standing before him, but soon he realized it was the Princess. She looked very different thanks to the braid and the dress. His face clearly showed that he was surprised by the change.
She got all red and she tried to speak, but her mouth was frozen when she opened it. Quickly her eyes met the floor and held tight to the dress. Even her ears got all red and her heart was beating faster. She got all shy because she was dressed differently as well as had a different hairstyle.
The man looked at her, noticing her discomfort and embarrassment. The night before she was stubborn and talked back to him, even endangering herself and others by engaging in the battle with the mermaids. Now she was all flustered and avoided his gaze. If only she could find a golden spot with those two different personalities, he thought. Richard gently rested his fingers on her jaw and raised her face so they could look at each other.
Her whole face got all red and even a small steam got out of her ears...it was such a cute view for someone. The maid shyly giggled at the shyness and cuteness of the young princess but it wasn't loud.
She just held tighter her dress when he asked for the reason behind this and it was only natural. "Because you d-deserve to k-know the truth...a-a-and I am n-n-not a kid t-to take you f-for a f-f-fool. I m-must be more h-h-h-honest w-with you...." she said kindly as she slowly raised her face and looked up to him with eyes almost holding back tears of fear. She knew that Duke was better than the old " masters " she had but she did afraid of his scolding. Usually, everyone began by scolding her at the end of the road, they would just hit her. "S-So please ac-ac-accept my a-apology..." She baw once again
Duke looked her in the eyes, his expression have not changed a bit, despite the girl's attempts. "I told you to not wander without your maid accompanying you, yet you decide to disobey my order and left your room in the middle of the night. Do you think confessing and apologizing with change that fact?" He asked with an upset voice. "Why have you not wake up your maid to come with you?" He asked. The maid wanted to look down at the floor, feeling she kept failing her master ever since she was assigned to Aravis, but she knew Richard hated when people avoided eye contact when talking with him. She held her head high, wondering when was the good time to apologize.
