11: Millie
She tapped her foot on the hard wooden floor on their new bedroom floor on the upper level of the house. A red line, it was a red line. Two red lines this time. The pregnancy test was old she had it for a while, now she was waiting for the second test to turn red with one or ones. She couldn't be pregnant now! Not out here, it was too good too be true, Grey and her hadn't even had sex very often at all since getting here, a grand total of twice in a month and a half of being here, she wasn't even sure how recent the last time was. She paced around the room back and forth worrying more and more about everything there was too worry about. Her period hadn't came back since that last one when she first came, it was a week past overdo and she was never late since she turned 13. Never late. Millie wondered if Doug's ghost really did haunt the rickrack house, was he too flouting around the room waiting to know as well? Or would a man turned into nothing but his soul know when a new young fresh soul came into the house? No she didn't actually think Doug was here in sprite. He left long before Moore found his hunched over body in the living room. Millie didn't believe Doug cared that much for this house, this house was a host not a home. Besides she did not have ghost stories in her head oh no no, she just finally finished her Lovecraft collection, she had other tales on her mind. She sprinted over to the test sitting on the edge of the bed, no way she would be going to that out house to do the test again.
Two lines.
She moved the test over a little ways back to sit on the bed herself. "Oh my God..." She mumbled holding her hand to her head. She had the sudden erg to cut her long hair, she felt hot. A little smile planted itself onto her face and she looked to the window when the yellowish orange light catch her cheeks and eyelashes. Then for one horrible moment her breath stopped, her face fell blank then transmuted into something that could be described as plain tragic terrier. Unsafe! That was the word, Run Run Run. It was completely unrelated to what she felt before, she had to run away far away from here before it was too late. Then she was protective, for what she aimed to be Grey. No THEY needed to run away. It was like a long dark hunger shadow had just decided to loom over her, and in a flash that horror was gone. She saw the outside of the window again and noticed nothing was wrong, she breathed again but her smile came back less light then before. It was the emotion, that was it. She stood up off the bed and genitally picked up the test as if the throw away thing was her own. "I wish... I wish I had WiFi!" She laughed and sat the thing back down. Both of their phones died a while ago mostly unused, and no means to recharge them unless they asked to use someone else's charger and WiFi. She needed to call him, Grey's odd jobs where surely almost over for the day and she couldn't wait for him to get back. She jumped up into the air like someone who won the lottery and yelled something she didn't know what it was, and ran out of the bedroom hopped onto the top step going down the stairs and counted to hop down every step as she went. "Wait!" Hop "Till!" Hop "He!" Hop "Hears! Hop "This!" Hop "Toni-"
Her big left toe catch onto the second to last step and she backwards hands reaching out for something to grab everything moving as slow as a picture as she counted to fall, her right hand catch the poll of one of the stair rails and helplessly fell onto her back and bumped her neck and top of her head with two higher steps, letting out a dry "Hump!" sound as she hit them. Her hand let go of the rail and she laid there for a good minute. She wasn't in pain after a moment it wasn't a bad fall at all, just the shock of it took her. And when the shock started to wash away from her like dirt on her Grey after he got back from work, her mind went back to the test. 'is it true? Should I buy another test, a newer one before telling Grey and getting his hopes up?' she shook her head no to herself. 'I have to tell him now, we'll take one more test together to make sure, if they sell tests around here...' Millie pulled her hands to the sides of her and almost started getting up, but her thoughts of babies Grey tests and falling all melted off as lines catch her eyes. Not red lines though.
Above the stairs far onto the ceiling where four lines made into a square. They sat on the ceiling right where the top step was, but the ceiling was high and as Millie sat up to get a better look she could tell it'd take a long latter to get to it, did they have a latter? Yes she thought they did out back. That didn't lead to the attic, she known that, she'd been in the attic it wasn't big enough to be anywhere near there, that was a new spot, a door or a cubbyhole? She stood up completely, how did they not see it before? No they hadn't because the lines where so slight you'd have to look for them to see them, but she saw them now and she couldn't unseen them now. She wanted to pull that old latter out now and give it a look while it was on her mind, but that seemed to risky right next to the stairs she JUST fell down, that was a later date for Grey. Her hair swerved over to look out the window, the light was getting dim, he'd be home soon. A idea popped into her head and she smiled a real smile once more before the darkness came into her before. 'meet him.' Millie put on her shoes and socks (surely not in that order) and ran out the door. Her eyes met the swamps and she pursed her lips before running out down the path across the little bridge and beyond something's sight but never it's smell.
