When Juan could no longer hear his father's voice, he assumed that his father had left. The way his father sounded must have meant that his mother had talked to him about what they talked about last night.

Juan sighed. He wasn't looking forward to that conversation. Hopefully, his cousin with his girlfriend were there to keep them from getting crazy.
