What about my family, my friends and acquaintances? Am I going to let them go to hell?
The same God who saved you is more than capable to save them, don't be afraid - God is good and his mercy lasts forever!
Intercede on their behalf! What is intercession? It is the name for prayers made on behalf of other people, asking for something for them whether it be healing, deliverance, salvation or a blessing.
Your part is to pray for them asking God to open their eyes as He opened yours and now you see the truth that once sounded like madness to you.
The Lord saved you and doesn't want to stop at you, He wants to use you to save not only your family and friends but everyone around you!
When you pray don't focus too much on asking things solely for you, this could leave you with an egoistic mindset ( I don't wish to condemn you but to help you avoid trouble with pride - my worst enemy).
Be brave! Pray to God asking to use you to bless someone and if you feel like doing something you normally don't do, do it ( if it's something good and it's aligned with God's Word, be careful not to get ahead of yourself and end up getting in trouble).
Warning: Pray only for who is alive, you can intercede for someone who's on the verge of death - but, never, under any circumstances pray for a dead person. Don't pray for those who are deceased - the Bible doesn't teach us to do that because it's useless.
"Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment."
Hebrews 9:27 NIV.
Don't pray for the dead. We can and should pray for others, as long as they're alive, because while there's life, there's hope. But after death they face the judgment… What does this tell us? The opportunity to be saved is while we're on this earth with our hearts beating, the day it stops so does the time to receive God's Grace runs out - there'll be no more chance.
The destiny of the deceased belongs to God, after someone departs they're judged by God Himself and He who will decide where their soul will remain for eternity. In case the person accepted Jesus and lived according to God's Word, Heaven will be their eternal home.
"What if the person didn't accept Jesus and didn't believe in God's Word?" It won't be the tiniest bit pleasant, the destiny of this soul would be hell, an endless torment. Sadly, to the souls of those who already departed there's nothing we can do.
However! There's a lot of living people walking on the same direction, we call them "lost" due to the fact that if they don't repent and practice the Word, they'll face the same end as the souls of the deceased who rejected Jesus - eternal condemnation.
There's also those who one day knew the Word and even practiced it for a certain time, but for some reason they went back to living in the world. Those are referred to as "deviated" because they drifted away in the middle of the only good and correct way - Jesus Christ.
"What is living in the world? Don't we all live on the same planet?"
The "world" we talk about is the life lead by people who don't know the Word - where they commit sin after sin and can't win against the flesh for the reason that they haven't accepted Jesus. We all used to live there, we were lost, but now we're found, we were blind but now we see clearly. The message that sounded like madness to us once, today we understand thanks to the Holy Spirit which God gave us so we would be able to discern things ( Capacity to understand the Word of God).
Don't stop praying for those who are lost or deviated. So, always separate some time to intercede for your family, friends, neighbors, colleagues from school or work. Why? While there's life there's hope for every single one of them - until they keep breathing there's a chance for them to accept Jesus and be saved!
"Then I heard the Lord say, “Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger?” I answered, “I will go! Send me!”
Isaiah 6:8 GNT.
"How do I know that God wants to use me?"
The question is, do you want to be used by the Lord? Then ask! Don't forget to pray and meditate on the Word every day, this should become part of your routine. The secret to achieving this is to ask God for help! Honestly without Him we can do NOTHING (in a way that pleases Him and in the right way).
First, pray giving God authorization to use you (Remember, He doesn't do anything in your life without your permission).
Keep in mind that God speaks to each of us in a different way, but He speaks to all of us through the Bible - His Word. Then, watch out for some small signs:
If out of nowhere you remember a person, pray for them.
If you wake up in the middle of the night, for no apparent reason, take the opportunity to intercede for someone.
If you ever feel the need, a strong will or a certainty that you should do something (as long as it doesn't go against the Word of God, do it).
Have you seen someone homeless on the streets and can afford a meal? Pay. If you can't, pray for the person - that God will give him food as well as salvation.
Did any verse or biblical passage catch your attention? Hold on to it and keep studying until you understand what the Lord wants to tell you, ask Him to explain it to you.
Have you done something and then felt uncomfortable, a feeling that you shouldn't have done that or spoken that way? Listen to it, ask God to do better next time and not do this again.
You have to make a decision and something tells you not to do it and every time you think about it something bothers you? Don't do it, this is a warning sign - something is wrong. If you go ahead anyway… the result will be bad.
Do you know when you have a certainty in your heart to do something or not? People usually call this "intuition", it's a subtle voice that comes from within: whenever we obey it, things work out well, when we ignore it, things get complicated - not to say really bad.
Can I tell you a secret? This is the Voice of the Holy Spirit trying to guide us through the best path.
"For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.
And by him we cry, “ Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."
Romans 8:14-18 NIV.
