July 9th. 9:30 am. Marlene was still asleep in Abel’s bed and dreaming. What she hears in her dreams is the sound of a cooing baby. She sees the outline of a baby sitting in the pitch-black void and could not determine what the child looked like. Marlene walks towards the shining silhouette infant, and sits next to it. The baby looks at Marlene with its wide silver glowing eyes; Marlene could do nothing but shed tears when she saw the baby’s eyes and touches the baby’s hand.
“Well,” Marlene speaks. “What a sweetie. Look at those beautiful eyes…”
The child fades from her sight when she hears two voices speaking to each other. One was the familiar voice of Marcus, the other was a woman with an Italian accent. The images slowly come in to view for Marlene, seeing the image of Marcus and the last image slowly coming in. Marlene sees by skin and body type; the figure was Erika. Marcus and Erika look to Marlene with spite in their eyes.
“What should we do with her, Marcus?” Erika asks.
“Kill her.” Marcus replies. “She must die along with all the shit she caused and that rat bastard with her. Her sisters will be next.”
Erika glares at Marlene.
“Marcus, show your daughter your new gift.”
Erika moves away from Marcus as he begins to transform into a monstrous beast in front of Marlene’s eyes.
Marlene screams out of her sleep, waking herself up. Sunlight shines on her face as she sits up in the bed with the silk sheets covering her, and seeing that Abel was not beside her. At the end of the bed, she sees a silk purple robe. Knowing the robe is for her, she puts the robe on as she gets out of the bed. She smells food cooking downstairs and decides to leave the room to the kitchen while she tightened her robe.
. .
Marlene walks downstairs to the kitchen where she sees Abel cooking breakfast. Abel sees her as she sits on a stool near the counter as he finished cooking.
“Good morning, Marlene.” He greets.
“Morning, Abel.” She greets back.
Abel sees what Marlene is wearing, and smiles.
“Nice to see the robe fits you. You wear it well.”
“Thank you.”
Abel holds two plates of food in his hand and sets one plate in front of Marlene, then sits next to her on another stool and they start to eat.
“How did you sleep?” Abel asks.
“I slept okay.” Marlene replies while smiling.
“How did you enjoy last night?”
“I enjoyed it very much, thanks.” She giggles. “Also, I had a dream as I slept, though.”
“What kind of dream?”
“The dream… I guess it was a vision, but it felt out of order. One part was good, the other was bad.”
“Tell me the latter.”
“Okay. The first part was… about my father and Erika.”
Abel’s eyes glow with concern when she answered. “What did you see?”
“I saw Marcus turn into a monster, something not of this world… Erika called it a gift.” Marlene answers with unease.
Abel puts his hands together and in thought. He realizes that Marlene’s dream might be the upcoming future.
“Dammit.” He curses to himself. “Erika stole the serum and made it into something worse.”
‘Knowing her, it’s possible.’ His inner self replies.
“What about the other dream?” He asks Marlene.
“There was… a child.” She replies. “But something about the child felt… familiar.”
Abel raises his brow in curiosity and looks at Marlene. “…A child?” He asks. “Was it our child?”
“Well,” She speaks. “I couldn’t see what the child looked like, but …probably? I don’t know which one is going to happen first…”
Abel chuckles, making Marlene look at him confused.
“That’s the same kind of way your mother would talk when I saw her.” He replies. “Her premonitions always deemed true. You have the same power as her.”
“She has that power?”
Abel nods in response, then thinks about Marlene’s dream, pertaining to Erika.
“Also, it seems I’m going to have a problem with my former family as well, along with Erika.”
“Is she the type of woman to do that?” Marlene asks.
“I wouldn’t put it past Erika. I feel that she would.”
Wondering along with Abel, Marlene finished eating and heard her phone ring from upstairs and went to get it.
. . .
Upstairs in Abel’s room, Marlene answers her phone.
“Hello?” Marlene answers, walking out of the room.
“Good morning, Mar. It’s Rika. Sorry that this is last minute, but we’re planning on going out to dinner for Dina and Ilena’s birthday today.”
“Well, good morning to you too, Rika. Where at?”
“At Pyrrha’s downtown. If there are any people you’re inviting, they’re welcome to come. We’ll be going at 6:30 pm.”
“That’s not a problem. I’ll see you then.”
As Marlene hangs up her phone, she goes downstairs back to the kitchen and looks to Abel who finished eating.
“Would you like to go to dinner for Dina and Ilena’s birthday?” She asks him.
“That’s fine with me.” Abel replies. “I could give them their pendants and the others.”
“Good idea. If you want, you can invite Autumn and Vance.”
“Hm. I’ll make sure to inform them.”
Marlene’s phone begins to ring, catching Abel’s attention. She did not know the number but, answers it.
“Yes?” She answers.
“Marlene Rosa?” A woman with an Italian accent asks.
“Who is this?”
“You should know who this is. I hope he’s treating you well.”
Hearing the accent, Marlene realizes who she is talking to. “Erika.”
“Well, aren’t you a spotter.” Erika compliments sarcastically.
“What do you want?”
“You should know what I want. I want Abel back. I will make you regret taking him away from me. I will make you wish you were never born!”
Marlene chuckles.
“I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt. If you ever come across me, you will regret your entire existence.”
Erika scoffs.
“Do you know anything about the Gabisa family? My family is one of the wealthiest families in the country and you dare threaten me? I have multiple resources at my disposal, and I will use them on you. I can and will break you.”
Marlene laughs.
“Threatening me with what? Lawyers? Just because I’m with Abel and you aren’t? That’s not my fault. You’re a fucking idiot thinking I took him away from you even though you never really had him in the first place; he chose me. You didn’t understand the word “partnership”, so he decided to drop you. Just be a woman and move on. Also, don’t you dare insult a Rosa. We know people as well around every corner in this city and you don’t know what you might get with us, for we are full of surprises. Keep this in mind.”
Marlene hangs up, looking to Abel.
“She must’ve tracked my number.” She speaks.
“Block her number.” Abel advises. “She’s going to keep calling you.”
Marlene goes on her phone and blocks the number. “Talk more about this later?” She asks.
Abel nods in response. He then takes out his phone and starts to call Vance. The phone rings a couple times until Vance answered.
“Hey, Abe.” Vance greets. “What’s up?”
“Hello Vance. Your presence and Autumn’s are required to join me at Pyrrha’s this evening at 6:30 pm.”
“For what? A deal?”
“No. For a birthday party.”
Vance becomes silent for a moment.
“What??” He asks, confused. “A birthday party? For whom?”
“For two of Marlene’s sisters. They have extra spots. Also, I have something to tell you two afterwards at my house if you do attend.”
“Sounds important. Okay. Autumn and I will be there.”
Abel hangs up the phone and grabs his and Marlene’s plate to put it in his dishwasher, and looks to Marlene, concerned.
. . . . .
At 6:25 pm, Abel and Marlene arrive at Pyrrha’s in Abel’s car. When they get out of the car, Abel takes out a bag from the back seat and locks the car while Marlene spots Rika’s car and K.C.’s SUV.
“My sisters are here.” Marlene informs him.
“Always ahead of time, I see.” Abel comments.
They walk in the restaurant to the front desk where a hostess was standing.
“Hello. Welcome to Pyrrha’s.” The hostess greets. “How may I help you?”
“Hi.” Marlene greets. “We’re in a party under the name Rosa.”
The hostess opens a planner and finds the last name ‘Rosa. Table for 15’, and looks at the two. “You two may follow me.”
Abel and Marlene follow the hostess to a large table surrounded with balloons where Marlene’s sisters are sitting.
“Hey, girls!” Marlene greets as she waves.
The sisters greet Marlene as she and Abel sit down with them. Autumn and Vance arrive inside of the restaurant moments later. They look to their left and spot Abel while he sees them also. Vance and Autumn walk to the table and they greet Abel. Nikita and Rika lean closer to Marlene.
“Who are those two?” Nikita asks.
“They are Abel’s friends: Vance and Autumn.” Marlene replies.
“They’re the ones you two invited?” Rika asks.
“Yes.”
Autumn sits next to Abel while Vance sits beside her.
. . .
8:30pm. Everyone finishes their dinner and goes to dessert with a birthday cake for Dina and Ilena. Since everyone was winding down and conversing with one another, Abel puts a bag on the table and takes out 7 small boxes. When Marlene saw this, she decides to get all her sisters’ attention.
“Excuse me, girls!” Marlene speaks, getting everyone’s attention. “To my little sisters, Dina and Ilena, happy 17th birthday. Abel and I have presents for the both of you.”
She shows two little boxes with their names on it and slides them to the girls. Dina and Ilena take the boxes and open them revealing the necklaces with the pendants that are the same color as their eyes. Dina’s pendant was hazel, and Ilena’s pendant was blue. They had bright smiles when they saw the pendants.
“Thank you, Marlene and Abel.” Dina speaks while smiling.
“Yes, thank you so much.” Ilena adds.
The twins put their necklaces on and look to the pendants in awe; Ilena looks to the couple.
“They match our eyes.” Dina comments.
“Where did you get them from?” Ilena asks.
Abel and Marlene look at each other, then to the girls.
“I got them… from your mother.” Abel replies.
The twins’ face turn from joy to shock along with the other 5 sisters.
“What did you say, Abel?” Nikita asks.
“Those are from your mother.”
“You can’t be serious.” K.C. speaks with disbelief.
“I am serious. Marlene is wearing a pendant from her as well.”
Marlene shows her pendant to her sisters as it glows its lavender hue.
“There are pendants for the five of you as well.” Abel adds.
Abel takes out 5 additional small boxes which has each sisters’ respective names on the boxes. The girls take their boxes and open them revealing necklaces with pendants that are the same color as their eyes. Nikita’s pendant was purple, K.C.’s was red, Rika’s was yellow/green, Lukani’s was gray, and Asa’s pendant was green. Rika decides to examine the pendant in detail.
“This isn’t an ordinary stone.” She determines. “Again, our mother gave this to you?”
“Yes. But I think it would be best to talk about this at the house.”
Everyone agrees and gather their things together to leave the restaurant.
. . . . .
9:00 pm. Everyone was at the Rosa’s household inside the living room where Abel was explaining to the sisters about the pendants.
“I was on a business trip almost a month ago when I saw Natalina. The only thing she told me with these pendants is that they were for you all and she told me to find you all, but she didn’t know that I was already talking with Marlene.”
Rika examines her pendant.
“The pendants are in a tear drop shape.” She explains. “Different colors referring to our eyes, and…”
Before she could finish speaking, the pendant begins glowing along with the other pendants. All the sisters became bewildered as the pendants shine their colorful hues. As this happened, Marlene gets an image of Erika and Marcus, with Erika visiting Marcus in jail, and going to a building and meeting with a man who looked in his late 70s. As the vision ended, the pendants stop glowing. Marlene looks to Abel, catching his attention.
“I saw them again.” Marlene speaks.
Abel understood who Marlene was mentioning.
“What did you see?” He asks.
“They were partnered up. They were making a deal with a… man. An elderly man.”
Abel’s eyes widen with shock. He knows the man that Marlene saw was Harvey. He then looks to Autumn and Vance who thought the same as him. The sisters were surprised that Marlene can have premonitions.
“When did you start having premonitions like Mama?” Nikita asks.
“Since this morning.”
“Is there something that triggered it?” Rika asks.
Marlene slowly looks at Abel then looks back to the sisters. All the sisters get their answer, the pendants. Rika looks at her pendant once again.
“So,” She starts. “Whatever our emotions are or whatever bad is happening to any of us, the pendants will glow. And they’re connected since they glow in unison. My guess is the pendant is made by—”
“Mother’s blood.” Marlene interrupts.
Saying those words surprised Marlene herself along with her other sisters.
“Fascinating.” Rika speaks. “I need to analyze this further.”
. . . . .
9:15 pm. Back at Abel’s house, he, Marlene, Vance, and Autumn were sitting in the living room. Abel was in thought as he placed his hands together.
“It appears Erika is plotting against me.”
“What do you want us to do?” Vance asks.
Abel was thinking hard. He knows that Erika is going to associate with Harvey and has a tampered batch of serum which will turn Marcus into a monster. This made Abel upset because he knows it will lead to a devastating result since it is the polar opposite of what he made. He looks to Autumn and Vance.
“You two need to make yourselves scarce around Erika.” He advises. “If you do come into contact with her in any way, keep your distance and observe whatever she’s doing. I’ll try contacting some people on the inside at the facility to see if they’ll help me.”
“Okay.” Vance responds.
Autumn nods.
Autumn turns from Abel to Marlene. When the two made eye contact, Autumn sees what Marlene foresaw with Erika, Marcus, and Harvey. She then sees the monstrosity of Erika’s creations which made Autumn stand from her seat and grab her head in pain, nearly stumbling. Vance catches her so she could stand still as she groaned in pain.
“Are you alright, Autumn?” Vance asks.
Autumn slowly nods and looks to Marlene again.
“That’s what you saw?”
“Yes.” Marlene replies.
“I never knew anyone whose clairvoyancy could rival mine, especially for a first timer. I respect that.”
“Um, Thank you?”
Autumn smiles in acknowledgement and looks to Abel.
“We’ll be leaving Abel. You both be careful.”
She and Vance leave out the front door to Vance’s motorcycle, leaving Abel and Marlene alone.
“I’ll try contacting some people in the morning.” Abel speaks to Marlene. “I can’t plan out things at this moment. I am such a fool.”
Marlene gets up from her seat and sits next to Abel.
“You aren’t the only one that has to plan, and you’re not a fool.” She reminds him. “We must plan this out together. It’s not just your mess, it’s our mess.”
‘She’s right.’ Inner voice speaks. ‘You may have screwed up, but she’s a part of it. Collaborate with her.’
Abel sighs. “Your right.”
