He led her to her bedroom, where he left her and then headed away to his own. Marina opened the doors and sat in a chair next to her cluttered table. Which was piled with cosmetics, brushes, jewelry and other trinkets. She examined herself in the mirror, pulling her eyes up with her fingers to examine her eyes and then examined the box that her mother had placed for her on her table. She took the earrings out of the box and went to try them on, as Blu was flying around the room, making strange noises.
"Hello ?" A strange voice and knock were heard.
When Marina turned back and saw who was standing outside the doors, she couldn't believe her eyes.
"What are you doing in here? Seeing me in a bridal gown is bad luck!" She smiled widely, happy and concerned to see him at the same time.
"Does it make a difference?" Matias stated it while leaning against the doors, arms crossed and a cocky smile on his face.
The girl sighed and rolled her eyes not caring anymore about him being in the room with her, just half an hour before their ceremony.
"If you want negative Karma in our marriage, that's fine with me. A shame you won't be surprised to see me like this on our wedding night." She smirked at him.
While Marina was fixing her face, hair, jewelry, and other vital accessories for her appearance. They both looked at each other, keeping an eye contact "Well, Matias. Since you're already here, which pair of earrings do you think would look better on me: sapphire or diamonds?"
Matias' blue eyed eyes, squinted. "Diamonds, they are a sign of wealth." Marina returned her gaze to them, and was disappointed that he didn't choose Sapphire. Her mother had requested that she wears them to her daughter's wedding, and she felt upset not keeping the old family tradition. She still wanted her future husbands opinion, since he was going to be her husband after all and not hearing from him what he thinks felt kind of dull.
"So, your father is a very emotional man" says he.
"He cried?" Marina exclaimed.
Matias laughed "Yea, I'd never claim he cries in front of others. He's completely inebriated already. And singing with his mates down there. Although it is quite a shame that he's such a naive man."
The girl was confused to what he said and didn't quite understand the meaning behind it. She looked in the mirror in front of her and continued to look at the young man through it. He shrugged and explained that it wasn't significant in the first place, and that he had come for something else. Marina snickered and remarked, exaggeratedly, "Oh, what could that possibly be?"
He put his fingers on his handlebar shaped moustache, slowly stroking it while looking at Marina. He seemed lost in his thoughts as his eyes wandered on the girl's body.
"I think this is a hint" he said as he moved closer to her and gently kissed her shoulder from behind.
Marina gave him a frightened faint smile and asked him to stop since they didn't have time and she wasn't ready yet and had already prepared everything for later tonight. Matias insisted on doing it and that no one would notice. Marina turned back and told him no in a harsher tone, starting to get annoyed by his repetitive question. She thought for a moment how this is normal for men to feel such strong urges before the wedding. Unfortunately she didn't know enough since her mother was too shy to tell her more. The young man became irritated, ran his hands through his blonde hair and became more
cold as winter, saying:
"You're my wife, you'll follow my instructions. I don't want to hear from you disobeying me. Now stand up."
Marina became pale as snow and was unsure how to respond to him; she assumed he was kidding with her. He should know how much she despises it when people talk to her like that, so he wouldn't... Would he do it? ... The frightened bride lowered her head and told him it wasn't amusing.
He approached her and aggressively grasped her cheeks with his palm, saying, "I'm telling you once, and never again you ungrateful brat. Stand up." Marina recognized he wasn't joking at this moment . "Are you happy?" she asked as she stood up feeling confused. "Can you leave me alone now? I really don't want to argue with you now." The girl asked in an irritated voice. He became enraged at her and hit her at that point because of what she said. "What in the name of God is with you!?" The girl exclaimed in a brittle voice, clutching her chair as her eyes were full of tears, few seconds from falling down like a waterfall and her hand on her red left cheek.
"You don't talk back to me. Understood? I suppose I should lay down some ground rules before we tie the knot. Do what I say, and be a good wife. You should've been taught that already. Oh right, you were mostly taught by maids."
He kept circling in her chamber with his white gloved hands behind his back.
She took some bravery "And what if I don't?"
Matias stared at her with a cold expression on his face.
"You don't want to know"
Marina cried and covered her mouth with her palm, unable to believe what she was about to marry.
"I thought— I thought you loved me—"
"Loved you? Why in the world would I love you. I would never marry you out of love, not even in a million years." he scoffed
The terrifying fiance of hers observed. "Do you realize how difficult it is to be in the same room with you? The nonsense, the chatting the idiocy. And you're so incredibly loud. Lord, do you realize how much of a horrible name you're going to give me? What will people say? That I married a murderer? A complete embarrassment?"
Marina became agitated and responded with an icy stare, "I'm not a murderer... It was a mishap..."
"Are you certain? Is it true or are you deceiving yourself? You were, after all the only eyewitness. Aren't you the one who said that? Regardless, my point is. I don't want you to ruin my reputation. The only reason I'm marrying you is because your idiotic father has some money that I'll inherit." Marina felt like having a nervous breakdown because she didn't know how to respond or say anything in general. Just thinking about her brother dying is triggering, but when she's blamed for it. It feels like thousands of knives have been stabbed into her entire body, all at once.
"Your parents are morons if they truly believe you are capable of getting married, but they don't have a choice since you're their only child. Fortunately, the only thing you have is your appearance." Marina averted her gaze and bit her bottom lip nervously; it became a horrible habit, and her lip began to bleed as a result of how hard she'd known to bite it when frightened, which is usual.
"Then what are you going to do with me? I'm not worth anything! Take a look around! Everyone despises me! Even going to a goddamn ball makes me feel like I'm being watched by everyone. I— I can't even say anything without being silenced—"
Because it made no sense for him to marry her, a lowlife young Neapolitan girl who is despised by everyone for her conduct and past.
"It's that easy. I marry you, because you killed your brother, I get your parents' money, and all of the money will go to me, including the properties." He spoke about it as if he were a psychopath, a child with a passion for violent games and a man with a thirst for war. He strolled over to the window and gazed out at the sea, envisioning the moment when he signs the papers and becomes the legal owner of everything she owns. Hearing what he stated, the girl erupted in wrath, revealing his true nature. She began to scream and attack him, accusing him of lying to her and her entire family about how wealthy he is and how willing he is to help them and her. Matias pulled her away from him aggressively as possible with a hard glance. "It was honestly ridiculously simple to manipulate you. You're so naive that you fall in love with the first man who expresses even a smidgeon of care for you."
"How could you do such a thing to me!?" While looking at him, she screamed at the top of her lungs and fell into tears. "Please, you're so simple that everyone would do such a thing to you and keep you as some doll." he said, looking at her unamused. She took a deep breath and became even more agitated as he continued to speak.
A doll? She has no desire to be a doll! She wants to get out and experience life, go for a stroll alone for at least an hour and travel to different countries and kingdoms. Rather than just being his wife. She was already being mocked at, she didn't need couple of more reasons of everyone to despise her. She became horrified at the prospect of it, and of how much more dreary her life would become. She didn't want that.
"I hate you!"
She'd soon regret ever saying those words after saying them. The man was so furious by her that he raised his leg and kicked her in the stomach as hard as he could with his knee to teach her a lesson and calm her down. Marina knelt on the ground, tears streaming down her face and a strong need to vomit as she grabbed her stomach. "Now now, be kind to me." he said as he knelt down and placed his hand on her chin, pulling her head up and forcing her to stand up again while in immense pain.
"Anyhow, where were we?" he asked, smirking as he clapped his hands.
Marina felt like sobbing as he forced his kiss onto her neck and shoulder, and she begged him to stop several times but he continued to ignore her. "Matias stop— stop please... Stop!" He kept grabbing her chest which made her insanely uncomfortable. The girl swerved around him and dashed for the doors, yelling for help, but Matias caught her and pushed her against the mirror. The slam was so strong that she broke it with her back, scattering glass pieces all over the place. Marina moaned in pain but all he did was grabbed her by her wrist and squeezing it. She gave up at one moment because she didn't know what to do and felt helpless. She tried to push him away with her hands on his chest, but he was too strong. The man pulled her into her bed, and she tried to kick him away and scream for help. But he overpowered her, grabbing her wrists and saying "You don't want to end up like your brother, do you?" She couldn't help but scream as he began loosening his belt and lowering his dark navy blue pants with golden details. She ordered him to stop it again at that point, but he was deafeningly. "Please stop..." she sobbed in a helpless voice "I-I don't want to do this." The young girl didn't know what to do because her heart was thumping so loudly. She shifted her head to the left and closed her eyes, unable to bear the sight of what he was about to do to her. "I will kill you if you scream again." He threatened her. She desired to die at that time, dropped a tear, and surrendered.
The girl was startled by a sudden sharp pain and groaned. Marina looked down at her bed and noticed a pair of scissors close by from earlier when she was cutting a ribbon. She sighed as she tried with all of her power to get just a little bit more closer so she could reach them. Matias grabbed her and instructed her to stay motionless when he discovered she was moving. She was overwhelmed with wrath at the time, as she cried she pressed her legs against herself and kicked him with her legs as hard as she could. Marina took the moment and grabbed the scissors immediately without thinking twice.
"You whore!" Matias grumbled.
He was outraged when she spat in his face and said "Go to hell." He was about to slam his fist into her. Marina stared at the scissors she was holding and then back at him as he proceeded to strike her as hard as he could.
"You'll be sorry." he warned her.
"No, you'll be."
