Marina was left alone in the kitchen with the old lady after all three companions had gone their own ways. Antoni turned around and walked backwards, blowing a kiss to Marina and winking as the trio walked away. She laughed at his folly. Marina got up and walked up to Margherita, asking if she needed any additional assistance. The lady responded "For the time being, I suppose you might start sweeping the main deck. After that, wipe the windows, and then you can relax until three o'clock when I'll be starting lunch."

Marina, after hearing everything the woman has assigned to her, It made her sigh, and it was already difficult for her to picture the work. She inhaled deeply and began heading back to her cabin, where she had left the broom, mop, and bucket. She moved towards the main deck, holding the broom in her left hand. The majority of the crew had already gathered on the deck. Whether it's smoking or inspecting the sails here and there, etc... She feels more confident now, despite the fact that she has already embarrassed herself enough in the kitchen. She didn't want her mood to be ruined by unpleasant thoughts that rushed through her mind.

Marina was also perplexed as to why she had been so quiet the entire time; she is normally a very talkative and gregarious person. It could simply be stress from the previous day. She took a close look at the broom and began to analyze it. To decide out where to put it and to begin cleaning. Marina, being the dumb girl she is, held it entirely incorrectly and began sweeping the deck like a moron. The crew members that were outside and observed her were very perplexed as to what she was doing.

"That is why he should not allow women to board the ship."

" You're absolutely correct."

The two sailors talked about the perplexed young lady.

When she was sweeping the deck, she looked like a complete imbecile. Mr. Santarelli happened to pass by at that same moment. "Wonderful." she exclaimed to herself. She didn't need him to respond with a retort about her inability to tidy. He palmed himself as soon as he saw her:
"Dear God!" He moaned, unable to believe that ladies like her exist at all. She was wary of him at this point and raised her voice, pointing her index finger at him. "Stop being so judgmental! I'm fed up with you! And Francesca, your friend! What exactly is your issue!? Just leave me alone!" He was surprised and gave her a chilly stare.

"I simply wanted to show you how to sweep the deck." Marina felt bad. She stood nervously next to him, handing him the broom and carefully watching him demonstrate. He took a position, rolling up the sleeves of his dark blue sweater. The man began gracefully demonstrating how to sweep, and Marina was taken aback by how simple it appeared when he did it. When he was finished, he handed the broom to her and said,

"This is it. I'm already kicking myself for letting you in."

Marina sighed as she snatched up the broom. She had a relaxed expression on her face "Yes, that's fantastic. Don't you have anything to do as a captain?"

His dark brown eyes expanded. "Oh no, I forgot to—" he was stopped off by the sound of smashing in the lower deck. He dashed downstairs to take care of the matter he had neglected before.

She continued to sweep the ancient wooden deck as he walked away. She observed while cleaning that nothing had been altered in heaven knows how long. Everything appeared to be old, at least two or three decades old. Perhaps even more. While cleaning, she smiled softly, grateful for the captains assistance. Although she still doesn't fully trust him, because he's so unbelievably rude to her. She was just hoping he got off on the wrong foot the other day and is genuinely as sweet as everyone claims. Even when she was harmed in the kitchen, he offered to help immediately, instead of laughing at her.

She was entirely absorbed in her own thoughts at this point. Marina was pondering all of the new folks she's met. That was a new score for her in terms of meeting a large number of individuals in a single day. The girl hardly ever spoke to anyone during balls or other social events. She wasn't interested in the first place and she wasn't fond of privileged brats, daughters of dukes, and such who always seemed to judge her harshly for everything. She jolted awake as she felt a peculiar sensation in her stomach. Because she wasn't used aboard the ship, it was going to happen at some point. The tearful girl dashed to the banisters, stood on her toes, and puked over the edge. Seasickness has taken hold of her; it's something that many individuals who aren't acclimated to ship life, experience. It goes away after a while, which Marina had hoped for.

She leaned on the banister while turned around, facing the deck. She groaned and wished to die. She really didn't need seasickness to ruin her mood even more.

Everything was making her feel messed up. It's not easy adjusting to your new life. Working eight hours a day is exhausting, especially when you've never worked before and are now being forced to do duties you've never imagined doing in your life. Marina tried to bury her regrets. She kept telling herself that this was something she'd always desired and that something would always get in the way. She'll eventually depart the ship and go her own way, once she's become used to everything. Without the captain, her parents micromanaging her, or the entire city judging her for everything. She was fantasizing about the day when she would receive the keys to her own home and be able to dance freely in the living room or anywhere she pleased. She was ecstatic at the prospect of stepping outside in a little seaside town with few people, children running around, the scent of fresh air, and meeting new things and cultures.

The vivacious young lady continued to fantasize about her ideal future. All she had to do was say her goodbyes to her parents, get her cat and parrot, and flee the place that felt cursed at this point.

She gasped out as she realized she was sweeping the floor correctly. With a rush of adrenaline coursing through her veins, she hurriedly cleaned the deck. She was pleased with herself, unable to believe that she had once again done something decent. A little towel and a bucket filled with water and soap were left by the old woman some time ago. Marina grabbed the bucket and towel from the floor and walked over to the windows. She began cleaning the windows up and down, and up and down, attempting to clean each and every unclean area. While doing so, the girl became so comfortable that she began humming a few symphonies. It was soothing, and it made the job more appealing. While cleaning and humming like a hummingbird, she developed a contented expression on her face.

She walked over to the cabin room's window. As she cleaned, the curious girl couldn't help but peek inside the captain's room. Marina couldn't tell what was inside because she couldn't see it clearly. All she could do was make assumptions based on what she could see. Marina was nevertheless happy that he tried to help her twice, and she hoped he would soften up further on her. She didn't particularly enjoy being on bad terms with other people.

By the time she finished her responsibilities, which included washing all of the ship's windows and sweeping the main deck, she was exhausted. It was twelve o'clock in the afternoon. Tiredness got to her, and headed back to her cabin, throwing herself into her uncomfortable bed for a little nap. She was so exhausted that she couldn't bring herself to remove her filthy clothing and ended up sleeping in them. Marina slept for three hours straight. She'd sleep till at least seven o'clock if she could, but she couldn't since she had obligations. A quick touch of a delicate female hand grasped her shoulder while she was deep in slumber, dreaming of whatnot.

"Marina, wake up." To wake her up, she was gently shackled.

"Is it three already?

- I feel like I've been run over by a train."

It was none other than Giordana who had jolted her awake. For her age, she was an extremely promiscuous woman. "Yes, it is. Now rise and proceed to the kitchen!" She yelled at her, pleading for her to wake up. "It's not the first time I've heard something like that." The girl rolled her eyes and puffed at her 1800s styled bangs, wishing they would move away from her face. The stern middle-aged lady marched away, shutting the doors behind her. Marina stood up as soon as she walked out the door and washed her face with water from the washbasin on the oak wood cabinet. She grabbed a dry little towel from the cabinet, cleaned her face, and left.

Marina began to walk away, her mind still on the kitchen. She hoped Margherita and Giordana had already done the cooking and that all she had to do was serve the food. She could smell all kinds of delectable dishes as she walked into the kitchen: pesto pasta, tomato soup, apple cake, and so on...
As she walked in, she waved and said, "Good afternoon." with a bright smile. Several others, including the captain, greeted her at the table. Marina approached Margherita and asked her if there was anything she needed to do right now. "Place them at the table, dear." the old woman said as she handed her two plates. Marina formed an O with her mouth, not expecting the plates to be so heavy or Margherita to provide her with something to do so quickly. Her hands were shaking as she confidently walked over to the dining table and served the platters. The captain's right-hand man rose to his feet "I'll assist you! Don't put yourself through this!" He felt horrible seeing her struggle for the first time with heavy plates and offered to assist her in placing them on the table.

"Leave it." the captain said coldly as he gazed up at Antoni. He motioned him to take a seat with his hands. The man was taken aback by his actions; he hadn't expected it from him. To reach him, he got up a little and bent over the table "What's the matter with you!? Isn't it possible for a man to be courteous nowadays?" Mr. Santarelli's hands were crossed "She isn't stupid enough to not bring a few plates with her. That's something even a child is capable of." He was quite harsh with Marina. She overheard him saying that, but she decided to be an adult and ignore him.

Marina took a leisurely stroll over to the two elderly ladies who were busy cooking lunch for others. She gathered the final few items for the table. The girl straightened up, took a deep breath, and walked over to the table with both hands full. She set down a large golden-colored chicken with a generous amount of spice. All of the items smelled fantastic when combined. The hungry stomach of the fatigued girl began to growl; she hadn't eaten anything and all the lovely food was making her really hungry. She was uneasy seeing everyone eating and sitting at the table. She stared down, biting her bottom lip hard, and dejectedly walked away to her cabin, thinking the food wasn't for her. She moaned, wishing she could just do something herself. Antoni then called her over to sit down next to him. She smiled softly at him and revealed both of her dimples. She sat down and was patiently waiting for her dish to arrive so she could finally begin eating for the first time today. Margherita began cutting the roasted golden-colored chicken and dishing out pieces to everyone once everyone had seated down and was ready to eat. Marina was frightened as she took her plate and was going to give her a portion of it; she nervously looked over at the old lady and explained "I'm sorry but. I don't eat meat." She was always sensitive when it came to animals, one of her weakest spots. Just the thought of chewing on meat made her guts twist.

"What? Is something wrong?" Marina asked

Margherita made a confused and annoyed face expression  " Nothing, you could've just stated something sooner and I would've made you something different." Margherita exclaimed as she set her dish down, unable to think of anything more to give her. The captain chuckled, "We always have salad." and Margherita smacked him behind his head, yelling at him that he isn't funny. The girl nervously giggled saying "It's fine— I'll just have some soup! It's really not a big deal." She stood up and grabbed across the table tomato soup, pouring it on her plate and sitting back down, trying to enjoy eating in peace. Just as she thought that Antoni started asking her numerous questions. She let out a sharp sigh and rolled her eyes, at this point she can't even eat.

"What brought you here? Where did you formerly reside? Why do you choose to not eat meat?" He was becoming increasingly obnoxious with his questions, but for some reason, others were also interested in her responses. "I'm not sure, but I think I enjoy traveling. I'm from Naples, actually." Marina took a spoon in her hand once more, only to realize that the spoon isn't made for a soup. It bothered her for a moment, since she got used to her parents correcting her which fork or knife is the right one for any type of food. The girl sighed and tried to relax, since she isn't with her parents anymore and attempted to take a drink of the soup. "Naples! That's very intriguing! I went there once and had a great time. I'll come back and you can show me around!" Antoni was ecstatic.

The girl on the run laughed at his response. "Of course." She said that, knowing full well that she would never return. She finally managed to eat something after answering all of his really grueling questions. Lunch had a pleasant effect on her. Everyone was friendly and there were a few laughs. Plus, the meal was incredible. Despite the fact that the only thing she ate was a regular tomato soup, she became really ill once more. She reasoned that this meant she had consumed too much of it, but she was wrong. "Where's the washroom—" she hastily rose up and excused herself. Francesca gestured with her finger and swiftly conveyed the directions to her. Marina ran to find it before she could finish. She was in the Head, which was also where the washroom was. She noticed a towel as she opened the washroom doors and hurriedly grabbed it, placed it on the toilet seat, and got down on her knees. Marina immediately puked and began sobbing. She couldn't take being unwell all the time any longer. Bad thoughts began to flood her mind, and she concluded that her persistent nausea was maybe caused by pregnancy.
