They had a moment of silence, and the girl was irritated with him for not standing up for her when it came to their parents. He should be aware that they are not always possible. Rocco took a deep breath and smiled slightly as he smelled the fresh air. He missed going on horseback rides with his sister and had forgotten how relaxing it is to gaze down at the city and the beautiful, sparkling clean sea. He grinned and asked, "Did you meet any boy last night?" He tried to transition to some pleasant themes so they didn't quarrel the entire time. Marina became flushed and scared, exclaiming, "Oh! I'm not sure— does it mean he likes me if he gives me a few glances?" She was inquisitive and wanted to know if the boy liked her, and since her brother was one, he should know. Rocco paused for a second before deciding to tell her the truth and make her happy by lying and answering, "Yes, definitely. You were, after all, the only girl in the nicest dress." Marina squealed with delight and was overjoyed at the time. A boy? Liking her? It seemed as if a fantasy had come true. She yearned for a companion, but she yearned much more for a lover. Her brother was overjoyed when he saw her so enthusiastic about anything. He has always longed for her happiness and makes every effort to spend time with her, but he is unable to do so on a consistent basis.

Marina couldn't help but inquire about Mia when they were discussing relationships. "How is it with Mia, though?" She had a devilish smirk on her face. She had a lot of fun tormenting him about her. When Rocco remembered his sweetheart, he grinned. His one and only love. He looked down and smiled for a bit before continuing, "I was meant to propose to her today." as he reached into his suit pocket and took a little velvet box. His sister stared at him, her eyes wide with disbelief at what she had just heard.

"Propose?"

"Yes! I've been planning it for months! And I wanted to ask for your approval as well. She's after all, your best friend." When he opened the box, a stunning engagement ring that was exactly appropriate for her was inside of it. Marina grinned, overjoyed to learn that Mia would be her sister-in-law and that her brother would be married. But then she had an awful realization. "Wait... you're getting married? So you're going to live with her?" Her question perplexed Rocco. "Isn't that what marriage is all about?" The girl couldn't say anything. This can't possibly be happening. He and Amelia were her only companionship, and now she'll have to say goodbye to them as well. "But, we won't spend much time together?"

"Don't be silly; I'm not going to the moon. I'll still see you, but not as frequently as you'd want." Marina was relieved that Amelia wasn't at their place today, since if she had been, they would have been engaged by now.

The girl felt terrible. Why now, of all times. Why is he getting married now? If only he could do it after she gets married to someone. Just not just now... Marina sank to her knees, unsure of how to feel. She became outraged at one point, blaming everyone but herself. She decided to do something against her parents' wishes and changed the direction of their journey. Marina tapped their horse to make it move quicker, and they began descending to the city. Her brother noticed her changing directions and screamed at her to tell him what she was up to. "I wanted to change roots, and I did, easy as that." Marina said, an irritated frown on her face. "You informed our parents that we're staying in the neighborhood!" he yelled at her. "And that we're going to be quick!" Marina pretended she didn't hear him by pressing her lips together and looking elsewhere. Going downhill, Rocco was a little nervous because everything was slick and the roads weren't as wide. He sighed, his frustration with her palpable.

"Can you tell me what's wrong with you today?" He inquired, angered by her actions at this moment.

"Do you want to know what's wrong with me? I'm furious! You're going to leave me alone!" Marina became enraged and yelled at him. Her brother couldn't stop giggling at her attitude. He couldn't believe her way of thinking at times. "Marina I'm about to tie the knot! I'm not going to war!"

"You know, I sent Mia home just so you and I may spend some time together," the girl smiled as she wiped tears from her eyes. "But in the end, all we've done is fight—" When Rocco heard that, he became pale.

"What did you do?" Marina panicked, forgetting that she hadn't told him the whole truth. She tried to make it seem better, but she ended up sounding just as selfish as before. "Ah, I was simply looking forward to spending some time with you! You constantly hang out with her, and I've always wanted to go out with you..."

"I knew it!" her brother exclaimed as he buried his palm in his hair and took a big breath. "I had a feeling she wouldn't just walk away without telling me anything!" Marina became envious when he only thought about her again, and she continued, "You constantly leave me for her..."

"You are the most immature person I've ever met in my entire life!" Rocco exclaimed as he glanced at her. "You only care about yourself and don't give a damn about how others feel! You have no right to send her home without informing me! I was the one who was supposed to see her today, not you. You have no right to send her home in general! You've officially crossed the line, I can't believe it." The girl began to cry, sniffed, and uncomfortably smiled as she said, "I see..."

"Yeah, and I can see why you don't have any friends."Rocco continued. Marina was shocked and enraged as he said it. "How dare you say that!" she exclaimed. "And how dare you send her away!" he yelled at her. "What's the matter with you?" The young girl tried to persuade him that she was just doing it because she adored him and wanted to spend time with him. Rocco began to lose focus on the horse and the road while fighting with her, and he began to get too close to the road's edge. She stretched out to rest her arm on his shoulder to express her gratitude, but all he did was twitch and say in a harsh tone, "Please just stop touching me. I'm no longer able to look at you. I just want to get this riding over already." To her, everything went black. Her own brother was disgusted by her. Perhaps the issue isn't with others, but with herself.

She was too ashamed to blame herself for her actions, and she had no intention of ever admitting it. Marina kept averting her gaze from him as she was embarrassed. "I can't believe you're acting this way toward me, after everything I've done for you." she merely said. "You?" he asked, laughing. "You doing something for me? What about you being unappreciative of everything I've done for you? You wanted me to teach you the things I learnt in school every day after school, which I did for a long time. I've always tried to make your life easier by introducing you to my pals. I even made sure you were safe from other people! And how are you going to repay me? By chasing Amelia away? Even though she did absolutely nothing to you and always tried spending time with you as well. In every way, I loathe you, truly."

"Fine," Marina said, her nose twisted as she stared at him with a shattered heart. "I loathe you as well." Rocco was still enraged, and he began insulting her, calling her names for being so irresponsible and dislikeable due to her nature and conduct. Marina continued to ignore the situation and couldn't wait to get home and retire to her bedroom, where no one would bother her. Then, in an instant, The horse moved too close to the edge, stepping on the ground and causing the earth to crumble. "Marina!—" he screamed in horror as they both and the horse plummeted downhill. This wasn't supposed to happen. This wasn't how he planned out his day and for him to fall into his doom. As soon as they slid off, the man collided with a large boulder, breaking his neck and falling to the ground. The horse got up and was terrified, so it started jumping around and then broke Rocco's ribs with its legs. Their horse bolted away, far away from him, but Rocco was gasping for air.

Marina was in immense pain from the fall and gasped for air in panic. When she turned around and saw her brother, she kept saying no to herself, unable to comprehend what was happening and wishing the fall had been less severe, despite the fact that it had been a massive fall. Marina instantly ran up to him although her legs hurt and got down on her knees, softly laying her hands on his face and breaking down in tears, assuring him that everything would be fine and that she would go get aid and return home, leaving him free to propose to Mia. Rocco scarcely looked at her; his eyes had stopped glistening and had lost all life. "Marina I'm terrified! I don't— I don't want to die." Rocco spoke as his lungs began to fill with blood, making it difficult for him to breathe and even speak.. He drew his final pained breath and died in her arms. Marina was terrified as soon as he closed his eyes and stopped moving.

"No, Rocco! Do not close your eyes! Please! You can't treat me like this— No!" Everyone nearby heard her screams for help as she continued to scream in anguish and cry as loudly as she could. "Please... Don't leave me alone, I love you..." Some people recognized the twins and went to their house to alert their parents, banging on their doors. Mrs. Rivalli was the one who opened them and in confusion asked what happened so terribly, and when she heard what had happened, she immediately dropped everything she was holding at the time, and tears began to fall like a river. The wife grabbed her husband's arm and began sprinting to their children's location. She spent the entire time blaming herself for everything that had transpired, saying things like, "I shouldn't have let them leave! Everything is wet and slippery," she cried, "oh God, I hope our boy is okay." Mr. Rivalli kept wiping tears from his eyes, not wanting to disturb his wife by crying in front of her. "I just hope he didn't break anything." the man expressed his hope that his son was still alive. They both sobbed as they descended the hill and saw their daughter kneeling next to Rocco. Mrs. Rivalli dashed over to her son, pushing Marina away and knelt. Her hands were trembling as she reached out to touch his bloody face, and she burst into sobs even more. "Rocco, my love, please open your eyes—" she pleaded, her voice trembling and afraid. Mr. Rivalli covered his lips with his hand as soon as he realized he was dead and began crying as he had never done before.

His wife screamed in pain, resting her head on his crushed chest, pulling at his garments and pleading with him to wake up. Mr. Rivalli collapsed to his knees, screaming and clutching his wife and children. Marina's mother gazed at Marina for a brief minute before becoming irritated and exclaiming, "I told you to watch out! And you said you'd stick with Vomero! Why were you both here in the first place!?" Marina cried out in an attempt to defend herself, covering her face with her hands and saying, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I just wanted to visit the city for a while!" Her mother wanted to slap her as hard as she could. She was overwhelmed by a variety of emotions and had no idea how to manage them. The man screamed at his wife to cut it right now, that now isn't the time to blame anyone for anything, and that it's them two who are to blame for allowing them to go out.

"We have to get out of here. I don't want people to congregate around me. You're aware of how old individuals are." As he grieved and stared at his dead son, the husband exclaimed. He gently kissed his wife's forehead and sobbed, telling her, "It's alright, it's going to be alright." He wiped her tears off her cheeks and softly kissed her forehead, then leading his forehead on hers like cats and wept. Marina just stood there, terrified, holding herself in place because she didn't know what else to do. She felt terrible that her own mother blamed her for her brothers death and she didn't even bother asking her if she's fine or if she broke anything. As Mr. Rivalli stood up, the man placed his hands under Rocco, gently scooping him up and held him. "Im sorry, my son; I know you would have despised this." His wife couldn't stop crying; the entire walk to their house was difficult since she couldn't stop crying. Everyone kept staring at them, perplexed as to what had happened. Mr. Rivalli kept looking down at his child, when holding him in his arms he felt as if he were a newborn again. He cried as he remembered the days when he'd sleep in his arms, and now he'll sleep forever. Rocco looked so serene in his father's arms, his head resting on his father's chest, that he appeared to be sleeping. If only it weren't for the blood on his face. The young lady walked behind her parents, humiliated and horrified by the sight of Rocco. She was even afraid to approach her parents, fearing that they would keep blaming her for everything, as they always did. She rubbed her arm and sobbed, feeling bad about everything and how things had taken a turn for the worse in a matter of seconds.
