Sinking into the bed, feeling incredibly tired from the commotion. My muscles and sinews felt jarred from today’s experiment. After coming across a similar technique in the Marquess’ library, nothing changed. Both methods did not work. Stumbling over the family’s secret of materializing mana was good as useless.
It had been weeks, yet I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t internalize the elemental mana. Despite numerous research efforts, the only reasonable conclusion would be that this body wasn’t capable of using internal magic.
People of this world primarily rely on internal magic circuitry as their traditional method of attaining magic. Normally, they are capable of manifesting and storing the elemental mana into their core through specialized oaths, which would allow maturation and the ability to access that energy without needing an external source. Thus, Internal magic allows the users to permanently manifest magic without being surrounded by nature.
Based on my understanding, there were no problems in extracting the elemental mana from my surroundings, simply using Mana Fission to break down the element’s atom to its purest energy form this resulted in a byproduct which I call Elemental Fission Mana「EFM」.
Another potential source of power was the Oath of the Wolfsbane, exclusively used and heavily protected by our lineage. These specialized oaths share similar qualities with Mana Fisson namely the breaking down of the elements to「EFM」, but the difference is how they get to it.
No matter how much I break down the atoms into Elemental Fission Mana, my body rejects it.
Being incapable of storing「EFM」is the same as not being able to use magic. Mana Fission was still my preferred method of choice when materializing「EFM」since it does not require a ridiculously long incantation and preparation like the exclusive Oath of the Wolfsbane.
Despite the disappointing result, I was still desperate to use magic. After all, mana is the lifeblood of this world. It primarily relies on magic, powered by magic, and fought with magic. Failing to adapt to this kind of environment would only spell my doom.
The weaves of blue speckles begun to float around me almost immediately as I began to activate Mana Fission.
Although I may not be able to use magic internally, there still exist a method of using it externally.
From what I have read from the history of magic, external magic utilizes the elemental mana to control an existing element. I could see why people aren’t really using this primitive technique, although it did not require core absorption and maturation, this method has its downsides and made it impossible to evoke magic without needing an existing source nearby.
Elves were the first documented species that had used external magic as they were surrounded by natural elements. Nevertheless, seeing as they are currently on the verge of extinction, the only way to combat this external method is to deprive them of the elements, rendering them useless and unable to fight back in the end.
That wouldn’t be a problem for me though.
Glancing around the room, my eyes catches an empty white basin. Using【The World】, water flowed and filled the surface of the basin.
Let’s see if this could be a perfect medium…
With a different priority in mind. I focused on the energy byproduct of Mana Fission,「EFM」and its color corresponds to its elemental source.
From a bowl of stilled water, I harnessed its energy by breaking it down via Mana Fission. The resulting energy is the floating bluish substance. A Water「EFM」which was based on its origin.
I manually channeled the Water「EFM」in the external environment rather than inside my body and core. Tiny balls of energy were harnessed slowly and painfully to overlay each water molecule’s surface within the bowl.
Using Water「EFM」to control the molecules, it slowly condensed into a small, fragile insignificant marble of water floating in the air.
Perhaps, this was the only way I could use magic.
Physics aside, the small floating marble of water reflected the shimmer of the golden furniture of the room, highlighting its absurd magnificence.
Suddenly, without much of a knock, a maid burst into the room.
I jumped in surprise, losing my concentration.
As if it was encoated in a bubble, I hopelessly watched the carefully curated globule of
water fell onto me.
Soaked with disappointment, it manifested into a full-blown tantrum.

I might have underestimated the process of using magic because it took another 2 years before I was able to start on my original objective and have some grasp on the usage of my own magic.
Instead of the traditional way of using magic, I switched my focus to the external use of it which I call Fission Magic. It was an upgraded version of something that was used in the past. It was understandable that this method faded when the natives of this world discovered their internal magic circuitry.
Thus, they didn’t have to worry about having to repeatedly break down an atom to channel their magic, as the magic has already settled within them.
At least I was not confined to a specific element. Being born into a family who prides themselves in wielding water and earth, people expected my affinity would be the same as theirs.
But that can only apply if I was capable of using internal magic which required a core to store and absorb mana. As affinity is basically just how easily you can mature an elemental core.
I was able to control elements not only limited to Water and Earth, however I’ll need this constant raw source as my medium.
Problems only arise when I do not have the raw materials to act as a source nearby. However, by using the power of the【The World】, I could summon anything to act as my raw material as fuel to create「EFM」.
I might say, I wouldn’t have to worry about running out of it soon.
The world is my oyster and yet it feels like I was cracking that oyster with my bare hands.
It was a painful, tedious, and draining procedure. Using「EFM」entails having a ridiculous amount of patience and concentration. Even after 2 years, I was only able to carry a kilogram of the elements without physically straining my body.
It’s a hassle. But, it was better than nothing.
I was beginning to envy people who can release it at will without having to worry whether they’ll lose consciousness or suffer a backlash from the prolonged usage of magic.
Staring at the frittering green strands of「Elemental Fission Mana」, its mana waves converged with the air forming a small whirlwind.
It was another pathetic result.
On the bright side, at least I wasn’t utterly incapable of magic
