The Bow That Reversed My Fate

Chapter 3: A Military Tactician

Chapter 3: A Military Tactician

Apr 29, 2023

Dahlia sat in her room with a map of the Empire spread out on her table. She had been spending her days studying battle strategies and analyzing the enemy's movements. The war had been going on for a year now, and the Alugia Empire had yet to make any significant progress. Dahlia knew that something had to be done to turn the tide of the war.

Just then, there was a knock on her door. She quickly hid the map and opened the door to find the second prince standing there.

"Dahlia, can I come in?" he asked.

"Of course, Your Highness," Dahlia said, stepping aside to let him in.

The second prince took a seat across from her at the table. "I heard you've been studying the war," he said.

"Yes, Your Highness," Dahlia replied. "I've been trying to come up with a plan to turn the tide of the war."

"That's good," the second prince said. "I've been talking to General Arin and Tactician Rayan, and they're both impressed with your knowledge of battle strategy. I told them you were the one who predicted what the Agnowa Kingdom would do and you are the one who offered a solution."

"I came here to seek your opinion on the battle at the western boarder," The prince said. "I believe the third prince's plan is just too ludicrous. Too many lives will be lost if we follow his plan. I believe your opinion on the matter would help greatly. "

Dahlia felt a sense of pride at his words. It was true that the third prince's plan would fail and Alugia would only amass more casualties if they followed the plan hence prolonging the was but she was not willing to miss this chance.

Dahlia knew that in her past life the solutions she provided were simply solutions and tactics the Royal Tactician Rayan De Lazure Stanford eventually came up with and shared with the princess after the war had been won.

She remembered the one time during the period when Rayan had been her teacher where he would randomly begin to talk about how he should have used such and such a tactic to win the war earlier. He also predicted how the Agnowan Army would respond to a tactic and added counter tactics. She heard all the possible ways from Rayan to the point where she became sick of it and sometimes all she would think about before going to bed would be the war tactics and strategies.

"However," the second prince continued, "General Arin and Tactician Rayan are hesitant to take advice from a young girl. They're both very traditional and believe that battle strategy is best left to experienced men."

Dahlia felt her heart sink. She had expected this kind of reaction, but it still hurt. Dahlia's plan was to get the attention of her teacher and gain favor from her half brother Raymond and she knew her teacher more than anyone in the palace. She knew that to get his attention she had to use the best plan possible that she could remember. Raymond then said,

"Even though they wouldn't trust the words of a child, I believe in you, Dahlia," the second prince said, looking her straight in the eyes. "I've seen a glimpse of your ability to strategize, and I know you can come up with a plan that will work. I want you to share the details of your plan with me and I will present your plan to General Arin and Tactician Rayan. I will show them what you're capable of."

Dahlia looked Raymond straight in the eye and said, "I will tell you my plan on one condition," Dahlia confidently said,

"If you keep it a secret that I am the one who had told you this plan I will tell you everything you should do to win the war."

Raymond had a hard time understanding why Dahlia wanted this but he did not waste time accepting Dahlia's conditions.

Dahlia felt a surge of excitement at the second prince's agreement. She knew the kind of person the second prince was from her past life. In her past life Raymond Von Raigen Alugia was a cold prince who showed no interest in weak and useless people but on the other hand, he valued outstanding people. She knew that for her future plans to work she needed to have Raymond on her side and this was her chance to prove herself and win him over.

The next day, Raymond packed his bags and set out for the front lines. When he arrived, he was greeted by General Arin and Tactician Rayan.

"Your Highness," they both said, bowing to him.

Raymond felt a pang of discomfort at their formal tone, as he was pretty close with both Tactician Rayan and General Arin, but he pushed it aside and got straight to business. He presented Dahlia's plan to them, going over each detail and explaining why she thought it would work.

General Arin and Tactician Rayan listened attentively, asking questions and discussing the plan with him. Raymond was shocked as to see that Dahlia had already predicted the questions the two men would asked and gave Raymond answers to their questions. At the wrap up of the meeting, Raymond felt a sense of satisfaction. Raymond was surprised that they had taken Dahlia's plan as he remembered Rayan shouting "This is Genius!!" during the meeting. He could see the gears turning in their heads as they considered her plan and made preparations.

But the real test was yet to come. The next day, the Alugian army engaged in battle with the Agnowan army. Raymond watched nervously from the sidelines, waiting to see if Dahlia's plan would work.

At first, it seemed as if the plan was failing. The Agnowa army was pushing back hard, and the Alugia army was struggling to hold its ground. Raymond felt a sense of dread creeping up inside him. Had he been wrong? Did he overestimate Dahlia? Had the plan been a failure?

But then, he saw the Alugian army start to gain ground. They were using the strategies Dahlia had come up with, and they were working. Raymond couldn't hide his shock as a smirk drew across his face. Dahlia's plan had worked! And it worked perfectly with nearly no casualties.

The battle ended with the Alugia army emerging victorious. Raymond felt a sense of elation at the sight of the Agnowa army retreating. Dahlia had done it. She had helped turn the tide of the war.

As the army celebrated their victory, Raymond couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. The war which had gone on for years had finally come to an end all thanks to the 10 year old princess.

When Dahlia heard the new that the war had ended she felt a sense of relief. She had used her knowledge of the future to help prevent further casualties and end the war more quickly. She knew that bigger threats would come in the future, but for now, she was just happy because she knew that  she had won over two three people.

As Dahlia walked through the palace halls, she felt a sense of satisfaction. However, her joy was short-lived when she remembered the bigger problems that would follow after this incident. Dahlia begun to return to her room as she regained composure.

When she entered her room, she found the second prince waiting for her. He looked worried and said, "We need to talk."

After informing Dahlia of what happened the prince then revealed to Dahlia that the emperor and the third prince had found out that it was her plan and she had a part to play in not going with the third prince's plans.

Dahlia's heart sank. She didn't know how the emperor was going to react to her actions but she knew the third prince would be furious with her for going against his plans, and now she was going to face the consequences.
