The tavern is about to open and there are a hundred people lined down the street. From Gnomes, to Orcs, to Elves, and even Dragonborns, all have come to celebrate the third anniversary of The Blue Rose. Everyone from nobles to peasants to even slaves has come to celebrate an amazing moment. Who were to think two nobodies were to make such a place for them to be themselves without judgment?
As the doors open business booms, and people are ordering shots of vodka, one of the strongest liquors available at the bar. People are even ordering the Rose Specialty, which consists of vodka, blue curacao, and rose water. Yet there are some who aren't into all the fancy drinks and order just a plain ale.
For this special occasion, Menzost and Adamar have pulled off all the stops. They decorated each and every table, chair, and even booth in a blue and rose-colored design to truly dignify that this is The Blue Rose.
Both Menzost and Adamar are behind the bar for this day, both have been serving drinks since opening and it is not going to slow down til closing time. They even decided that there is going to be one special twist with today. For the first time ever the tavern is serving a small Blue Rose Patiserre to symbolize that today anything can happen and no one will stop them. Today was all about them, the tavern, and the life they have created for themselves.
"Ah, Closing time. My favorite part of the night is when we just get to clean and then relax." Menzost was relieved that today was finally over. The major rush that lasts an excruciatingly long time from opening to close is finally over. He looked over to Adamar who was sitting at a booth relaxing and having a stressful day. "You okay hun?" Menzost asks while walking with a plate full of patisseries that they had extra.
"Im fine babe, I just can't wrap my head around this blue figure," Adamar says while bringing a patisserie to his mouth.
"Why do you say that hun?" Menzost exclaims as he just sat down.
"I'm pretty sure I saw the person who you were so obsessed with tonight during our rush." Adamar glances up to look at Menzost only to find Menzost has a look of terror on his face. "Are you okay babe?" Adamar's concern growing.
"I'm fine hun, I think I just need to go lay down for a bit" Menzost then proceeds to get up and starts to make his way back to their house which is only a few hundred feet away.
Adamar gets up to finish cleaning the tavern as Menzost has gone to bed and now that Adamar is alone he can finally get some work done.
Whilst Adamar is finishing cleaning The Blue Rose, Menzost is walking home when he notices something strange on their door. It's one of their dogs' collars with a note saying "I have taken him somewhere where the blue man can protect him" ending with a Blue Fingerprint and a signature on the bottom "Iden Fester".
That's how Menzost knows the figure, Iden Fester was a friend of his grandfathers back in the Great War. It was presumed that he was missing as he never returned and there was no corpse to put a name and face to.
Menzost rips the collar and notes off the door and storms into the house, he searches every inch of the house to find his dog, Gascon, nowhere in sight.
So it was true, there were rumors of Iden Fester still being alive, only in fables for it was told. About how a blue man was to creep around places where he shouldn't and take things from loved ones' families with which he had contact.
Gascon was gone, Iden Fester was alive, and Menzost thinks Adamar won't believe a word he is about to tell him. He places the note from Iden on the table and sits on the chair beside it waiting for Adamar to come home.
Two hours after the tavern had closed, it is fully cleaned and resupplied. Adamar finally gets to lock up the tavern and is on his way home. Adamar comes into the living room to see Menzost sitting at the table, with a note beside him.
"Oh thank god you're home hun," Menzost exclaims as he rushes up to give Adamar a hug.
"Okay. What's going on babe, you never give hugs unless something is majorly wrong." Adamar looks down at Menzost.
"Just come take a seat with me please" Menzost leads Adamar to the table and they sit directly across from each other.
Adamar picks up the note and starts to read it while Menzost is staring into his eyes to distract himself from the oncoming sense of reality they both have to face. "What the actual fuck!" Adamar yells throwing the note. This jolts Menzost back to reality and has his eyes stray away from Adamars eyes. "Who would do this to a family?! Who would do this to us!?" Adamar is starting to turn ruby red which is unlike his very cool and collected personality.
"I know who it is hun," Menzost says while grabbing Adamars hands.
"Well who the fuck is it and what do they want with our family and especially Gascon!" Adamar is still on the verge of breaking something and nothing seems to calm him down.
"His name is Iden Fester, he was a friend of my grandfathers in the Great War, everyone presumed he was either missing or dead since he never returned home from the war. I presume he is alive or some form of alive" Menzost starts to tear up thinking about what had happened to his family, and what possibly might happen to Gascon.
"How is he still alive babe? Wasnt the war a hundred years ago? And if he did survive or only partly, what is he now?" Adamar is getting more confused by the second as if someone put him in a spiral room that was perpetually spinning.
"I don't know what any of this has to do with Gascon but I can tell you that I don't think he is human anymore. The war was a hundred and five years ago since it ended and no human can survive for that long. Something must have taken him and changed him to be what he is now." Menzost is at a loss for words when he realizes that Iden is something so natural and unnatural at the same time and yet he is even more confused about what Gascon has to do with this.
"Something is definitely unnatural about this Iden guy, no way can a human live that long especially off the grid. He must've had some outside help or better yet, he could've gone to Stuya instead of Estros after the war." Adamar is trying to grasp at straws for a natural reason for what happened to Iden but none is coming up.
"We have to do some research about this later but for now, I think we should just sleep it off, hun." Menzost proceeds to get up to go to bed. "I love you Adamar."
"I love you too babe.”
