As the sun begins to rise, neither Menzost nor Adamar has slept. The thoughts running circles in their mind have yet to calm down since the news of Gascon and Iden. As they lie awake in the bed that they share, Menzost turns and looks at Adamars blue eyes.
"Hey, hun," Menzost says while staring intensely, "What do you think Iden wants Gascon for? I mean he had to take something from someone's family he knew so why us?"
"I don't know babe" Adamar has no idea what is going on with Iden, he never even heard of the man until last night on the note that was left and what little Menzost has told him. "There has to be a reason for it though, maybe we should check out the library to see if we can find anything about this Iden character and how he correlates to anything".
"Sounds like a plan to me hun, also good morning by the way," Menzost says while getting up to get dressed.
"Morning to you babe," Adaram says as he also stands to get dressed.
"Which library should we head to hun? The one other by the tavern or the bigger one on the other side of town." Menzost asks while pulling his braies up.
"I say we go to both but start at the one by the tavern so we can say we are closed for the day after a long day before. Plus then we can grab some food there that was left over from last night" Adaram suggested.
"That works for me hun" Menzost is now heading out of the room and towards the door. "You coming hun"
"Of course babe."
As they make their way towards the tavern, they see a few familiar faces from the tavern last night asking them for some more drinks but they have to decline saying "The tavern is closed after such a successful day yesterday! We hope you can understand!"
The tavern is spotless from the cleaning Adaram did after Menzost left for the night. On the counter, there is a plate of pastries that were left from the celebration. They take the plate and bring it to the closest table that they find.
"I'm so glad that you left these out for us in the morning hun," Menzost says trying to break the silence between them.
"I didn't know we were going to be closed today so I guess it was just a safety measure if any of our customers wanted any. I guess we can use this day as a sort of rest day in a sense even though we aren't going to be resting" Adaram says while eating a pastry.
"We really should go start researching this Iden man 'cause this all seems too unfamiliar for us to go in blind," Menzost says as he's eating the last pastry.
"Alright that's the end of them so let's get going"
While they walk out of the tavern, they turn to the right and start heading towards the library closest to them. Even though it's a smaller library, sometimes they have all that they may need.
As they enter the library, there are a couple of people reading silently in different corners of the room trying to mind their own business. Menzost and Adaram head toward the counter to talk to the librarian.
"Hello, I am hoping you could help us. We are trying to find a book about the Great War." Adaram proceeds to speak to the librarian.
Without a word, the librarian points a figure towards a corner of the room that has a sign that says "History".
"Oh, Thank you!" Adaram exclaims as they toddle off towards the corner.
Once they approach the section, they look at the books and realize that all of these are talking about the Great War. They each grab a large book and sit down at the nearest table to the shelves. Reading through each book they find that there isn't much information about the nation of Stuya but more so that it seems like all of these books are talking about the nation of Estros in which they reside.
Adaram proceeds to stand up and goes back to the shelves to see if there is a book about the history of Stuya, to no surprise there isn't any. He makes his way back to the librarian leaving Menzost behind to read his book.
"Excuse me, ma'am." Adaram hesitantly says as the librarian seems agitated enough already.
"What do you want from me?" the librarian exclaims as if Adaram has provoked her in some way.
"Oh, I'm sorry to bother you. I'm just trying to see if there is any book about the history of Stuya. Do you know of any in this library?"
"There isn't any. You have to go check the library on the other side of town for those banned books to be found." The librarian says with a disgusted face. "I don't understand why people keep asking for them here, I don't support those types of authors in my library."
"Excuse me?" Adaram says. "They are books about our history as a nation and we can't educate ourselves because of your incompetence. Thank you for your time ma'am."
Before the librarian gets another word in, Adaram storms to get Menzost and heads to the next library.
"I can't believe that fucking bitch." Adaram says as they exit the library and turn to go to the next.
"What happened hun?" Menzost asks "Did she say anything about us cause if she did I will go throat punch her right fucking now."
"No need for that babe, I dealt with it. She was saying how she did not allow books about Stuyas history in her library stating how they were 'Banned Books' because they went against what she believed in. So I told her why should it fucking matter and then we left." Adaram was proud that he didn't need Menzost to come to bail him out of the situation and that he handled it well himself.
"Alright, hun I believe you. Just know if you need anything I can always help" Menzost says grabbing Adarams hand.
"I know babe, that's why we stick together. Cause we are a dynamic duo,it'sher it's us out and about or just in the tavern." Adaram says crouching down to kiss Menzost atop his forehead.
They reach the library as it towers above them with the sun sitting directly atop of the highest roof. It's about noon and they have some time to research all about Stuya here without the idea of incompetence.
As they enter the library, the towering shelves of books stare upon them as if they had millions of eyes staring right at them. The smell of old mildewy books with a bit of mold settles up their noses.
Menzost begins to sneeze as the smell makes him slightly uncomfortable but yet surprisingly nostalgic. They come upon the librarian's stand where a nice gentleman stands.
"Hi! How can I help you two fine fellows today?" Hepolitelymanner while exchanging looks between the two men.
"We are trying to find history about Stuya," Menzost says as if Adaram wasn't about to speak for the both of them like he normally does. It seems as if Menzost only comes around to make sure no one will mess with Adaram but he knows that's not true.
"Ahh, Stuya history you say. That would be in the corner called 'Foreign History' There should be a sign for it over there by the history section."
"Thank you so much. You are far much better of a help than the library in town was." Adaram proceeds as he shoots Menzost a look as if it were to say 'Talking is my specialty'.
"Alright. If you guys need anything just let me know!" the librarian exclaims as he turns to continue his work.
"What the hell was that hun?" Menzost asks as if he did something wrong.
"It's nothing I just wasn't fully expecting you to take the lead on this," Adaram says trying not to hurt Menzosts feelings.
"It's fine. I understand. You want to do all the talking." Menzost says as they reach the Foreign History section.
"It's not that babe. It just threw me off guard. I'm sorry. Love you" Adaram says as to make amends.
"Love you too." Menzost exclaims as he reaches for a book called 'The History of Stuya: During the Great War'. "I think I found what we are looking for."
"I think so too. Let's find another so we can both read it." Adaram suggests. They find another book similar called 'The Great War of Shendon: Stuya'. They take their books to a table and they proceed to start reading like no tomorrow.
By the time they finish their books, it has already become dark and the library barren. Closing time for the librarian. "Would you guys like to check these books out today? They won't need to come back for another week if so. You guys seemed pretty invested in what you are trying to figure out." the librarian says.
"I think we will check these out, just some research you know? Stepping into the unknown." Adaram says as they gather their belongings.
"I'll see you guys in a week, make sure you don't forget!" the librarian exclaims as the men head out of the library.
