The group sat on a picnic blanket under the moon night. It's packed with food and drinks that make their eyes glitter just like Shawn's.
"By the way, what's your name?" the boy asked.
"Well, I'm Oliver, this is my brother Asher in the back, Carter on my right, and Hunter on my left." Oliver introduced and the rest waved at Charlie.
The boy looks at Ian, implying that they should be introduced as well.
"I'm Ian, and these are my niece and nephew, Nikki and Shawn." Nikki smiles nervously, but Shawn energetically waves his hands at them.
"My name is Charlie, and this is my third night here. We just moved here, and I'm pleased to see new friends."
Shawn and the four proceeded on a feast together.
"Nikki? Come on," Shawn said with a full mouth.
"Oh, no problem. You can eat mine," Nikki says as she pushes her dish towards Shawn, who gratefully accepts it.
"So, Charlie, how did you find out about our existence?" Dean questioned, opening the subject. Charlie smiled as he looked at the moon.
"Well, my grandmother used to tell me stories, and I always believed it was just a fairy tale, but it turns out it's real, and it's unusual for people in the rural area to cosplay, right?" Charlie asked, taking a quick glance at everyone.
"I appear normal," Ian says after scanning himself.
"Your hair color didn't say so," Charlie says as Ian checks his hair and realizes the same thing.
"So, how are you two related?" Charlie inquired, taking an apple from the basket.
"Four of us are brothers, no mother or father," Asher explained.
"Strays." Carter added and munched the fish on the plate.
"Hey, you can stay in our house, it's a big house with lots of food," Shawn explained, and the four glanced at him.
"You mean Rain's?" Nikki asked.
"Don't give them false hope, you hardly have a house because Rain's parents are strict," Ian's brothers said. "You can't stay in my place either, because my older brother is territorial."
"Oh, you have a brother too? I don't have one, I'm an only child. Is he Nikki and Shawn’s father?" Charlie inquired.
“No, their mother is my sister.” Ian clarified.
"How lovely that you're all related," Charlie added.
"Oh, except for Nikki, she is adopted," Shawn blurted, everyone stopped and glanced at her.
"Umm... I'm fine with being adopted," Nikki remarked awkwardly.
"Have you tried looking for them?" Charlie inquired.
"I... have no idea about her," Nikki said, looking down and fiddling with her fingers.
"It's not hard to find your family because your color is uncommon in this area. Most of the cats here are black or orange, and it's rare to see a three-colored one," Hunter explained.
"So, I'll be able to find my family?" Nikki's face is filled with hope.
"I'm afraid not, we've been wandering in this place for a year but it's our first time meeting a cat like you, I'm sorry." The face of Nikki has fallen after hearing Oliver.
"It's okay... I may not have known my true parents, but Jade has been a nice mother to me, and I'm grateful," Nikki said with a smile.
The group later finished eating and cleaned up.
"Hey Charlie, want to come with us? It's moon night, so there'll be a lot of attractive ladies at the park," Carter remarked.
"You guys can get lost now, I'll look after the kids. All you do is hang out at that park, do you know how dangerous it is?" Ian scolded.
"Why Ian? Where do you spend all your time?" Shawn asked.
"Oh right, we've never seen you go to the park till now," Carter remarked.
"Oh, you know that forest near the lake?"
"Ahh, that? Why do you go around there?" Hunter asked.
"Well, if that's the case, you're boring Ian, why would you spend your night there when you can enjoy yourself at the park? I thought the neutered one was Dean, not you," Oliver laughed.
"... and the leaves are terrible," Carter whispered, but Ian overheard him.
"Well, it's not nasty, and I'm not boring. I simply like spending peaceful time, is that a crime?" Ian sulked.
"Ian let's go, it's gonna be fun trust us." said Shawn. Nikki looked at him with a smile. He will look bad if he declines plus they are Jade's children he'll be dead if he won't look out for them.
"*Sigh, fine. Charlie." Ian surrendered and called Charlie, smiling and tagging along with them.
