The next morning, Sasha woke up with her new friend still wrapped around her neck. She smiled at the sight of the cute flame creature and then looked around the bedroom, searching for Lysandra, the unknown woman who kindly took her in. The winged woman wasn't in sight, so she got up and walked to the door.
She stared at it, a beautiful wooden door with a tall tree carved in it, wondering how to open it. The door had no handle. Sasha was very puzzled. She delicately slid her fingers across the engraving and found that there was a bump at the center of it. When the little girl pressed it, the door opened by itself.
Sasha took a step back, she had never seen a door open by itself, but her curiosity took over, so she walked out into the hallway. The young girl saw two other doors in the corridor, one with a wooden sign with a pink dolphin-looking creature painted on it and the word bathroom on it, and the other had an oval frame in which was a portrait of Lysandra.
Sasha ventured further into the peaceful home. The entire house was filled with unfamiliar plants, just like the room she had slept in. She finally found Lysandra, sitting at a round table, covered with a probably hand-knitted tablecloth, in the kitchen at the end of the hallway. The woman looked away from her breakfast and redirected her gaze toward her refugee.
-Good morning dear! I'm glad to see that you and the little dragon are getting along well, she said, pleased. Please come sit with me, child, I have food for both of you.
Sasha took a seat in front of the winged woman. She offered the little girl a small bowl of what she called bulpear root soup ( a soup made out of the roots of a bulpear, a plant whose bulb looks like a pear) and a slice of mushroom bread ( bread the shape of a mushroom and with mushrooms in it). Lysandra then threw the baby dragon a piece of meat the same size as him.
That little creature is going to eat this whole thing?! thought Sasha.
-So, how old are you? asked the angel in an attempt to catch Sasha's attention.
Sasha turned away from the dragon savagely feasting on its meal. She frowned, thinking hard. The girl was hesitant to share personal information with this strange woman that she just met, even if she was nice to her until now.
-I'm.. 13, Sasha finally responded. What about you?
-I'm 23 years old, already in my twenties. I'm getting old, don't you think, little lady? she said with a wink.
Sasha giggled.
-Oh, I forgot angels live forever, she said sarcastically. Lysandra chuckled at her own joke but composed herself quickly. There's someone I'd like to present to you today. Since you will spend an unknown amount of time in Egea, you have to learn a couple of things regarding our world, and I found the perfect teacher for you, my dear. She's a young adventurer who has travelled in all the lands. You will be in good hands, I guarantee you. I find her to be impolite and unintelligent, Lysandra muttered quietly. But anyway! Would you please leave the dragon here while you are out?
-Alright? Sasha responded, uncertain.
Why would I need to leave him alone here? she thought to herself.
The girls ate silently, and then, the angel brought Sasha outside, where her tutor was waiting for her. While walking next to Lysandra, Sasha kept staring up at her. The girl didn't notice it until now, but the winged woman was ridiculously tall. Sasha was around 5 feet tall, but Lysandra reached an astounding 6 feet and 5 inches.
Sasha looked ahead and saw an even more peculiar-looking person. the woman, who looked only a bit younger than Lysandra, had dusty pink hair and her hairstyle was, well... let's just say strange would be an euphemism. The cotton candy-haired woman had pale, but still quite vibrant, green feline-looking eyes and milk chocolate skin. She was wearing an orange poncho-cape, worn-out hiking boots with small wings coming out of them, green pants, an old leather bag and a ruby-engraved golden belt. The woman was also very tall, approximately 5 feet 11 inches, and muscly.
-Hey kid, my name's Morgane. You're Sasha, ya? I'm your teacher. I'll teach you everything I know about Egea. You can go now, pila-Lysa, The strange woman said with a mocking tone, smirking.
-Oh god, even Sasha isn't as childish as you are, scoffed the angel while shaking her head in disapproval. I'll be on my way now. Bye.
