One Day, I Kicked a Stone and...

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

May 12, 2023

My life in this new world has started to take a new turn.

First, we found a cave to use as a shelter.

Then by the wisdom of my master’s guidance, I crafted some tools using stones.

Then by using the said tools, I managed to build some nice furniture, not really nice but it was decently useful stools, racks and tables.

I also learn how to be a hunter in order to find some food and some other things.

Well, that’s what I’ve been doing for around… two months?

Really… two months have passed by?

I take a sit on my handmade stool and place my skewered fish near the fire.

Pushing my glasses, I ask my master who is sitting(?) on another stool, “Hey, Master, Why it seems like I’m the only person in this area? I’m not the only human in this world, did I?”

[Hmmm… the last time I took a look at this world, the human race still exists somewhere.]

“Then…”

[There was a really big war happening at that time. Hmm.. Now I think of it, I don’t even know what the outcome of that war.]

“Eh?! Then it is super dangerous out there!”

[It was super dangerous indeed. That war burned every available land… No, even the vast ocean can't escape. Oh, well. I’m pretty sure the time has long passed. The war must be concluded by now.]

“Haa….” I stretch my neck to look into the cave’s ceiling.

[Why that deep sigh?]

“I was thinking about going a little far away, probably enough to get out from this forest. Maybe I could find a civilization somewhere.”

My eyes take a peek at all my handmade products.

“Then, I don’t have to live like someone who just ascended from the stone age.”

Blunt tools made of stones, foods only made by roasting or grilling and clothes… Urghh, I’m still wearing my school uniform. I only take them off when I want to clean and dry them. And I will use some leaves as a temporary measure. No one sees so…

[Heh, no matter. If you want to find a city or even a village. There are probably some out there. Humans are not the only intelligent race in this world, as opposed to your own world. But, as long as they are not hostile, there’s no need for distancing.]

I take it as my master’s blessing for me to go on an adventure. It lifts my spirit for sure.

[However, with your own current state, hmmm… probably dead before you could even get out of this forest.]

Now, now. That’s not how to crush someone’s hope.

“Well, I can probably… avoid dangers, could I?”

My mouth says so but my logical thinking is already against me in my head.

[Now, now, a wimp like you should never go venture outside. Especially when I already appointed you as my guardian. Don’t even try to shame me by letting your butt be handed off by some weak monsters.]

“Just now you said…!”

[If you want to go outside, then you shall need to pass my test. There is no way a benevolent master like me will allow my guardian to live with little to no self-defence. Hmm… I also need you to run some errands for me when you go outside.]

Could it be?

“Wait! That’s too early!”

[What’s it too early?]

“I supposed to gain some superpowers by default, gain some comrades, go defeat some bad guys, meet boss enemies and then... Yes, that’s when the training arc is supposed to be started!”

[Your head works funny but no, we don’t do that here.]

Master refutes me so fast.

“Then, isekai harem…”

[We also don’t do that here.]

“Urghhh, I supposed to be hit by a truck…”

[I can still hit you like a truck, you know. Now what your training will be~]

Master sounds so happy when he is thinking about training me. But me… Urghh, let's just see what’s going to happen.

“Ah, the fish overcooked.” I take my burned fish and take a bite in dismay.
