I stop the horses that are dragging the carriage; there’s someone or something following us, I get out of the front of the carriageand hold out the dull lantern in front of me. Artemis looks at me; he’s curious. Twigs snap as something or someone walks towards us.
A woman-like figure comes out of the shadows and into the lantern’s dim light. It’s. . . Marybeth?
“Marybeth? What are doing out here? It’s dark out! You might get hurt out here!” I exclaim. My mind races; confused on why Marybeth followed us all the way out here. Why did she? What made her come out on her own like this? My heart and my thoughts racing like a mad-man.
“I followed Artemis here, have been. I know who set you up to burn.” Marybeth spoke with an angry tone. My and Artemis’ eyes slightly widen as we both look at each other curiously. I furrow my eyebrows a little, and ask Marybeth, “Who?”
“Do you remember Fae, right?” She asks me directly. I ask her why because I do remember a little about my loves friend. I slightly arch one of my eyebrows, while the other is still furrowed.
“Well, t turns out yond Fae toldeth the augurers yond thee w’re a beldams because that gent wast jealous of our relationship. So, i punch’d that gent in his disgusting nose causing his button nose to bleedeth, and same with mine own knuckles; i’m still full of rage from his po’r actions!” Marybeth exclaims angrily. My eyes burn as tears form from my tear ducts. Marybeth notices and she walks towards me; she stops walking when she is just inches from my newly healed face. Marybeth raises her arm and places her soft and gentle hand on my left cheek, wiping away my salty tears. It so happens to just dawn over me that, I might be a emotional wreck whenever Marybeth is mentioned or when she’s around me. My heart beats faster and it pounds louder in my boney chest as I feel Marybeth’s lips caress my own.
As we separate, Marybeth says something to me in a whisper: “You’re like the sun and I as Icarus. You’re my weakness in this world. I hope you feel the same way, Lilith.” Some red tinted blush appears on my rosy cheeks. I avert my gaze from Marybeth a little for a moment; my blush deepens to darker shade of red and it spreads across my face to my ears. I can’t explain about how I feel right now, but I just know that i’ll do anything for my dearest star in my eye.
“Well, good thing I do feel the same way my dear, Marybeth. Or shall i say my star?” I ask as I answer Marybeth. I see a smile creep up on the corners of her mouth; it seems that I made her quite happy hearing my answer.
