It's not worth it to look, to get even the slightest glimpse.

It's not worth it, not worth the risk to your sanity. Your life.

It will never be worth it to see it, the beauty it embodies, the power it posseses, the control it has over you.

Never look at it, its piercing eyes, its grotesque form, twisted and mangled beyond recognition of whatever or whoever it used to be. It's whispers become audible with your growing awareness of its presence, it may sound like a close friend or family asking for help but do. not. look.

That's what I've been told all throughout my childhood. That's what I've been told to live by.

Resist and live is what I was supposed to live by.

But now... I not only find myself looking, I'm staring, and I can't find the will to stop. Not to move, not to blink...not to breath. Mother was calling, "Come rest dear," its strangely melodic voice whispered to me, "you've had a tiresome day, you must be tired."

Yes.., it has been a long day, far too long...so very tired.

So much energy just to think.

I just need to rest for a while. I might not wake back up but that doesn't sound too bad.
