Chapter 9 – look not in my eye, for fear
Two days after Aiden dramatic confession, a Sunday, he prepared to go out on a date. A café shop near the closest train station to the campus. While Aiden was love-struck, Kai’s doubts he always had about Clara began to emerge.
“Something is really off about her…. Aghh.” Thought Kai as he entered the campus on Sunday morning.
“Anyway to clarify… should I use that power…?”
“Hm…. But it extremely goes against morals…hmm.”
As he roamed around the campus he accidently met Lunar. He said her. His worries about Clara. Hearing that Lunar joined in without a discussion and they both began searching for Clara.
“Awkward.” Thought Kai as he walked with Lunar in complete silence.
“It’s a date right? It is a date right?” Lunar thought, suppressing her smile trying to put on a bland face.
“Umm… anyway do you really think Clara is a bad person?”
“Hm… it’s no- it’s just a gut feeling.” Kai said in a resigned voice.
“Hmmm… but I think she is a good girl.”
“Yeah I think so too, but something is really off.” Said kai with a worried look on his face.
“After all it’s Aiden we are talking about… him landing a date that fast…oh! Maybe because of my advice?”
Kai and Lunar left the campus and went to a donut shop at noon, Lovely’s donut and coffee, which is 100meters away from the campus. They sat near window facing the road. Kai ordered a strawberry glaze with latte while lunar ordered chocolate glaze with black coffee.
“So, what is it that bothers you about Clara, Kai?”
“It feels like she is lying about something… or hiding something… I can’t say for sure.” Said Kai, as he took a bite off chocolate glaze.
“But I think she is a good person…After all should I really use that power?” wondered Kai.
“Hmm… Kai….KAI.”
“Yes, Luna-?”
“I ordered the chocolate~.”
“Oh… I’m sorry I was thinking about something and….”
“I’m sorry.”
“No, no, it’s alright.” Said Lunar in a gentle voice.
“Hey Kai, it looks like an after school date, right? Hehe.” Said Lunar in a shy, meek voice looking down.
“I guess I shouldn’t have said that… it’s not like he sees me like that… he probably think of me as another frie—“ Lunar thought as she slowly lift up her head.
Kai’s face became entirely red. He sat there without moving completely frozen on the same position with his eyes becoming big as he stared right at her. Lunar quickly averted her gaze from Kai. Kai snapped out of it and covered his face with his hand to hide his blushing face.
“Wait…huh…whaa...Wait wait wait….hmm What?”
“K-Kai, does Kai see me like that to—“ Lunar thought, while raising her head a bit to take a peek at Kai.
“I-It’s not like that… it’s…the...um… sun…it’s the sun. Sun is so hot today, huh? Phew, soo hott~.” Said Kai still not looking at her while fidgeting.
“Tsundere Kai! awdlbehg;wklnf.”
After that, awkwardness continued. They became completely silent while both not looking at each other, both looking at the floor and averting gazes and taking light peeks at each other. Lunar turned to the window and saw Nagisa and Clara walking towards the campus.
“H-Hmm… Kai, it’s Clara!”
Both rushed out to them.
“Good morning, Nagisa.”
“Moring? It’s already lunch time, Luna—“
“Nagisa looks like you both hit it off pretty well, huh?”
“Yes, of course Kai C-H-A-N~.”
While they were talking professor Draven walked towards their direction waving his hands.
“Good morning X-I-O-A Kai.”
“Good mor— Good afterno… How do you even greet at lunch time?”
“I dunno. But you should have invited me for donuts, Kai. I smell donuts from you.”
“Wait, No It was a date!” Kai said in a spur of movement making Lunar and himself to blush.
“Fufu…” Laughed Nagisa and Draven as they put their hands on his shoulder.
“Aaah…stop it you two, seriously stop it.”
“Oh…! It’s Clara right, didn’t see you there. I guess we haven’t properly introduced… I’m Kai Kitagawa.”
“Oh umm… I’m Clara Dolion.” Replied Clara as she shook his hand.
“The Gods Eyes”
“Hmm… interesting, truly interesting… an ambush at the café, huh? ~ truly interesting.” Kai said out in a loud voice while still holding onto her hand.
Professor Draven reacted in a matter of second and trapped her in a closed dimensional space, cutting her chance of escape. Everything went so fast Clara didn’t even have the chance to think of escaping.
The Gods eyes – gods eyes shows Kai, the past and future of the person he touches. But the past and future shown are a fabricated alternate version in which there is no Kai’s intervention.
The End.
