I watch as Cydney leaves. Her blonde hair getting in the way of her bright green eyes as she waves back at me. I swear my cheeks went red because she started to laugh at me. I smile. I close the door and sit down on the chairs in the sunroom. I gaze out at the foggy rain outside. Storm comes rushing into the sunroom. “What’s up,” I ask, “Why the rush?”. He doesn’t answer just runs out through the door. Maybe he didn’t notice me there, never really talks to me much lately. I look back out the window, I spot Storm. He’s talking to someone’s. I look closer to see that Cydney s standing there talking to him. I keep watching to try and pick up what they are talking about and that’s when I see Storm kiss Cydney on her cherry lips. My jaw dropped open. I can’t believe what I’m seeing. I fall back onto the backrest of the chair. I watch as Storm runs back to the door through the rain. I stand up and walked up to him. I can’t remember what I said but I just remember screaming at him. He looked frightened and confused. I run upstairs and flop onto my mattress on the floor. I lay there, tears running down my face like a water fountain. I don’t know why I care so much. I’m not crying over kiss; well, I don’t think I am. I didn’t mean to yell at Storm like that. It might have just been Storm’s way of saying goodbye. My door squeaks open. I suddenly sit up and wipe off my tears. A small white fluff ball runs over to me. His tongue licking my nose. “Toby!” I laugh trying to get him off my face. I pick him up and put him in my lap. He’s grown so much since we got him two weeks ago. Toby sits there panting in my lap. He looks up at me with his bright green eyes. Looking at Toby’s bright eyes suddenly make me feel better. I ruffle his soft, white fur as he lies down between my legs. I hear a knock on the door.
“Go away!” I yell to who I presume is Storm.
“It’s just me Elodie.” Mum opens the door and comes and sits on the mattress. I wish she would stop acting like she actually loves me. She puts her hand in my hair. ‘Get your fucking hand off me!’ I duck away and flop backwards as Toby comes and sits on my stomach. Mum sits there and looks at my tears. “Is it about a boy?”
My consciousness suddenly returns. What the fuck? She stares at me exited. I don’t know what to say. I can’t tell her it’s about a girl. “Yea.” I say stupidly.
“Awww Honey,” She strokes my arm. It feels like she is trying to spot every small opportunity to touch me. I push my arm away and place it on Toby’s small head. I look up at Mum. She’s sitting there acting likes she’s hurt that I moved my arm away from her. She sighs angrily, “Okay then” She gets up and leaves through the door. As soon as she shuts it I stick my tongue out at point the middle finger at the door and mouth ‘Fuck you Mum’. I switch my lamp light off. I pick up Toby and place him in his dog bed next to me. I stare at the ceiling and close my eyes to try and get some rest. I scream and kick my sheets off my bed which startles Toby. I figure out it’s better to just study. I pick up my textbook and turn on the lamp. About two hours later my eyes start to feel heavy. I then collapse on my book.
The light is glaring through my window. I rub my eyes and sit up from my mattress. I reach for my phone to check the time. Thank God it’s not a school day because I would have slept in for two whole hours. I get out of bed, push my textbook on the floor and reach down to get my phone. My eyes almost pop out at the amount of texts Cydney sent me. 158 texts from Cydney, 62 missed calls. I ignore her. It can’t have been that important because she would have come to my house. I walk downstairs to get breakfast to find mum and dad fighting. Just the usual. I grab the fridge door handle and grab my mango smoothie. I put in my ear plugs so I can’t hear them and open the texts Cydney sent. ‘FUCK!’ I jump up and the chair goes down with me. That folks, that is when the drama began.
