The thunderous sound of the mighty steel locusts' wings resounds across the horizon of Brazil, reaching the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. As they venture further, the imposing helicopters come into view. Soldiers and scientists stand in awe as they gaze upon The Isle of Carnishk, an enormous pulsating geological formation, an immense living entity of an enigmatic nature that had remained concealed from radars and maps. Only a few months ago, a sound resembling a colossal heartbeat reverberated through the seas, captured and recorded by several Brazilian military stations, leading to the discovery of the island located in the deep expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, far from the country's coastline.

Lia Barbosa, a renowned marine biologist leading the team of environmental researchers, furrows her brow as she strains her vision to see beyond the scorching sun that limits her view. "I don't even know what to say, Clara," she murmurs to her colleague. "This defies all science. Can you see the ground expanding? It looks like a living heart..."

Clara Torres, an experienced environmental journalist, observes the island alongside Lia, using an advanced pair of binoculars. She furrows her brow and responds, "If you don't know what to say, Lia, just observe. Save your words to convince the soldiers not to start shooting at any creature that might be there." Clara lets out a restrained laugh as she casts a playful glance in the direction of the exploration platoon commander, Alexandre Ribeiro.

Alexandre turns to the control panel and monitors the real-time data being analyzed. He responds with seriousness, "You talk as if we were monsters, Clara, but I can't deny that I'm extremely vigilant. I take control of the situation in the face of any risk. It's my duty."

The panel emits a yellow signal that says, "Ideal landing area found. Proceed to the location indicated on the map."

"Follow the training instructions, soldier. Make a safe landing and position this metal carcass on top of that mass of flesh. Understood?" Alexandre demands of the pilot. The pilot signals that he understands the orders and initiates the landing route.

As the helicopter hovers over the island, they catch a glimpse of a fauna and flora that seem to belong to another world. Clara, using her binoculars, observes fascinated as elongated worms feed on the tissues and fluids of the island, unexpectedly devoured by something resembling a dog-sized beetle. The sight is so surreal that she can barely contain her excitement, knowing that she is witnessing an unparalleled scientific discovery.

Approaching the ground, which resembles a robust scalp full of pores from which vigorous hair strands sprout, turning the area into a brown pasture, the helicopter cuts through the vegetation with its blades, as if combing silky hair. As the strands separate, small leaping rodents scurry away, leaving behind small succulent fruits they were feasting on. Alexandre grimaces, feeling repulsed by the environment.

"Why does every corner of this place remind me of an autopsy, a crime scene? Everywhere my eyes reach, I only see hair, bones, and pieces of flesh," he murmurs, hurrying to put on his triple-filter mask, an impenetrable defense against pathogens.

Lia, trying to adopt a more optimistic perspective, responds, "The essence of this place differs from anything you've ever seen, life here originated through other means. With my team..." she smiles at the other scientists, "...we will discover how all of this came to be."

Clara sighs, watching the hair strands sway, and comments, "It's regrettable... The research we'll conduct cannot be disclosed to the masses. Just imagine the chaos that would ensue if everyone knew? Have you thought about that?"

Alexandre interrupts Clara with a sharp gesture of his hands. "Too bad, Clara, but it's the rules, it's all in the contract. You and everyone here will have to comply, understood?" He huffs as he jumps out of the helicopter, which is about to land.

"All of you, disembark and set up your equipment. We need an analysis of the island's soil and air. Additionally, establish communication with the base to report our arrival," orders Alexandre. He starts making his way through the hair strands towards higher ground, where he intends to place a box with the components of the communicator, ready to be assembled.

As he begins to walk, Alexandre hears a sticky and repugnant sound, which makes him feel nauseated and hurried. With determination, he pushes the strands aside with the barrel of his weapon, eager for a clear view of the ground and to position the crate correctly. But in an instant, a shiver runs down his spine, and he loses balance, falling backward in complete astonishment. There, among the strands, a humanoid figure crouches, staring at him with penetrating eyes, as if it had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

She has fiery red hair, blue eyes, and an unparalleled tan skin tone that couldn't be achieved on any beach. The tan lines are like muscle fibers. Her body displays toned muscles, while her clothes are in vibrant colors like a rainbow.

Alexandre, barely getting up from the ground, points his weapon determinedly at her head but is taken by surprise when she begins to speak.

"Incomprehensible speech," the being whispers amid a collection of unsettling sounds, dental grinds, frenetic beats, swallowing saliva with effort, and a nasalized tone. Her expression is curious and conveys a strange joy upon seeing Alexandre, leading her to touch him. However, concerned, Alexandre fires warning shots to keep her at bay.

She jumps back, desperate at the loud sound of the high-caliber weapon being fired by him. "Flee from here, stay away from me!" As he gets up, leaning on the weapon to avoid slipping, he looks ahead and sees several heads emerging among the hair strands—several of them.

Lia shouts to everyone, hands covering her head in a state of profound fear. "Nobody shoot, nobody do anything! Damn it! We're surrounded!"

Hello everyone! I'm Koalator, a drawing enthusiast (since I couldn't find work in the field) and I love creating stories. I've been doing it since I was a child!

This isn't the first story I share on this platform, but I hope it's the first one I finish. The idea came from a whirlwind of crazy ideas during a brainstorming session, and it resulted in "The Isle of Carnishk".

My plan (if everything goes well) is for the story to be short, yet fun and unique, thanks to its theme. I'm doing this to become more familiar with the structure of "beginning, middle, and end" in stories.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it! Please feel free to offer suggestions, corrections, or point out any flaws in any aspect. I appreciate your understanding and support in advance. Thank you very much, everyone!
