A good hour ago, the members of the secret cult had arrived, entered the building discreetly, and since then had been preparing everything, as they did every other Sunday.
All the members had known each other for some time, were relatives, friends or co-workers. The first time they had summoned the ancient entity was on a whim, after a party or some event. Where the old book came from, none of them knew, but the ritual described in it had worked.
After the summoning, two things had become clear to the small group. First, that the entity was not what they had expected, and second, that they would repeat the incantation regularly from now on.
They had pooled money to rent the old warehouse, and in the last few weeks they had furnished everything there to suit their needs. And so the warehouse had become their little temple, the temple of the Cult of Yrtsap.
The preparations were in full swing. Blankets were spread on the tables set up in a rectangle and the necessary utensils and devices were distributed on them. Then the cultists put on their robes, all in white, some with patterns.
The high priestess waited a moment until everyone had taken their places, and after a brief pause, she began the incantation. The cultists gradually joined in the surprisingly cheerful chant, and after a moment the bright lighting flickered once briefly and a white cloud appeared in the middle of the table rectangle.
Joy spread across the faces of the cultists and they all raised their hands in greeting.
A soft deep voice sounded from inside the cloud:
"I greet you, human children! Are you ready to once again share in the wisdom of Yrtsap?"
All the cultists affirmed with great joy, and the high priestess spoke, "Great Master, let me thank you again for your wisdom, the results of the last lesson have found great favor among your followers and their friends!"
"It gives me great pleasure to hear this! The well-being of my human children is very important to me!" The voice from the cloud sounded cheerful, and also a little pride. Two large but very gentle hands came out of the cloud, holding several scrolls. Then the entity called Yrtsap said:
"And now be prepared to hear my wisdom of today! Um, what did I teach you last time?"
"Cheesecake with raisins, great master," the high priestess replied kindly.
"Ah yes!" said Yrtsap, and all but one scroll disappeared. "Then hear what I will teach you today: crumble cake with cherries!"
After that, the entity began to name the ingredients, which his followers noted down, and at the same time the arms brought to light everything needed from the cloud.
And under the guidance of their ancient master, the cultists began to prepare and bake cakes that were more delicious than anything humans had ever made.
At each meeting, the members of the cult learned new wonderful cake recipes, which made them widely known. The ancient entity Yrtsap took great pleasure in passing on his vast knowledge of cakes and confections to the people, for it brought them happiness and harmony.
Affectionately, he looked down at his followers and thought to himself:
"Why do other entities always demand sacrifice and subservience, I wonder? When people are happy it is much nicer!" Then he laughed out loud and went back to taking care of the cakes.
