The early morning sun cast a warm glow over the bustling streets as Emma Roberts hurried to catch her train. She clutched her coffee cup tightly in one hand, her other hand gripping her bag filled with work essentials. As she weaved through the crowd, her mind raced with thoughts of the day ahead.
Lost in her thoughts, Emma's attention wavered for a split second. And in that very moment, fate intervened.
Emma collided with a stranger, causing her coffee to spill all over her crisp white shirt. She gasped in surprise and frustration, the hot liquid seeping through the fabric.
Emma shrieked in suprise "Watch where you're going!"
The stranger backed up "My apologies. It was an accident."
The stranger's calm demeanor only fueled Emma's anger. She didn't have time for apologies or accidents. She was already running late.
"Whatever. I don't have time for this. I'm late for work."
Without another word, Emma rushed off, leaving the stranger behind. As she hurriedly made her way to the train station, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt for not acknowledging his apology or even saying thank you.
Arriving at the office building, Emma hastily entered the lobby, joining the sea of employees bustling about. She glanced at her watch, realizing that she had only minutes to spare before the day officially began.
"Great, just what I needed. Another morning of rushing around."
As she made her way to the elevator, she noticed a crowd gathering near the entrance of the building. Curiosity piqued, Emma ventured closer and discovered that the CEO of the company was giving a tour to some potential investors.
She watched from the sidelines as the CEO confidently spoke, his presence commanding attention. Emma couldn't help but admire his charisma and leadership, even from a distance.
"One day, that'll be me. I'll climb the ranks and make my mark in this industry." Emma whispered to herself.
With a renewed sense of determination, Emma tore her gaze away from the CEO's captivating speech and continued on her way, eager to start her day of tackling graphic design projects and appeasing demanding clients.
But before she reached her desk, Emma found herself in the break room, seeking refuge and a momentary reprieve. And there, in all her clumsy glory, stood the intern, Lily, with a tray of freshly baked muffins. Lily turned with the tray in her hands and a smile on her face. The smile quickly disappeared as her foot slipped and the tray including the muffins went flying into Emma's face.
"Oh no! I am so sorry, Emma!" tears seemed to well up in Lily's eyes.
Emma looked down at her coffee stained and chocolate smeared blouse.
"Breathe in breathe out, in out, in out" Emma calmed herself down. Lily's overreactions always made her feel like the bad guy.
"No worries, Lily. Accidents happen. Thanks for the muffins. and maybe wear flat soled shoes."
Emma brushed chunks of crumbling muffin off her shoulder, grabbed her coffee mug and headed toward her desk.
she reached into her purse for her company ID only to discover that it was missing. she sat down with a sigh and rubbed her eyes. well, with all that happened this morning, the day could only get better, right?
