“what is it?” He took a deep breath once more while putting on a serious face.  I quit stretching now that I realized this wasn't a joke but something important to him. I could tell he was serious which wasn't his style meaning he felt like this was something quite big. 

“We have been friends for a long time right?” I sit in a nearby chair and slowly become concerned 

“yea, for 20 years almost” he sighs and looks away, he was very strict about eye contact when talking to someone so to see him lose eye contact was very concerning 

“laakea is something wrong, is someone severely injured or something” he shakes his head and takes a knee in front of me. I thought nothing of it since he usually did that to see my face. 

“This has something to do with me and you..” he talked in such a serious manner it was kinda scary and hot but I quickly became focused 

“What about us?” my heart begins to pace scared of what he was about to say

“He digs in his pocket and pulls out a small box when he opens it, revealing a ring with a ruby and an alexandrite on it.

" Well what do you think?” I was stunned by this. 

“i...why are you showing me this” he looked at me with a genuine 'are your stupid face' 

“remember you wanted to ask lyz to be her other parent on her certificate?”  I felt so stupid for a moment. I needed a moment. I take a deep breath and stand, 

“I think it's perfect, I hope she likes it” he smiles before also standing 

“I think she will love it” I force the biggest smile on my face to hide the overwhelming disappointment I was feeling. I grab the ring and enter my house 

“So do you wanna  watch a movie?” I shake my head. I felt too disappointed to do anything. I had got all my hopes up hoping he would ask me to be his boyfriend only for it to be destroyed by reality that he had no romantic feelings for me and that he saw me more as a friend and a person to coparent with than a possible lover.
