Oliver asked for a taco of potato and egg once Finn was finished with what he was doing. Finn put up his anti splash screen that covered the pan from the customers.
Still seeing that Finn was down; Oliver decided to take out a piece of paper and a pencil and started scribbling something.
There was silence between them, but it was quite comfortable as music from Finn’s stand was populating the air.
Finn was adding the finishing touches when he brought down the little screen and put the plate in front of Oliver.
Instead of serving some tacos; this time Finn served a plate of eggs with refried beans and sausages on the side.
Oliver smelled the beans and sausages before he saw the plate, and was surprised when he actually saw the plate. The plate was completely different from the plates Finn uses to serve costumers. The plate was completely over taken by the food though; with four fried eggs, a handful of beans, and three thick sausages.
Oliver remained speechless and looked at Finn.
Finn looked everywhere except at Oliver’s eyes.
“Uhh it’s on the house. I just can’t stand the fact that your so skinny!! Anyways you’re a regular so it’s about time you get special treatment…” And he kept on rambling, trying to justify himself.
“You should come more often, I’ll cook you more hefty meals to- but this should be kept between us as my other regulars would throw a fit…”
Oliver teased, “So you treat your regulars all like this?” He started to eat the food.
Finn blushed a deep scarlet, “N-N-No, it’s just you— I mean costumers are really importa-“
”At this point I wouldn’t be a costumer, right?”
Finn froze and was about to say something when Oliver interrupted once again.
“But at this point, we’re just acquaintances. No real connections between us.”
Oliver cut down any weird feelings and expectations from this encounter. He continued eating.
Once Oliver left, there was a piece of paper left behind. Finn thought it was for Oliver’s school, but it was a drawing of Finn cooking. The drawing was pretty rough, but it highlighted the face mainly as it showed Finn’s almond eyes and his tanned skin. It showed his pulled back hair, as it was in a half pony tail. In the drawing he was cooking with a pan.
Finn thought about how Oliver could be hot and cold in just a second.
‘How can I get closer without getting poked by this little porcupine?’
Oliver didn’t want to dwell on Finn so he left after eating his plate. Unwanted feeling would just slow him down.
This week was alternate classes for the whole student body. Alternate classes were basically specialized courses designed for each individual student; with a professor assigned to each and every student from the grades of freshmen through senior year.
Oliver managed to get a very strict profesor that always wanted him to work out. Something about building stamina and not being so physically weak without his mana.
He managed to walk to the meeting point, which weirdly was an open field. When suddenly Olivers world went face down, he felt a harsh blow to his calfs that swept his legs to the side. Oliver face planted down with a face full dirt and mud greeted his face.
Someone dusted their hands and sighed, “Ive told you to use your mana to sense your surroundings 24/7.”
Oliver got up and coughed while wiping face and dusting himself off.
“It is such a waste to have all that mana, but never use it.”
Oliver fully cleaned himself and faced his teacher.
”Ms. Rosemary, can you please stop sneaking on me, you’ve been doing this since we first met…”
Julia Rosemary, a spunky women that had curly hair that reached her shoulders. She had white skin that easily gets tanned in the sun, so most of her body was covered by clothing and hoodies covered by the signature cape of Hillpeaks.
“No, No, No Oliver you’re missing the important point, I’ll stop doing this once you become responsible and start using that mana of yours.”
Oliver huffed and crossed his arms in desperation, “Ms. Rosemary, what will be the lesson today?”
Ms. Rosemary very boastfully laughed while putting both hands on her waist, “Today you’ll be doing a Easter hunt!”
“Oliver, you’ll be hunting down specific items that require the use of your mana.”
“Excuse me, but you know that I specifically requested not to study that subject—“
“And that request was denied. You know there’s going to be a time where you’re going to require the use of mana. While we know that’s it’s not stable, it should be safe to use it for passive reasons.”
”Now young Oliver, we know that your mana came from a dark source, but it should not be a reason to cower behind.”
Oliver pouted a little and walked away.
