(Lancelot’s POV)
The night ended and the day comes. Including today, it has been 10 days since I reincarnated into this world. That means I have about 20 days to live if I did nothing to cure the poison inside me.
After sending the prince off, I spent more of my time riding my horse and exploring the fief. While I was exploring the farmland, I noticed that most of the dead lands were already buried with the new soil that I have advised the farmers to make. And for some reason, there are more people in the farmland than usual. Are they all of the townsfolk?
...No way right?
“Right, there is no way they would go all out just to heed this tyrant’s advice.”
I nodded, trying to convince myself.
When I reached the end of my fief, I realised that the figures that I saw on the first day of my reincarnation weren’t here. Did they perhaps regroup? They never mention anything about Lancelot being guarded by the royalty in the novel so I’m kinda anxious about them.
By the way, the progress of the research for the cure of the poison is progressing steadily. I got to know that the royal researchers had used all of the ingredients that this continent have but still to no avail.
But did you forget? I am a reincarnator so I know exactly how to cure the Miragela poison hohoho~
At first, I was wondering what Miragela poison actually is because they never mentioned it in the novel. But of course I won’t remember Miragela poison because they were replaced with the name ‘Spell of Miran’ in the second novel where the MC had been poisoned by Miragela and the first prince became the leading character in that novel by venturing to the south continent to find the cure. The prince was from the south so they also uncover the first prince’s past in the second novel.
I remember myself crying in happiness when the author decided to publish a book where the first prince is the MC and was among the first buyer when the hard copy had finally out for sale. Because, the first prince is my crush after all!
Though, I remembered the ingredients were hard to find as it was located in three other continents and the last ingredients is “The pure-hearted’s blood.” Which was the MC, Cecilia Istvan’s blood.
But I can’t enter the capital or even get close to Cecilia so what am I supposed to do? I do remember me accompanying Avery to attend the ball in my last few days, but by that time if I failed, it will certainly be a game over for me.
I pondered for ways to sucessfully get her blood somehow for the cure to be successful until the dinnertime.
“Is something the matter, Master?”
Taylor asked in concern. He was preparing to serve my dinner when he noticed that I was in a daze.
I shook my head.
“No, its just, I’m thinking about the antidote for the poison and ways to procure it.”
“...I see.” Taylor smiled secretly.
“Master, I have a suggestion.”
I perked my gaze to him. “Hmm?”
“How about doing some exercise?”
At first, I thought this old butler is probably mad, but one thing I realized after I reincarnated inside this world is that I didn’t utilize my legs efficiently enough because I was busy with the study of the antidote. “...!”
Upon hearing those idea, my eyes glinted.
(Lancelot’s POV)
“I will be in your care from now on!”
I bellowed to the knights troop. After hearing Taylor’s suggestion of going for exercises, I quickly requested for the knights to train me in swordsmanship. Lancelot already has talent in wielding a sword but due to his lack of practice, his skills had rusted considerably. His body might remember though.
“Alright, we will begin with some light exercise before we wield the sword.”
The head of the knights, Carl, said as he pointed towards the opening. He wanted us to run for a few laps as warming up before we stretched.
You must have been wondering why the sudden urge to exercise? Well, the reason is simple, by exercising, I’ll be able to increase my metabolism and in return, will increase my antibody to fight the poison. By increasing my metabolism, I hope it would at least push back the time of my death, even by a few days.
Now that I can move my legs, I wanted to use it to the fullest for as long as I lived. They also said in the novel that Lancelot was a good fighter, so I’ll use that advantage to train my body. Who knows if something happened, I would at least be able to protect people.
“Hehehe...”
I giggled happily as I ran around the field.
The knights that were also running with me looked at me with weird expressions while Taylor who was accompanying me smiled at the side.
After the run and stretches, we all took our wooden swords and get in line.
“Okay, listen. Because the Baron is finally here, this might feel a bit sudden...”
Carl walked in front of us then suddenly stopped and grinned as he looked at us.
“Let’s have a duel.”
HUH?!
(Lancelot’s POV)
.....What is happening right now?
Before I know it, I was standing in front one of the knights for a duel after Carl said so. I know that Lancelot is good at swordsmanship, but I am Sakamaki Yuu, a normal Japanese person who only know how to play basketball and dodgeball before I became disabled, I have NEVER touched a cooking knife much more or less a sword?! I might kill myself rather than the enemy!
“Uhm, you are...”
“It’s Adam, Master Lancelot.”
The man named Adam grinned as he placed the sword on his shoulder carefreely. Geh, he looked strong. The author never said anything about the knights in the Baron’s house, so I’m not sure how strong they are in battles. But they are knights, so of course they would be strong, right?
“Are you guys ready?”
Carl stood between us and glanced at the both of us.
“Ah, wait!”
I raised my hand to Carl, signalling for a time out.
“Alright then.”
He agreed and held his waist.
“Hmm...”
I raised an eyebrow as I inspected the sword. I might be a disabled old man, but back in my school days, I am one of the national aces of Japan in the basketball team. My policy is simple; follow you instincts, and your lead will guide your path. The instinct is my intuition, and the lead is the things that I hold onto.
Sounds magical, right?
But I won the national tournament with my instincts so it was suffice to say that my intuition is mostly accurate.
I tried to swing the sword. From all the books about weapon smithing that I have read back in my past life, they said that actual sword is heavier than the wooden sword due to the difference in materials used.
It’s light, I thought as I continued swinging the sword.
“Okay, I’m ready.”
I said and get into my battle stance. Then I noticed some of them are giving me strange looks as if I have never done this before.
“What is it?”
I asked and lowered down my sword.
“Ah! Nothing. It’s just, we never know that you had changed your style. You would usually fight with two swords.”
So Lancelot was a dual wielder, huh?
But for some reason, I have a good feeling if I use only a single sword, so from now on, I’ll stick to that. Luckily, Lancelot remembered how to use sword for a little bit so that helps me in the duel.
“Is it? Well, I am trying something new today.”
I said and got onto my battle stance again. Adam also had gotten into his battle stance and were ready for the duel.
“Ready...”
Carl raised his hand above his head, and lowered it as he shouted,
“Start!”
