(Rishan’s POV)
After having a hearty meal, which require both me and Viktor to finish them, we spent some time strolling again in the night city view before he sent me off in front of my house.
That is what it was supposed to be.
Yet, here I am standing still with him for God knows how long while looking down awkwardly—cause we have actually stared at each other from the beginning—meanwhile, he stared straight to my lowering head.
“Uh...”
I fidgeted.
“Can I... Go inside?”
I pointed towards my house which was just behind my body, separated by the house gate. Since the moment we arrived, I’ve been wanting to enter, but, he just kept staring at me and didn’t utter any word.
Even after throwing that question, he still won’t budge, his pupil locked on my face.
He then rubbed his forehead—finally making a movement—after another minutes have passed.
“...Yeah...sure...”
He seemed like he was hesitating to let me go.
“I do actually...”
“Hmm?”
I stared at him wide eyed.
Did he just read my mind again?
“No, I didn’t. It’s just a hunch. I did remind you that your expressions are too obvious, like an open book.”
I stammered, before flushing soon after.
“I-I’m sorry if I came out as rude to you...”
I placed both of my hands behind my waist and fidgeted.
Gosh, what am I, a high school girl?
“It’s fine, I don’t mind.”
He gave me a half smile, yet his down cast eyes reflected affection as he looked at me.
My eyes twitched.
“...Well then.”
I awkwardly waved a goodbye to him before turning around to open the gate.
“Good night, Rishan.”
I paused for a bit, I can feel something inside my chest pounding violently.
“...yeah, good night.”
I said without turning back and swiftly opened the gate before sprinting inside.
I laid down on the bed after tossing off my coat. Actually, I came out with an idea to cover my hard bed with a soft futon bedding, so I at least be able to relive the same soft sensation as Viktor’s luxurious bed. I don’t think that huge bed frame nor the matress would fit the main door of the house—which was initally my grandparents’ house—and besides, I don’t think that the wooden floor could shoulder the weight of that heavy looking bed. I don’t know how they make that heavy bed soft. Maybe, thanks to the advancement of technology, I guess.
I rolled on the bed for a few seconds, before laying on my right side as I stared towards the old wooden window.
My eyes fluttered while I remember back all the memories inside my head about Viktor.
It was very clear to me, but I pushed them to the back of my mind.
The obvious fact that Viktor has strong affection towards me. Since the beginning, after he left the clinic, and then came back looking for me, his hooded eyes looked at me with affectionate gaze. His touch, his caring behaviour, and his slighty clingy attitude that I felt for these past few days make it hard for me to keep ignorig them.
My mind suddenly recalled the memories of when I was in university, chasing after my first love. It was unrequited, obviously, and it hurts me more when he found out I liked him.
Because I was gay.
I creased my eyebrows and covered my face with a pillow, trying to forget the sudden surge of bad memories inside my mind.
Just as I was about to fall asleep, my phone suddenly rang. I picked it up to see Elliot’s name and swiped the green button to answer it.
“Hello?”
I greeted.
“Hello, Rishan.”
She addressed me informally again. Was she about to say something important?
“What is it?”
“Good question. I just wanna ask...”
There’s a pause at the end of the line.
“Is it a trend nowadays to get injured with poison?”
My eyes widened in surprise.
“...What did you just said?”
“I meant what I said. Just a few minutes ago, Sam had been tending the wounds of a patient that came in with a massive scratch on their back. It was the same wound like the one we’ve treated before, that mountain guy. I actually called you to ask if your headache have subsided or not, because we have three patients.”
She was talking about Tanner. However, rather than pondering about the comparison of size between her and Tanner, I quickly jumped out of my bed and took out my white long coat. My clinic is just five minutes away by drive, so maybe I still can make it.
Snatching my car keys, I sped up towards the road like I was in a deathly race. With this speed, I bet that sooner or later the police will come chasing after me. Thank goodness, that didn’t happen.
“Doctor!”
A nurse said after seeing me entering the clinic door.
“Where’s Sam?”
“He’s in the emergency room, tending the patient along with Judy.”
“noted.”
I quickly paced towards the emergency room.
Upon arrival, I instantly smelled a sickening stench, mixed with a scent that irritates the nose.
“Poison..”
I muttered to myself as I walked near Judy who was tending to two patients at the same time. She looked like she was about to collapse.
“Judy.”
I scooted beside a patient. His wounds were big, but luckily Judy managed perform early treatments to stop the bleeding.
“I will take care of this one. You can focus on that one.”
“Okay, boss!”
She grinned, showing her neatly aligned shiny white teeth, despite fatigue showing.
As I was inspecting the patient’s wound, out of nowhere, Elliot appeared beside me, shoving the rubber gloves in front of me as she urged me to wear them.
“Come on, the patient’s won’t heal themselves with you staring at me like that.”
I chuckled and starting to sprint to the nearest sink. After performing the basic sterilization, with Elliot’s help, I successfully have my mask and gloves on with me. As I glanced at the side, I saw a metal trolley beside her, probably she already preparing the tools while I was on my way to the ER(Emergency Room).
I started to tend the patient’s wound, but with extra care as they were just a normal human being. Suddenly, a question popped out in my mind, as if summarizing the past two days of my life.
What in the world is happening right now?
Viktor
At a secluded alleyway somewhere near the city, two silhouettes were seen fighthing. The first figure looked as if they were fighthing a useless battle, while the second figure was able to hold it’s ground, still standing straight as it slowly scooted near the first figure.
Then suddenly, the first figure looked like it was flying, and then was hit by an impact, thus the figure flew out from the alleyway, straight onto the trash bin.
He grunted, streams of blood went out from his wound on his side. He darted his eyes in wariness, towards the figure that slowly appeared from the darkness of shadows.
It’s eyes shone a bright tinge of blue.
“Bloodikar, I won’t fight you if you weren’t hostile towards me in the first place.”
His tinge brightened, looking like a permafrost; so cold and deadly.
“Tell me, are you the one behind all of these attacks?”
His domineering voice echoed, making the atmosphere heavy.
Leslie choked a breath due to how hard it was to breathe. He gritted his teeth and glared at the man in front of him. Sneakily, he hid one of his hands on his back while he broke a small ampule of a lethal poison.
“...So what if I did? What will you do?”
He smirked, trying to stall for some time.
The man narrowed his shining eyes and leered down at him.
However, before he could even speak, Leslie leaped towards him and threw the poison onto his face, before kicking him hard on the chest and jumped up towards the towering buildings on the side, disappearing from sight.
