Ruby
Slightly panicking, I sneaked gingerly towards the main door, both of my hands holding a trying pan. Unlike what I expected, I saw a large figure towering the entirety of the peeking glass field of view.
My eyebrows creased.
Just when I was about to open it, suddenly I remembered how this world worked out. Will this be a plot in a story where the female protagonist kind-heartedly helped a stranger who turned out to be the heir of a huge company?
I halted my hand from twisting the doorknob.
At the same time, I saw the figure swaying weakly as if he almost fell unconscious. I really wanted to help him, but what if he turned out to be just like I expected?
I took a deep breath and exhaled.
Okay, here goes nothing.
Immediately after I opened the door, the huge figure of a male came tumbling down the entryway as I stepped to the side. I wouldn't want to spark any romantic moments if per chance I were to shoulder his fall. Luckily he fell not on his face, but the side of his face.
Yeah, I know I sounded bastardious, but I really don't want to get involved with any type of rich people, ever.
Suddenly the male grumbled. Or more like, his tummy did.
I froze in shock, for a few moments before I softly kicked his side to see whether he's alive or not. Then, with a swift and frantic movements, I pulled him inside and closed the door.
It appears to me that he's actually injured and hungry, based on the injury on the side of his abdomen and the loud grumbling sound coming from his stomach.
Although reluctant, I carefully treated his wound and packed some egg sandwich for him before once again, dragging his unconscious body towards the front of my apartment complex. Apart from that, to make sure he didn't die from the cold of the spring night, I made sure to prepare some warm packs and wrapped countless numbers of mufflers and blankets on him. After I am utterly convinced that he'll be fine on his own, I returned home.

What I expected to happen in the morning didn't happen. Apart from me finding the mufflers and the blanket neatly folded on the ground and also found out that the food pack where I prepared egg sandwich for that injured stranger empty, I didn't hear anything on the news about a billionaire's lost son being found. What I only heard was about a girl who's lost for a month is now found looking completely fine.
"Hmph, that must be those rich people's doing." I snickered and resumed eating my bacon and egg sandwich.
There's only one way why people got lost and returned. While people do get lost and found dead the following days or weeks, some of the rare occurrence of returning alive is either they got trapped by a rich person or they became a plaything for those rich people.
In fact, most cases of the people returning alive are women, which, you know what I mean, right?
Anyway, I am more invested in my guilt for leaving that injured guy alone. The paranoid I had after coming to this world is tremendous, especially when I almost got attacked by a guy who has the same constitution like the guy last night. He turned out to be the secret child of a millionaire and was out in the running from his responsibilities.
Those random attack were enough to instill fear in me, apart from the fact that these rich arrogant people is proven to be mostly philanderers who looked at other's outer beauty.
I scoffed at those thoughts.
After swallowing the whole plate of my breakfast, I got up from the dinner table and prepared myself to go out. Today, I planned on looking to apply more part time jobs. I tucked myself in my newly bought long coat and stepped outside, oblivious of the fact that someone had been waiting for me outside this whole time.
I froze when I saw a silhouette waiting at the end of the hallway of the apartment complex. From the distance where I stood, I heard that male figure said to his hearing device.
"The girl is here."
Aw shoot.
I immediately jumped down from the second floor of the apartment complex. Surprised, but also panicked, I heard the guy yelling from behind me.
"Don't let her get away!"
The chasing game between me and the mafia king's hoodlums began. Skillfully, like I was meant for this kind of thing, I avoided their every attempt to catch me while leaping and parkouring through the roofs and the walls of the suburban area.
I guess luck wasn't on my side today when I turned to a dead end. Making a loop around the high wall with buildings on each sides, I blew a sigh when I saw the goons coming closer.
Quick brain, quick. Think about a way out before I become someone's plaything and got tortured.
Suddenly I heard a dog barking. That didn't even flinch the goons, yet the next thing they see, a figure appeared out of nowhere and carried me in his shoulders before the two of us disappeared somewhere.
