Ruby
I was yelling on top of my lungs while I got carried on someone's shoulders. As I gazed in horror at the view of the town where I lived bouncing in my sight, I was about to puke when the person who carried me stopped somewhere on the space hidden between the lining of buildings.
"Phew..." He heaved a sigh and brushed his bushy brunette hair.
Putting me down, he knelt beside me and formed a grin. "Hey, kid. You're alright?"
My eyebrows twitched. Kid? Who is he calling a kid?
"I am a full fledged woman for your information." I retorted and flipped my shoulder length caramel hair, gaining a chuckle from him.
"I get it I get it. Are you alright?" He responded, which, for me made him sound like your usual neighborhood teenager.
I reluctantly nodded and peered at him. His feature is downright admirable to be honest; a slightly tanned skin and prominent facial features, as well as those striking hazel eyes. If he would just cut that bushy long bangs that covered almost half of his face, I can say he would be nominated among the top if he were a millionaire. But unfortunately, even if he’s handsome, but he’s not rich, I can say he’ll be good in a whole different genre.
Though, when I looked back at him, wasn't he that injured guy I saved last night?
“Aren’t you… That guy?” I probed, recalling the last night event of me treating him.
The smile of his face dispersed for a few seconds, as if pondering, before it came back in full throttle of a blinding grin.
“Wait, so you are the one who save me?!” His voice couldn’t be louder than this.
I lurched forward and covered his mouth with both of my hands.
“Shut up, you. What if those people found us?” I ushered him to fall quiet.
“Hm?” He looked completely flabbergasted. Then, he slowly pulled my hands down and whispered to me.
“But I thought they were looking for me?”
“What?” My eyebrows creased.
“But those people were chasing me.”
He scoffed in disbelief. “For real now?”
He asked me as if I was telling him a lie. If he were to know the rules of this world and it’s predatory regulations, he wouldn’t have scoff at me like that.
“It’s up to you if you didn’t want to believe?” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“Okay, alright. I’m sorry for judging you. I do know those people were from what organisation and I’ve heard a lot about them. But I never expected them to kidnap someone so, ordinary.” HE immeidately pursed his lips when he saw me scowling.
“What did you said?!” I retorted back. I know I am way below average of the standards of this world, but he don’t have to rub it in like that.
And apparently the two of us have delayed enough. The goons spotted us in our hiding spot and prceed to chase us. I heaved a sigh, simultaneously together with this mysterious guy in front of me before he stood up and pulled me.
“We should go.” He said and grinned again. At this point I’m pretty convinced that he’s someone rich with smiles.
I stood up too and passed a gaze at him and the nearing goons who was about to approach us.
“What do you plan to do?” I swallowed. If it were me, I would have run earlier and fully escape, but this unknown guy looked like he has a plan.
And it’s strangely calming to be with him.
He looked above while I glanced around me. The two of us were in an open space like a small field and there are about a dozen of goons approaching us.
The male then gaze down at me. “We’ll do what we’re professional at.”
“Huh?” I raised an eyebrow.
Suddenly he snaked one arm behind my back and instead of dragging me on his shoulders, he carried me princess style and avoided all the goons’ attempt of capturing him before climbing up to the pipeways of the buildings before disappearing from sight.
