Mia
[…due to technical problems, the flight from … will be extended until further notice…]
Mia fidgeted anxiously after hearing the bits from the announcement. It was her flight schedule that was extended, and she dowsn’t feel good about it. He eyes began to wander to her surroundings, looking for any suspicious looking people that might be related to her ex husband.
‘I can’t run away now…’ Was what the anxious 2 month pregnant lady thought, the memories of her time spent living as her ex husband’s wife while unloved repeated back at the back of her mind, causing her to tremble.
Because of various of reasons starting by her being set up to marry him up until the accusation her ex husband made towards the baby inside her belly that was actually his, when he was the one being possessive of her and won’t let her out from the house at a far proximity, the 23 years old woman felt suffocated. In the end, she decided to run away from her past and signed the agreement to annul their short marriage, just so she could keep the little soul inside her alive.
Countless of worrisome thoughts flood her thinking as she contemplates the future when her child asked who the father is. She didn’t think that far to answer, yet she was convinced of one thing; that the person who forced her to abort the child while slandering her is not this child’s father.
Tears of agitation began to well up in her eyelids and she wiped them as she exhaled, determined not to cry for the same person ever again.
She had reached until this point, she can’t really stop now.
Suddenly she saw a movement at the corner of her eyes. Turning around, she saw a pregnant woman; her face wore a fatigued look as she scooted closer to a seat one seat away from her and slowly leaned back to sit down. After that taxing activity, the woman blew a sigh.
Mia couldn’t help but stare at the woman’s bulging tummy. Compared to her, the woman’s tummy is massive, like she will give birth anytime. The woman noticed Mai’a stares and turned to look at her.
“Hm?” The woman commented out of confusion, her slightly thin lips curved into a half smile as her frost blue eyes glanced at Mia’s face.
Mia immediately retracted her gaze and awkwardly turned away, guiltily scratched her cheeks.
“I-I am so sorry for staring at you…”
The woman gazed at her fow a few moments, before she bloomed a smile. “It’s alright. I received a lot of glances like that one of these days.” She then cast her gaze down to her bulging tummy. “It’s probably because I got pregnant despite being young.”
Now that she said that, Mia could see the youth in her complexion. Based on her face, she looked no older than her.
“But I don’t mind their gazes, because I’m happy now.” The woman bloomed a smile, she looks genuinely happy with her life that Mia felt jealous of her.
“By the way…” Mia snapped back to reality when the woman called her. “My name’s Kelly. What’s yours?”
Mia hesitated for a but, before mouthing an answer. “My name is… Mia.”
“Mia, huh?” The woman nodded her head. Kelly looked really innocent, making Mia felt guilty for doubting te people around her. After all, her ex husband’s men can be everywhere.
“Mia,” Again Mia’s daze snapped back and she returned her focus to Kelly’s face.
“Yes?”
“What are you doing here at this time of day?” Kelly’s question made the anxiety crept back up inside her. She dithered to answer while her mind is fighting between wanting to tell a stranger about her escape or not.
Because of the lengthy amount of time, the pregnant woman realized that Mia doesn’t seem to want to talk about her matters.
“Never mind. It’s completely fine of you don’t want to tell me your reason. Every people have their own secret they wanted to keep.” Kelly broke into a giggle.
“I’m sorry…” The anxious woman only managed to mutter that.
Kelly comforted Mia again, telling her it’s okay for the third time before she began her story.
“If you don’t want to tell your story, then it’s fine. But I will tell you mine then.” The young mother smiled.
Before she said anything, she rubbed her belly beneath her baggy white one piece and heaved a low sigh.
“Actually, I shouldn’t really be going to the airport like this. Not until I got a report stating that my husband is in danger in Moscow.”
Mia’s eyes twitched. “Moscow? So do you mean your husband worked overseas?”
Kelly nodded. Rubbing her belly once more, she continued. “Me and my husband lived just like anyone else; happy, moderate and a humble lifestyle. Until one day, a person from my husband’s company tied him with a sudden debt that caused him to have to pay.”
“Debt? But your husband didn’t request for any loan, right?” Mia frowned.
“Yes, but the loan sharks doesn’t want to hear excuses from us. Moreover the one who put us under debt is already dead by those loan sharks.”
“But that’s…” Mia clenched her fist. “That’s so unfair…”
Kelly breathed a chuckle. “Not everything in life is fair.”
The woman then pursed her lips. “So then, are you going to Moscow to save your husband?”
“To be exact, I’ll be following after him. I told him to go there first because I have some matters to attend.”
Suddenly the crowds started to bustle. Mia glanced around to her surrounding, puzzled before a rough tone shook her hearing.
“She’s there, catch her!”
Mia shot her eyes up to see the direction of the voice. At a far distance, a group of three men clad with work suit were dashing to her direction, yet she never recognized them as one of her ex husband’s underlings.
“Oh goodness.” Kelly’s troubled voice caused Mia to dart her eyes at her.
“I guess the loan sharks found me.”
The fatigued pregnant mother formed a sad expression of defeat. Mia felt her chest tightening, and before she knew it, she was pulling Kelly away from the seat and disappeared into the crowds.
