Ruby
Raul, you are an absolute turd.
Like I could say that in front of this scary Mafia King who’s looking at me with complicated expression I myself find it hard to decipher. As of now, my side and his side were in an awkward situation. I was just entering through the door with Mark behind me and if that doesn’t sound quite normal to you, despite the mystery of how I know about the lock PIN number, Raul is leaning back against his work chair—way far back that he looks like he’s laying down— with his button down shirt partially unbuttoned, and also is supporting a half naked woman on top of his abdomen.
If this is not me discovering adultery, I don’t know what it is.
I stood stiff for a good couple of minutes before Mark snapped his fingers in front of me to return back my focus.
“Ruby, you are staring into thin air, you know?” This shaggy haired guy smiled widely at me.
I’m amazed that he can still pull off that nonchalant face despite seeing that voluptuous body of a woman on top of Raul. Even a woman like me can’t help but stare in awe at her.
The woman sitting on Raul passed her gaze between me and Mark. Slowly, she climbed down from Raul’s body and sashayed to the two of us while saying, “Who are you and what do you want?”
Her tone sound arrogant, like this office is hers. That being said, she is almost the splitting image of the snobbish Mafia King. If Mia isn’t the person Raul likes, this woman will probably be his.
“We are just a passer by,” Mark blurted out, gaining a shocked gaze from me.
“That brings news about your wife’s whereabouts.” He continued, which in turn snapped Raul back to reality and he immediately shot up from his seat and checked his phone. There’s probably missed calls notification displayed on the screen, because I can see him mouthing a curse while he brushed his hair back in frustration.
“Minerva, I want yo to go home, now.”
The woman called Minerva frowned and let out a sigh in disbelief.
“What? You called me, telling me to come all the way here to comfort you and you’re just going to throw me away? You’re such a scumbag.” Suddenly her tone sounded pitiful. Too pitiful, if I may say. As if she is playing victim in this situation.
I gazed once more at Minerva’s face. Yep, it’s definitely not blurred. Either this person is a supprting character or a good ol’ enemy of the protagonist. I might need to add that fact in my notebook for future reference as I’ve never seen an enemy for the protagonist before.
Minerva resumed to play victim, spouting nonsenses that Raul himself had to pathetically fight in his distraught state, that it made me and Mark secretly exchanged amused glances with each other.
“Yeah, no doubt about it.” I bellowed in monotone, trying to cut in between their useless bickering. At this point, both Minerva and Raul sounded pitiful to me I couldn’t help but symphatize with them.
“Raul.” I called him informally, not like I ever called him formally, he’s just 6 years apart from me. “How dare you. You played with women’s heart like they’re disposable trash. No wonder Mia ran away from you.”
To be honest, I am trying so hard to act like a betrayed character in this situation. Raul is looking at me with a look of disbelief, Minerva is looking at me like she just won in pulling me to her side, while Mark, well, he’s dying from trying to stifle his laughter beneath his straight expression. I guess only Mark gets the gist of what I’m doing right now.
Raul was in a daze for a few seconds, before shortly after that, clenching his fist in anger before he roared.
“All of you, get out!”
His rage, plus the Menacing Aura that erupted instantly caused me to flinch and Minerva to shudder. At that very moment, I told Mark to grab Minerva and escort her to outside the building.
The surrounding atmosphere is blurry due to the Menacing Aura Raul emitted. As he leaned in on his desk with his hands supporting his body, the indignant trembling of his body were apparent, like he would blow up anytime soon. I blew a long sigh, before then, decided to proceed forward to trudge through the thick murderous aura.
Just like in a game, the aura clashed with my every fiber of being, yet it didn’t diminish my resolute to inch closer to Raul, and also the desire to…
SMACK!
A strong slap landed on his cheeks, causing him to tilt his head to the side and completely froze. Subsequently after that, the surrounding air of the office returned normal, leaving me kneeling on top of the desk with one of my hands still lifted up in the air after slapping him, my face is situated directly to see his face.
“Hey.” I stared into his yellow eyes unblinked.
“You getting mad here won’t return your wife back to you.” His eyes slightly widened when I uttered that sentence.
“So get a grip, will you?”
