Atlas is taking a small risk (in the context of the overall massive risk in being in the position he is)... Vasilis has already prodded him in the right direction on this and it seems to me Vasilis is looking for someone to be a partner-in-crime, not a blindly obedient servant. If this is Atlas' interpretation as well then he's just pushing their relationship forward - I would imagine that forward is the only option not involving Atlas ending up dead.
