Daniel arrived at the office building where Yna works. He waited for the elevator to open. The moment it opened, Mr. Hugo came out as he walked inside the elevator. The casual walked in and out of people inside the building. He went out of the elevator and entered the window glass door. He saw Yna carrying Adan. It was perfect timing because Mr. Hugo Anders just left.
"Hey!" Daniel waved.
"Hey, you just arrived at a perfect time," Yna said as he handed Adan to him.
"Well, that's good. I thought I would come to meet your boss." Daniel said, carrying Adan, who perfectly looks happy.
"No, you can't see him. If possible, not even to cross paths with him." Yna sudden low tone.
"And why is that? Is he a strict boss that does not allow visitors in your area?" Daniel wondered.
"Something like that. I'm sorry if I just told you now."
"That's alright. I'll take Adan home now before anyone sees us. I don't want you to be in trouble." Daniel poker-faced.
"Thank you, Daniel. Stay for dinner later, okay." Yna smiled.
"Sure." he smiled back as they left the office.
Daniel took care of Adan while in the house. They play with his toys. He also did the horseback that Adan enjoyed with waves of laughter. After playing, he bathed him, and Adan fell asleep. He took his laptop out and did some research for his upcoming assessment due date. Yna arrived at 6:30 pm. She looked pretty exhausted. Daniel helped her carry the groceries she had bought. Yna was happy to see that Adan was comfortable with him. She rested for a bit. Daniel helped wash the vegetables. Yna then started making Chilli Beef Stir Fry with vegetables and rice while Daniel helped set up the table.
"How's your school?" Yna asked while they were having dinner with Adan sitting on his baby chair.
"Pretty much the same. I will rest for a month from playing soccer while I put my life back together." Daniel said while chewing.
"Well, I am happy to hear you're taking a break. I don't know what happened to you and your friend, but I know time will slowly heal your wounds. Memories will always be there in our hearts, and even lessons learned. The only thing we could ever do about it is to keep moving forward for the betterment. We can't turn back time, but what we can do is look at what's ahead of us," Yna said as she looked at Adan.
"You seem like you have gone through a lot in your life. How did you do it? to live?" Daniel asked curiously.
"How did I do it?" Yna reminisced all her past. "It was not easy. My boyfriend runaway after he found out I got pregnant after we graduated. My parents disowned me for selfish reasons. Life was tougher than I had imagined when I was pregnant with Adan and as my tummy grew. I was turned down for every job I applied for, and the Women's Center was the only place that accepted me and took me in. I cried like almost every night. I was considering having an abortion, but my friend in the center saved me from not doing it. She said babies are blessings, and they can feel and hear their mother's emotions. And so, babies tried to hold on inside their mother's womb because, like me, they also want to survive."
Daniel felt her pain as he listened.
"When Adan came out in this world, all my pains vanished. He was indeed a blessing. I need to survive and keep living for my son because if I have to think about it, many people are out there with much bigger and worse problems than I do. So, I have to do everything I can to live a life like I am today." Yna said with a soft smile.
"You're a great mother to Adan, Yna. I hope every mother is like you. I couldn't blame my parents for kicking me out of the house. It was my fault, but I didn't want to go back. I want to change the things I have taken for granted so that I will never hurt anyone in my life again. I want my parents to see that I can live on my own. I may depend on them at this stage since I am completing my degree, but I assure myself that I will become a better version of myself." Daniel said while softly smiling back at Yna.
"Well, you have work now by babysitting Adan, right, Adan?" Adan chuckled as they laughed their way to a beautiful evening's end.
