The Coachman gripped his graying hair and pulled. What kind of idiot was this rascal to turn down easy money?! After a while the coachman started tying Moonlight to the carriage in a suffocating silence. Suffocating only for himself that is. The other two had already gotten inside the carriage and were politely smiling at each other.
As soon as Moonlight was tied in, the other horse stood back up with renewed energy.
“Humans, am I right?” Moonlight neighed at the carriage horse.
“You got that right,” the carriage horse neighed back.
Dante lifted his head slightly to see the coachman hopping into the driver’s seat. In a few seconds the carriage started to move. The evening light from the window revealed the red birthmark on Dante’s tanned neck more clearly for Cassius to observe. The birthmark was big, taking up the entire left side of Dante’s neck. It was a mix of orange and red. If one stared at it long enough one would think it was similar to a descending phoenix. Cassius had seen the same birthmark before. But the questions when, where, and how, did that particular birthmark happen to be on this random stranger whose name he didn’t even know swirled in his head.
