Dante was pretty sure life was the same as any other place on Albion. His polite attempt at declining the kind offer started with “Is it ok to hand out rooms like that?” Dante asked gritting his teeth against the searing pain of his broken toes.
“Its fine!” Cassius placated. His arm went around Dante’s shoulder as if to stop him from the mere thought of running away. He called over a servant who bowed and took Cassius’ place. “I am quite an important character in the palace. I can do at least get an extra room for my guest.”
By then the sun had already set and Dante felt quite pressured for he hadn’t spent much time with someone so pushy before. Dante might have rightfully wondered if it was that easy to stay in the palace if the pain of his broken toe wasn’t so searing for even the thought Shouldn’t the palace be more heavily guarded? Was unable to penetrate his brain. His polite decline had failed so miserably against such reasonable terms that he could only say, “Then I suppose I will take you up on your offer,” with a forced smile.
