One Day, I Kicked a Stone and...

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Jun 01, 2023

Today is the day.

I’m packing my things into my bag that is made from animal skin. Let’s see, dried food, some clothing I personally made and some stone crafts from my past time? I don’t even much personal belongings, to be honest. Probably,  I should really buy some clothes soon. My school uniform, I don’t want to say how terrible it become. And the clothing made from any natural resources I could find… Hope people will not see me as someone from a savage tribe or something.

“Master, are you sure you’re not going?”

My master is sitting(?) silently, just watching me pack. It is just two days ago that my master suddenly says about not going to the town with me.

[I’ll be fine. It’s not like the town is too far from here.]

“Are you sure you won’t miss me?” I jest.

[Well, if you’re gone forever, I’ll just find another disciple.]

What’s happening about making me your guardian?!

“Then, Master. I’ll make sure to visit you when I’m free,” I strap the stone dagger to my waist.

Master tells me there are probably more dangerous monsters out there. ‘Probably less than in the past,’ as my master says but I still need to prepare. That hybrid beast I meet when my first day here too is scary as well. But I guess I can take it on easily by now. ‘That beast is just a small fry,’ My master also says this some time ago but I cannot imagine what’s in the store outside of my hunting spot.

Finishing packing, I walk until I stand right before my master with my bag strapped at the back. “Then, Master. I’ll get going.” I say firmly.

Yes, I’ll say truthfully; I’m not all that excited about leaving my master behind. I guess I already attached to that stone spirit.

[Then, good luck. This journey shall be your training. Don’t forget that.]

Uh, I kinda forgetting that already.

"Yes, I will, Master."

After one last look, I move forward, outside the cave, seeing the sunlight from a new perspective. Suddenly I realise that the sun is so far away, beneath it is the vast world that I still don’t get a chance to gaze upon.

World, I'm coming.
