“I just wanted to know how you’re liking your new job.” Dr. Freljord said, finally looking up from his papers. He leaned forward, his arms folded on his desk. “Well?”
“Okay I guess. I don’t understand why I have to work here though, and why you wouldn’t let me work somewhere else.” Jason said, as he walked over to his father’s desk.
“Because, I want you to take over after I die.” He said, “I don’t trust this place with anybody else, so what better than my own son?” Dr. Freljord said.
Jason sighed. ‘But what if I don’t want to take over? What if I want to do something else with my life? Why does it always have to be what you want, and not what Iwant?’
“So, what did you think of my little … project?” Dr. Freljord asked. “It’s brilliant, isn’t it?”
“What proj- Oh, you mean the girl?” Jason asked. He felt disgusted. The girl was just a thing to him too? “She seemed normal to me. Why?” Now Jason was curious. What had his father done to the girl? All he knew was that his father was a scientist who worked with genetics.
“Did’ya turn her into a super soldier?” He joked. His father used to say that it was his dream to make a real super soldier, just like in the Marvel movies.
“Not quite. It’s actually better.” Dr. Freljord said.
Jason's eyes widened. “OH MY GOSH! I thought I was kidding!’ Jason’s mind screamed. “So what did you do?” he asked nervously.
“Do you remember those Twilight books your mother and I love to read?” Dr. Freljord asked.
Jason thought for a moment. “Yeah, weren’t there also movies too?”
“Yes, well you see, my goal is to create one of them, and we’re getting really close.” He said grinning.
“So you’re saying that your goal is to turn her into a vampire? Or a werewolf?” He asked sarcastically. ‘As if that’s actually possible.’ He thought.
“You don’t believe me? I didn’t think you would.” He said, sighing with disappointment, though quickly recovered. “I have proof though.” He grabbed his laptop. “We’ve figured out how to give her the ability of super-speed. I have a video-”
Jason cut him off. “Like I’m s’posed to actually believe that. How do I know you didn’t just edit the video?”
“You’re right. It’ll be better if you see it in person.” Dr. Freljord said, closing his computer. “Jason, tomorrow morning when you come in for work, why don’t you go and get the girl? Bring her down to the lab for me?”
