I am now sitting opposite Vincent’s friend, with the former’s body sleeping on the couch to my left, and a platter or mouthwatering snacks between the three of us.
“Feel free to grab anything you like,” He said while raising his own cup of tea.
This man looks and acts civil, polite and friendly even. But there’s no denying that his blood red pupils say differently. He may not say it verbally, but his body language shows me that he’s on guard, shoulders wide and stiff, chest puffed out slightly, making him look bigger than he already is.
His aura also just screams intimidation and bloodthirst.
“Before you ask anything, let me explain,” I started the conversation. It would be best to finish this talk faster than delay it any longer.
“My name is Micah, you may know me well by my codename, Greed.” I stopped there, trying to gauge his reaction. He didn’t appear to be interested in that particular information, as if he had already known.
“I helped Vincent Canmore out in the cave against Sloth,”
“I understood that when I saw both of you glaring at each other, and did not start any fights. But what exactly is your motive?”
“I’ll repeat to you what I’ve said to Vincent. I am tired of living a life of crime, and decided that I would come clean and sever my connections with Hell’s Court,”
The man puts his cup down on the table. He then leaned forward, putting his hands together.
“If you would like to come clean, I would teleport you to jail. But seeing as you involved Vincent on purpose…”
“I realized that I would die by his hands if I keep it up—!” I frantically explained, he’s threatening to put me in jail? I can’t spend my life in jail, they’ll probably give me a death sentence with all the crimes this body has done.
“That’s why I believe that cooperating with him and taking down Hell’s Court is probably my safest future.”
“I assumed he rejected your offer, seeing how you did kidnap his one and only baby sister and tried to put her on an auction,” the man leaned back at the sofa, with a grin on his stunning face, mocking.
“T-that was…” I facepalmed myself, embarrassed at what Micah has done, “You can say… I have turned over a new leaf?”
He chuckled at my explanation, “Ok, let’s say you have indeed repented and wanted to live a new life. What do you think about forming an alliance with me instead?” The man gave his sweetest open smile.
“Ah where are my manners? My name is Theodore Bielke. You may call me, Theo.”
“I know who you are. I mean— who doesn’t know about the story of Archduke Bielke.”
The Archduchy Bielke is the only Archduchy that ever existed in the history of the Kingdom. And Archduke Theodore Bielke, is the only person to ever reign as the Archduke.
The man is Immortal.
Theodore Bielke, has lived since the first King founded this Kingdom. Cursed with Immortality, he has become some sort of a legendary protector figure to the citizens. Vincent Canmore is one of his close friends, the only one in this generation even. They have an interesting master-disciple relationship.
Vincent thinks of the Archduke as his master and also his foster father. The novel never really explained what Theodore feels about Vincent, though. Or more like, the novel didn’t even go into details about Theodore.
“Can we talk more about what entails the alliance?” I am very tempted with his offer. If I can't get Vincent’s cooperation, then I might as well take his master’s offer.
“Of course. But before that, let’s talk about the symbol on your arm,”
