Typical. "Huh? For what?" Aiden questions, with an attitude. "For throwing.. whatever you just threw, across the classroom." The teacher responds. "I didn't throw anything." he retorts. Liar. "I'm not stupid, i saw you." the teacher replies again. "Well clearly those glasses aren't working." he mutters under his breath. Chuckles and snickers around the classroom. "Anyways, as i was saying..." the teacher's voice becomes almost entirely drowned out by Jake's thoughts. He was so dazed that he almost forgot to be mad at Aiden.
"Hey." Jake says, as he leaves the classroom. Aiden stops. He turns his head back towards Jake, then turns it forward again. "Hey, I'm talking to you." Jake says once again. Aiden stops again. "Like i couldn't figure that out." he has the same annoying tone in his voice. "What was that for?" Jake asked him. "What are you talking about?" Aiden asks him. Jake knew that Aiden knew exactly what he was talking about, he just chose to be annoying.
"The pen? The one you threw at me?" Jake said. "Ohhhh that? That was uh..that was something that..uh...yeah." Aiden replied, trying to completely avoid any confrontation. He continued to walk down the corridor. Jake couldn't help but notice that Aiden seemed a little more...chill, today. He was still extremely annoying though. It seemed it was only then that his face started to feel anything. He didn't care that much though, he only wanted this day to end quickly, so that he could answer all the questions he had, floating around in his head, about his encounter with Mr Vols.
Soon enough, the school day was over, and Jake headed straight home, instead of waiting for Nathan, both riding together to their houses like they normally do. As soon as he got home, he headed straight to his room, but was interrupted, by the sound of his mother calling him. "Jake, could you get something from the basement for me please? It's a blue vase with a yellow lid." "Ok!" He responded. As he went further down into the basement, The box Mr Vols gave him started to emit a soft red glow.
"Does this thing glow in the dark or something?" Jake was puzzled. He reached the bottom of the basement and the box had been shining even brighter than before, it was almost as if the box was on fire. He could even feel the heat coming from what was inside the box, but he tried to pay no attention to it. Soon after, he found the vase his mother had asked him to bring to her, but he also found something else.
Jake rushed back upstairs, leaving the vase on the living room table on the way there. He continued up to his room, and held out own a large, dusty book on top that read "Ramis Divinis" on the front cover. Jake had managed to figure out that the title was written in Latin, but he hadn't taken enough lessons to know what the words meant.
He tried to open the book, but it wouldn't budge, as if it had been glued shut. It was only then he noticed the small hole in the center of the book. The box Mr Vols had given him was still in his pocket, and when he had taken it out, it was shining so brightly that it was like Jake was staring at a miniature inferno.
He opened the box slowly, reached his hand in. Inside the box was a red crystal, no larger than a pebble you would find on the shore of a beach. And then, something suddenly clicked in his mind. He reached his hand toward the small hole in the book, and put the crystal inside. It fit perfectly.
Jake lived a normal, boring life, like most other fourteen year olds. At least, he thought so. Jake discovers that his family has a secret past, hidden from today's society. Jake must team up with friends, and enemies, to stop an ancient evil, before it threatens all of humanity...
