"Here, give it one more try," I asked, as a tremendous pressure materialized above me, as if gravity had grown exponentially stronger. Toppling to my knees, I struggled to regain my footing, with menacing wind arrows materializing around me, threatening my very existence. Gasping for breath, I collapsed onto the ground, and only then did the pressure and arrows dissipate into thin air.
'It's been a month, and still, I can't summon my wings,' I ruminated to myself.
"I believe it's time we put an end to this for now. Your body has surpassed its limits," my dad expressed his concern, suggesting a temporary stop. Given the lack of progress I had made over the past month, I could only concur. We retreated indoors to unwind for a while. With the recent absence of monsters, my oarent have gotten a lot of free time now. My mom and Luna's went to search the forest, which yielded no results.
"How did it go?" my mom asked.
"Same as usual," I responded, my voice laced with disappointment.
"Don't worry, kid. You'll get the hang of it eventually!" Ace offered words of encouragement, unwavering in his optimism.
Ace's attempts to uplift my spirits over the past month had proven futile. I could feel the latent power within me, aware of its existence, yet unable to harness it for reasons unbeknownst to me. Dejected, I slouched in a chair, consumed by melancholy. Ace approached, making yet another endeavor to cheer me up. He was diminutive, comfortably perching on my dad's shoulder, with striking green eyes, verdant hair, and an outfit that resembled more a leaf he stumbled upon than a deliberate attire.
As Ace settled atop my head, an inexplicable change filled the air. Wind began emanating from my pores, growing in intensity with each passing moment. Perplexed, I wondered what Ace had triggered.
Searching for guidance, I glanced at my father, only to be greeted by a broad grin on his face, while my mom's expression shifted from surprise to concern. My father took care to ensure the gusts of wind didn't disrupt anything within the house, and this continued for a couple of minutes before coming to a halt.
"Sorry, son," my dad said, averting his gaze as he witnessed the turn of events. However, a gradual, agonizing pain began to surge within my chest. I let out a piercing scream, tumbling to the ground for the second time that day, clutching my chest where my heart would be. It felt as if the entirety of the pain originated from that very spot. My ears rang, rendering all other sounds inaudible, while my tongue grew as dry as a desert, devoid of any moisture. My other senses failed, and my eyesight grew increasingly blurry.
After what seemed like an eternity, the torment gradually subsided. Sweat drenched my body as my senses slowly returned to normal. Though my vision remained hazy, I discerned the presence of more than just my mother, father, and Ace. It appeared that Luna and the others had arrived during my agonizing ordeal.
"Congratulations, son. You can finally be like me," my father announced, his voice laden with a mix of pride and relief.
